However, I guarantee, these folks have no job and about 3 or more children whom they can not properly afford to take care of. That being said, My wife and I were recently on food stamps. However, she was out of work and I was unemployed. Now we are getting back on our feet and am starting to ween off the food stamps. And I feel free! I may have to budget more, but I feel better.

When I was on foodstamps ( I have cancer and lost my job, I am now on SSD and lost my FS) I cut coupons and shopped sales and was able to feed my family of 5 on less than $500 a month. I would regularly save 50% on my food bill. We did not buy expensive meats or seafood. We bought bulk meat, froze it. Fresh fruits and veggies etc. I know how you feel however, I have seen some people on foodstamps eat a lot better than me!

Go out to Google and research why the 1964 Food Stamp Act was passed. Would you rather have a whole generation of undernourished children suffering from malnutrition? Research what happens when children adults and seniors dont get the proper nutrition. Ya know, I understand food stamps. They are there for those who need it, so is welfare. However, I guarantee, these folks have no job and about 3 or more children whom they can not properly afford to take care of. That being said, My wife and I were recently on food stamps. However, she was out of work and I was unemployed. Now we are getting back on our feet and am starting to ween off the food stamps. And I feel free! I may have to budget more, but I feel better.

And to be honest, it was unfair for me to say that, however, I myself have lived in the inner city of Baltimore, and have known many people who are dependent on food stamps and welfare, and just simply don't get a job. And they will have 3 or 4 or more children, with no way to support them. And it's not just inner city either. Here in many parts of the south, people are like that.

Anyone ever get behind a "foodstamper" at the store? Take a peek at the crap they buy? Of course there are choice cuts of meat & seafood, but for the most part it's all processed crap, cheetos, cookies, doughnuts & ding-dongs, popsicles, koolaid & nothing nutritious at all. No fresh fruit or veggies or real fruit juice (just those plastic kegs with colored sugar water) & most of the time they have more than 1 cart, full to the brim with crap. Hope they all choke or explode!

When I was on foodstamps ( I have cancer and lost my job, I am now on SSD and lost my FS) I cut coupons and shopped sales and was able to feed my family of 5 on less than $500 a month. I would regularly save 50% on my food bill. We did not buy expensive meats or seafood. We bought bulk meat, froze it. Fresh fruits and veggies etc. I know how you feel however, I have seen some people on foodstamps eat a lot better than me!

@jfsfrnd no, we are about $50 dollars a month over the limit. I also had to make my son move out when he got a job because his income would of put us over the limit for health insurance! I am finishing up my treatments for cancer right now.

@mekanani22 Why would one be jealous of someone on welfare? I don't see anything in this video to be jealous of. I'm proud that I support myself. If I was on food stamps I would be jealous of people who could pay their own way not of someone who isn't taking care of themselves, but choose to live that way. To me, your response shows the shame of your situation is eating you up inside, so you've lashed out against the person that posted this video; however, I doubt that you do anything about it.

they need to do away with access cards. Gov cheese, bolonga and spam, you want steak get a job. gov housing, needs to be inspected daily like barracks. all rimes and lfat screens donated. @jfsfrnd well if spending a million to get these measure implimented saves 10 million, 100 million or a billion, well it would be worth it then. There are over 10,000 people claim political asylum in the states and receiving approx. 5000 dollars a month for YEARS. There should be limits on those perks too. It's time to change some laws, end some welfare systems, and start using common sense.

There needs to be a social safety net to protect women and children. Most states already have laws that force able bodied welfare recipients to go to work and/or receive food stamps.

Aslyees, people receiving assistance, the rich, middle, and lower income brackets etc. If you go to jail or prison, and they sieze your assets, you pay taxes on your assets. Tax fraud needs to be investigated more. You'd find more rich, and poor people are wrongfully claiming false tax breaks. Oh and everybody means CONGRESS, CABINET and FEDERAL JUDGES. Before I retired from the military I didn't get any tax breaks and I don't now.

@ThincKritically Because single people are not typically allowed to receive food stamps unless they are disabled or seniors. Unfortunately I don't think that many of them care if they are overweight or they just gave up on it years ago. The government tells them they are supposed to eat three meals a day. At some point if you don't like the feeling of not being able to move or walk properly you stop listening to ''authorities'' and take a stand on your own. Thanks.

@ThincKritically Yeah, I agree with that. So why is this mom being trashed the entire country has a obesity crisis? It is simple to just make remarks about what someone should to and not do. But it is not so simple when you are the one with the stress or the eating disorder and don't know why you can't lose weight. I figured my issue out on my own. It took years and now my weight has been consistently normal instead of fluctuating up and down 10 - 20 pounds.

I guess you know that America has an obesity problem and it's not just people on welfare and food stamps either. Look around at all the FAT middle class and seniors. If people need assistance with food, they should receive a bucket full of nutritional kibble once a month. Thats also what they should serve in jail. I'm not talking about dog food. I'm talking about food in pellet form with a full range of vitamins and minerals to keep a human nourished and healthy. They shouldn't be able to buy $260 worth of junk food!
