wow! 100% wow! I just watched this by accident via a random hyperlink, I'm glad I landed here this is beautiful music that only Jamiroquai can make, its funky and soul and sound great to dance to. Its also quite emotional in the middle chillout point
THIS IS ONE OF THE MANY EXAMPLE OF HIDDEN GEMS. THIS IS WHAT MUSIC IS ALL ABOUT. THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT WHEN I SAY "HIDDEN" THEY'RE NOT MAINSTREAM TOP 40 CA-CA! loving it!
They played Butterfly live at least once. it's in the 'Pori Jazz Festival' bootleg from 2002 or 2003...it was incredible, but Jay must've had a sore throat or something, he sounded totally unlike himself. Also played Blow Your Mind for the first time in a while.
if you go to stuartzender dot net and then go to the music room forum, you'll find a link to the 'jamiroquai bootleg archives'. in there, you can download pori jazz festival and a ton of other gigs thanks to mr. merrick. what a good guy, eh?
I was at the Pori Jazz Festival for that gig, it was fantastic! beautiful place but yeah Jay's voice was off, he said himself he was struggling with it. The Pori gig was a couple of days after the Montreux gig 2003, i remember hearing this song the night before we flew to finland to see them, good times!
Love this live version of STM and the rest of the songs after it (found the whole Montreux 2003 video elsewhere). Its a very nice introductory way of setting the funk mood for the set. I hope JK is working on another set of masterpieces.
i have this in mp3 format its 43 minutes long and 192kbps bit rate!! i think there is part 2 somewhere because it ends suddenly! its funny i heard it first now im watching it. putting the sound to the video its how i imagined it to be.
Yeah, I seriously also suspect that there could possibly be a 2nd part. Wouldn't surprise me if there was(in fact, I'd bet there's a great chance it exists on the net somewhere).
I'm very saddened to hear that this song was never released on 'A Funk Odyssey', especially since I finally got around to buying the album just a few days back, and never had heard Shoot the Moon before, until now. :(
Definately wouldn't be surprised if JK eventually releases this as part of a greatest hits album, or a B-side at some point, now that the band is on a new record label...
in regard to the complaints/concerns for not "releasing" or recording this song for a studio album could be intentional. Very well a draw for fans to come to live shows. I know "phish" had at least an album's worth of songs that were never released as a way to draw fans to the concerts and make the live show a more exciting experience. Just a thought...Jamiroquai 'til I die!!!
Damn, what a smooth groove. I just into Jamiroquai, so I dunno what's the deal with the bass players and all, but either way, these guys are SO sweet. Both old and new material are insane.
It may or never will be released either. This song, Canabliss and Funk Odyssey should have been on AFO album. But only way it will end up released is on a B Side.
I wuz there lol :P I remember it wuz like facing a new JQ somehow. but great song. but lol anyways their music changes instantly so :D . just hope they get back to more acid jazz ^^ that wuz the greatest ^^
Man!! Have people been sleeping on this group or what? There is no way you can tell me that Jamiroquai and their music should not be popular here in America. Stuff like, Shoot the Moon...is tight and pure classic.
Man wuvillian, you have no idea how much I HATE Fall Out Boy and Nickelback, and I am an American too. Creepier to think the former of the 2 bands is actually from a suburb of where I live....(Chicago)
Not to mention also, it's sad that Jamiroquai never became big in this country. I'm just sad that I didn't discover them until earlier this year, despite that they had, for a VERY long time, had been on my list of bands/musicians I'd eventually wanted to listen to.... (definately didn't disappoint me, and they're now, in such a short time, have become one of my all-time fav bands)
I couldn't agree more! It sucks when a band is loved worldwide but in your own country their are only a few you can share the music with and not get punched in the face or called gay.lol
I soooo agree!!! We miss all the bands that are hot in the UK like Zero 7, Seal, Brand New Heavies, Lisa Stansfield, Nothing But The Girl etc...Remember most of the music that was hot in the "Eighties" was from the UK!! Americans(And Im one of'em) are IDIOTS when it comes to music.
I absolutely love "Shoot the Moon"!!! I'm so angered it wasn't released as a single or at least on one of their albums as a bonus track! It's such a jazzy song...indeed it is!
