  • So how do we post our guild wars vids to machinima?

  • @darkjoe31 You have to have a contract, which you obtain if the machinima recruiter finds you and likes your videos.

  • @DominationDarren Ah, so we dont have to "apply" for a contract, its just based on luck if they find us out?

  • @darkjoe31 Pretty much, yeah.

  • @DominationDarren ah ok, I hope they find me!

  • @DominationDarren i used to have xfire i forgot the link thx dude

  • taksi just mostly depends on what settings you put in it. I know I got it to work very well, and (for me at least) better than fraps in both quality and speed (small vid file size too) so in my opinion: taksi ftw ;P

  • @testingte plus I must say that 1: WeGame is no longer 100% free...now the free version will only record in half res, and you have to become a VIP for full res. and 2: the *site* for Taksi says it hasnt been updated since 2006, but the latest update which will record sound was from this year

  • A great guide! Will you be making more?

  • @MaskofTK I plan to have an episode two coming around before too awful long. :P

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this i was mulling over in my head the want to make GW Machinima or some sort of Gameplay Commentary thingy....y

Might I suggest Camstudio as a possible software alternative

  • @mazzacanemedia I would recommend making a full on machinima. The result is much more rewarding than a commentary.

Camstudio is okay for web tutorials, but I wouldn't recommend it for video games. It would lag horrendously in most cases. You'd might as well use free alternatives that were made for recording games.

  • which recording software (besides taksi) records with less memory?

  • @KingdomGalaxy Well, I assume you're talking about RAM (random access memory). In that case, they're all about even. Out of Fraps and WeGame (the two I've tried excluding taksi) I'd say WeGame uses less RAM.

However if you were talking about storage, WeGame and Fraps are pretty even.

  • i used Gamecam trial version when i first started out, it was fine at the time before YT went HD and i didn't mind the watermark. But the quality of those vids has dropped, probably YTs fault.

I upgraded to Full Fraps version about 2 1/2 years ago when i bought my Vista64 system, Gamecam at the time didn't cover Vista64. I paid £10 for it, price has gone up now but you get updates for free and the quality is excellent. No regrets buying it, great value for money

Good guide, wheres part 2? hehe

  • @BogusDudeGW Episode 2 should be out before too awful long. :P

  • @DominationDarren Cool i'm sure people will find it all helpful stuff and i'd like to get more of my guildies involved in making their own (ready for gw2) so will direct them when your done.

I'm in middle of editting a machinima/dance type movie myself, should be done today or tomorrow.

Don't know if its something you use yourself, but for these kind of movies i find an AVI cutter/splitter very useful. Fraps is data hungry and it can spend a while on your PC and you tend to use alot of clips

  • @BogusDudeGW I, personally don't use AVI cutters. I've actually never even thought to look into any. lol

I find that, on days my PC is running particularly slow, I just record in lower quality which seems to not only use less storage, but also less RAM.

  • @DominationDarren something else you can try is a powerdefrag afterwards to improve the smoothness as all those Gb of data are gonna be scattered about all fragmented on your HDD. Its all time consuming but helpful, like reducing lag in preview. My movie i've just about finished used up 160Gb to record, i cut that down to 43Gb in clips, and i was generous with that. The editting time can be alot longer than the recording time so that space is nice to have free without loosing quality :)

  • @BogusDudeGW Thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely keep them in mind. And thanks for watching as well. =D

  • Nice guide, good work!

  • 1) Guild Wars is poopoo

    2) VOICE CHANGER?

  • @ChefKaito 1. no u

    2. I didn't use one. >.>

  • @DominationDarren

    Np for the sub,

The last video of yours I watched was a body-cam

Must have been an old video, you sound much older.

  • @ChefKaito Probably my green screen tutorial video or maybe my widescreen tutorial. Yeah, I haven't shown my face on a video in a while, so... :P

  • @ChefKaito 1 Dont be trolling us ya WoW fanboy

  • @jordz0005

In all reality, you would know more about WOW than I would

    Your ignorance is not welcome

  • @ChefKaito And your trolling is not welcome, so that makes 2 of us

  • @jordz0005

    How am I trolling?

  • @ChefKaito lets see calling guild wars crap

and saying im ignorant ya know

  • @jordz0005

the guild wars sucks thing is kind of an inside joke

and I'm sorry if I offended you

  • @jordz0005 Kaito's telling the truth. I know him. The GW Sucks thing is a joke between us. No trolling happened here. Now shake each others' hands before I call Boxxy in.

  • @DominationDarren 1 who is boxxy

    and 2 *shakes hand*

  • Nice comparison of the different recording software. I prefer Fraps myself.

The next episodes should cover the actual aspect of creating a machinima within Guild Wars. Up till today, I cannot find good ways of creating Guil Wars Machinimas without using the 3rd person or cut-scenes.

    Are there ways?

  • @KeuleMedia They will cover that. Most likely I will begin how to actually make camera angles in Episode Three (with episode two being editing software).

I'll PM you my main methods for making cameras in Guild Wars since it would exceed the comment limit most likely.

  • @DominationDarren yeah, that would be perfect, so I can start another GW movie ;)

  • i used gamecam also, it was my favourite, it didnt lag me as much as fraps does, but fraps isnt that bad of lag. i preferred the first version to the v2. xfire lags way too much, imo, never tried taksi.

  • Man... that intro music sure was sweet...

  • @DanzNewzMachinima Yeah. I made it all myself. lol jk

  • I really enjoyed it. It felt like you were talking to me and not at me.

  • i might just have to get this game

and yay for auacity voice pitch

  • @KyleAB5000 That's my actual voice >.>

It's just that my Xbox Live mic makes me sound like three years younger. lol

  • 1st!

  • @KRWFilms

    noone cares

  • @KyleAB5000 i know, i just like his videos

  • @KRWFilms
