Ted is Martin's highly effective guardian angel, w/ the gift of wisdom exponentially greater than his size. At the very end of the movie, were it not for Teddy, Martin's dream of having his mother back wud not have been possible (inexplicably Ted had a lock of Martin's Mom's hair which made it possible to recreate her)

For me too Ted stole the show.
