BTW, I agree, the original Manchurian is awesome. Got no opinion about the remake b/c I didn't bother seeing nor do I care. Besides...Who needs a remake like that when you got Nowhere Man?
I bought the Manchurian Candidate special edition from a Borders store a year ago with a coupon. It was really cheap after the coupon around $5. Nothing else caught my eye at that time. I still haven't watched it. I have the remake on DVD as well. I probably should see the original ASAP.
thank you! all my co-workers liked the remake better than the original... buncha bums! the remake was weak, especially how they pussed out at the end.
and i' sorry, but meryl streep can never compare to angela lansbury. hell, darth vader and hannibal lecter can't compare...
and i loved johnny mnemonic! did you ever read the story? they had to expand it for the movie... kinda good, kinda bad, but a fun movie all around!
Have you gotten around to watching the Scream Trilogy yet? I remember having seen them a long time ago but I have no idea if they were any good. I was real young when I first saw them.
Not yet, we were re-watching all 8 series of Red Dwarf the past couple of weeks, and at the moment we're absorbed with Exo-Squad (which is just awesome). I'll probably watch them on my own at some point, Annetta's not that keen on seeing them.
More of a political thriller than a crime drama, I'd say. Assissination conspiracies, brainwashing, good men coerced into doing bad things, that sort of thing. Very tense and well made!
It's pretty close to DVD quality, but without any digital artifacting since it was a time base corrected analog video signal, rather than digitized video. The resolution was slightly lower than DVD, but comparing a well made LD to a well made DVD you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. I made a video about Laserdisc a while back called "Laserdisc - The Format no One Respects" where I go into detail about a lot of the features we enjoy today that actually started with Laserdisc.
more bluray!...i just got pinochhino and sleeping beauty and not at all ashamed to admit that, they are amazing in 1080 on the DLP...also blockbuster bluray rentals are $2 then $1 for each additional day when did that happen?!
Oh, I know all about those! :) I've been participating in the discussion about it with Brian Ward over on the Shout Factory boards for a while now... :)
When they release a fullscreen version of the season sets that isn't cropped like the current sets, I will. Until then, I won't support the butchering of what many consider a modern classic anime series like that.
I like how there are different people that never grew up in the late 70s & 80s reply about the Recliner Chair, thinking the chair has been burnt or covered in blood. lol. Tweens & Corporate have taken over Youtube, so Irreverent.
Lol! I know, it's been boggling my mind that I've been getting such a ridiculous number of comments about my CHAIR... Not like it's the first time I've done videos in it!
I agree about all the re-makes that are lined up in hollywood to be done, they should hire some fresh writing tallent ,i carnt wait for the real ghostbusters overview, can i ask how many seasons were made ? ,,as all i can find is season 1 ,i dont know if i should get it or see if a collection set comes out later on ,also could you tell us your thoughts on the ghosstbusters 3 movie which is in the pipeline, the original cast are mentors to a new bunch of guys, aparrently, that movies LONG overdue !
Speaking of remakes, seen the Star Trek trailer and TV Spot? They have this really annoying campaign they are doing. I mean it should have Jerry Goldsmith music score, NOT "Ladies and Gentlemen" by Saliva.
Johnny Mnemonic. :) The movie was based on a short story by William Gibson. Orbital is awesome! I've always loved their stuff. Event Horizon is one of my all time fave sci-fi horror films.
zaranyzerak i have watched almost all your videos and listen to podcast i have been wanting to start one i wondering do you have any tips for me if you do let me know thanks oh ya by the way yay! 1st comment
Best advice I can give anyone is simply - Do what you know and love! The more interest the person hosting a podcast has in their subject, the more interesting it's likely to be for the listener. That's been my experience, at least... And most importantly, have fun with it! :)

I didn't expect you to review a satire like Art School Confidential. That's my fault for not browsing your channel thoroughly.

I love crime dramas )thanks mostly to Scorsese) does The Manchurian Candidate really fit in in that genre?

I agree, remakes are taking over the film business. Did you hear about The Crow and Robocop remake?
The orignal Manchurian Candidate is a classic!
