i have an xfx nforce 750a motherboard with a am3+ amd phenom 9850 2.87 ghz cpu.... my case has decent cooling... how fast should i overclock it cuz im tryin to get a msi 760 2 gb graphics card and play the shit out of the new metro comin out. Oh and PS what the fuck with the "low sperm count" video in the recommended....
i have amd athlon 64 3500+ and he is prety good my core voltage is 1.360 and frequency 2.2ghz and i am running WINDOWS 7 ULTYMATE 64 BIT NO PROBLEM and skyrim too and i want to overclock it a little but im not sure is it safe.i was overclocking intel pentium d dual core from 3.0 to 3.3 whit no problem
@fanmetal5 it depends on the motherboard, assuming you are running an aftermarket board, it will be specific to the manufacturer. For instance, my current motherboard is made by Gigabyte (instead of ASUS as in the video) and the overclocking options for my board are listed under "motherboard intelligent tweaker"
Did you know that by overclocking you can get an extra 12 fps in your games, without even having to get another fan? The guide on my site is really cheap and helps you to overclock your computer, step by step, making it better than a high end thousand dollar one!
I don't know if this will help anybody else, but with some motherboards, particularly Gigabyte's, you will need to hit Ctrl+F1 to show the "Advanced Chipset Features" section.
Is there a general Rule for upping the the FSB and lowering the H/T , If you Up the FSB by 20% then you have to lower the H/T by 20% ,I'm brand new to AMD , (Used Intel for Years , But I wanted to see what a 100$ Quad could do) , I got a 635 x4 running @ 245 FSB , 3.5 Ghz with minor Voltage tweaks on an ASUS M4A785-M motherboard ,I'm just trying to figure out a Rough Math formula for the settings , Lowering the H/T setting gained stability but lowered Performance Slightly ....
Okay, I think I get it. Basically underclocking the RAM compensate for the increase of the CPU? I'll check out your memory timing video, because that's what really throws me off!
@kenmha Ah, very good observation. It would, now to compensate for your slower ram, you would overclock your NB, this is the connection to your ram and would compensate for the slower ram bandwidth. And overclocking hte RAM timings (see my other video) would also help.
What i'm trying to say is: if you work with your other system clocks, you can compensate for lost RAM bandwidth
@GTAIVman depends on the manufacturer of the Board, that was on an ASUS M4N82 Deluxe. You should have a tab for that, unless of course you are using a store-bought computer
Hey man i am succsesfully OCing the cpu like it boots and i stress it and it woks fine but once i restart or turn the pc off and then on again it fails ? any ideas ?
Im 14 and i do sort of get this but i have an amd phenom 8600 Triple Core 2.30 GHz. And im not sure if this will work, and i dont have liquid cooling but i have a big case and my temps are always low on speedfan so maybe i could overclock a bit, but still i'm not sure if i can do this, can some1 tell me if i can?
oh course you can. All i said is you need some cooling, you don't need a 400 dollar liquid cooling setup, a $30 cooler should start you on your way. And the 8650 is AM2, everything i said in these videos will work for you, assumung you didn't buy a pre-built computer
@asillynoob i already have a power supply but u probably mean get a better one. thats what i want to do, upgrade power supply and get sli graphics. Maybe u know my problem- when i watch video in widesrean, the computer either freezes and i cant move the mouse or the screan goes black and i have to restart it.
@Xrox122 Well ofcourse unless your the "MOREMOREMORE" type... ofcourse, but overclocking 3.0 Ghz is totally pointless unless you want 6 games and 20 programs open at the same time..
ref. clock and FSB are the same thing (i said it one of my 4 videos)
your RAM will potentially become unstable using your Ref. clock, lower the multiplier in that case, OR if you have a BE CPU, then see my black edition OCing video
