I'll be uploading a few more vids of the Second Amendment CC and OC March 04/10/10 on the State of Ohio capital grounds. Lots of well armed law abiders at the state capital.
First of all, to say that we are all soldiers is an insult to solders/ ex-soldiers. I was infantry in the Army for many years, and during that time received very specific training. It scares me that the average person can carry a weapon openly on his person. What is the reason for open carry? To give the possible criminal a heads up on who to shoot first? This law is outdated and needs to be rescinded. Oh by the way you can go to jail for inducing panic if people start to panic over your weapon
Your entitled to your opinion. I suggest you read the entire incident that caused this walk before you jump on it. As for soldiers comment. That's the other posters opinion not mine. I do think that this has its place and I support those that do it. Again this was about a protest in reference to abuses by Northwood PD.
Im looking at all the people carrying and they dont seem to be causing a lot of alarm. My opinion of your view is that you seem to be carrying you anger to a new extreme. These people were not AVENGING one on thier own, but merely showing the police that they have thier limitations and need to abide by them. This just gave them a little incentive.
@centurionsquad The sad thing is, you are advocating rescinding a right, not a law. THe reason we have open Carry is because of the Second Ammendment. It's not just the right to keep Arms, but to Bear them as well. To have them on our person for protection.. As far as other people being offended or worried about that.. Oh well. They have a right to be offended, but do not have the right to restrict my rights because of it.
@centurionsquad - Those carrying a holstered weapon can go to jail for inducing panic? Maybe we should start getting scared over law enforcement officers carry firearms then. It would only be a liberal who would "panic" over someone LEGALLY carrying a firearm. They never seem to worry about the criminals being armed though...
There is no law against OC. In fact the Ohio Attorney Generals handbook on Concealed carry says it is legal on page 18 and 19. You can download it at the AG's website. The cops bluffed you. Go to Ohioans for concealed carry for more on open carry.
I live near dayton and I mowed my grass with a pistol on my hip on my own property and the neighbors called 911.They came and told me I was NOT breaking any law but that I shouldnt do it again.
Open Carry in Ohio is legal for lawful citizens. However review the law for people who dont know about it. Im not sure when you get into a car open carry with out a permit if they consider that concealed. I dont. But you know how the politic boys in columbus and all over are
Once you enter a car with your handgun in any fashion other than described in ORC 2923.16 A,B or C you must have a CHL. Handgun in car with you means concealed if its in any condition other than the listed code above if you don't possess a CHL, according to Ohio law. Only handguns are covered by CHL. Long guns must be carried according to 2923.16 A,B,C by everyone regardless of CHL status. If you have a CHL handguns must be carried in a car according to 2923.16 E through K regarding CHL.
I would tell them they don't have to legally but they SHOULD mind their own damn business or you'll start calling the police on them for random things that aren't illegal either.
Hoohhhrahhh!!! I gave you a thumbs up!People forget we are alllllllllllllll soliders. We have the right to bare arms!!! The USA is the Military!!!! Then we have the over seas politics.... :-/

Not in all states. Here in VA, you can panic all you want and I can open carry an AR-15 if I feel like it. Why? the Second amendment.

@l1nuxun1l - AMEN! This is EXACTLY the way it should be in ALL 50 STATES!

No permit needed for OC. For concealed carry you need to be licensed.
ohioleadslinger 2 years ago
so there is no required permit?

You are right about that, in fact this is a direct copy from the 200808_ccw_book.pdf file downloaded from the Attorney General's website:
"Open Carry
Ohios concealed carry laws do not regulate open carry of firearms.
If you openly carry, use caution. The open carry of firearms is a legal
activity in Ohio."
