Such a big plane could hurt someone! It's a luck that noone hurt! I think these RC "flying bomb" things must have some saving/protection stuff like parachutes, airbags, etc triggered by a radio control lost signal or better "earth ahead" signal (:)) or whatever. They do have a radio feedback data, don't they?
outside of the fact that I'm sure this was an expensive repair (relative to other hobbies), this looks like a pretty GOOD crash. The fuselage didn't shatter to tiny pieces and it didn't explode. Why didn't it explode?
I can't believe some of you thought it was a real plane it obviously wasn't because there was no explosion when crashed and it is way to small. Come on people use your brains
Sorry for your loss! It was painful to watch! Beautiful plane! It does seem strange that you were flying it far away with no problems, and it loses radio signal over your head? Were there no other factors involved?
Shiiittt!! I think anyone that has owned anything remote controlled knows that feeling-I remember when the signal died on my 1/10th Gas road car on full power. First comes the futile attempt at running after it and then whilst huffing and puffing you are forced to watch it launch up a gutter and into a fence smashing into pieces. To add insult to injury, whats left of it laid upside down revving its tits off and by the time i got there the overevving broke the conrod. I feel your pain believe me
Ah man! Those lock outs really hit you in the nuts when it happens on the REALLY expensive ones. Looked like everything went to fail safe like it was suposed to, but just not enough sky to get it back. Sorry to see that man, but it happens to a lot of us. I know exactly how you felt when it went to failsafe. Not much you can do but cringe, wait for the crash, and hope it doesn't hurt someone. Keep you're head up and build another one. It's all you can do.
Wow, I am really sorry about the crash Bob. Some kind of strange malfunction definitely happened there. Hopefully some of the parts are still salvageable. Keep up the good work. I have been enjoying your videos from the beginning.
Oh crap! Just saw the video and felt my stomach churn as that beautiful airplane turned into a yard dart. I feel terrible for your loss and hope that you will be able to salvage more than bad memories. Keep 'em flying!
It looked to have been a little to much surface throw on the elevators from takeoff. What do think Bob. Sorry about the loss but like you said if you cant bare to lose one then you shouldnt be flying one. Keep at it buddy.
To me it kinda sounded like a flutter. Are You sure it was a lockout as the flutter would explain the models behaviour quite well...Had the engine just quit, You should still have a gliding model instead of what I just saw...One elevator broke and put the model into spin...Sorry for Your loss.
You have 4 satellite receavers, thats very strange that you had lock out. Was your radio antenna pointing upwards towards the plane? and also, is there a weader radar station close by?
Bob I feel for ya man, hope you can salvage as much as you can. I know finding the humor in a bad situation can be a good thing. Here's my bit of a smile I got from this. Right after the flame out occurs there is a voice. I may be wrong but after listening to it a couple of times it almost sounds like it says "Oh Goody."
I was reading yesterday (before viewing the video) at a JetCat representative site about static electricity discharge doing some harm to recivers and ECU. The theory is that the fuel shaking in the tanks could be a source of charge beeing generated, not to talk about the friction of the air at high speed over so much composite surface???
Very sorry about the crash! Clearly not a pilot error, and a reminder that there are other things that might fail. Worse, the chance is bigger if more components are involved which is the bomber case. I came across a CO2 electric firing system sold at a company rouse-tech (usual pre and postfix). Maybe a nice project for Dad and his skills, that only requires a hatch
and a strong fixing point and maybe the SR71 can benefit too. I mean to use a parachute controlled with another radio?
i dont can trust my eyes! holy thats bad! But there was noch chance for you to figure this heavy problem out at this high :(...sry for you bob it was a nice plane hope some electronics and engine still working!
I feel sick.....I'm so sorry to see that Bob. I know the 'gut wrenching' feeling you must have as I lost $4500AUD in the ocean just before Xmas, never got a thing back.
ouch...good thing it decided not to hit anyone on its way down, was that an eletronics failure? or did the engine let go? it sure came to a halt in a hurry.....thats not something ya want to happen there...hope the engine is repairable...
Did you use the stock pipe? If you did and it is to small for the P-200 it will run hotter and could induce premature bearing failure. Sorry for your lose...
Wow, I feel terrible Bob, I hate to see something like that. I'll Paint the new heli black with a playboy bunny on the side in memory of it's F-4 big brother.
now with that crash being due to a catastrophic engine failure, is that something jetcat will warranty? will they pay for loss of the plane and all components or will they only warranty the engine?

@Xnaron o yea landing gear and servos and turbine is ok I will send it in and will get it back like new ecu and fuel pump is ok wouldent take much jest a new kit
Even my wife was horrified by that crash ... and she's a sadistic nurse (they all are) who's not into RC at all ..... much like everyone else I'm REALLY sorry to see that, it's gut wrenching when you lose something you have placed your heart and sole into building (and money too boot), even if it was an ARF and not one of your scratch builds that thing had love and time on her that cannot be replaced!
Sounded and looked like a engine failure that took out the air system and reciever. As soon as the compressor quit, the gear popped out and she rolled over. Sorry Bob

Hi Bob! that really sucks!!
it seems that your RC went to failsave. probably lost the signal when flying over the tip of the antenna or a fresnel-zone distortion/interference.
I use the ACT 3D-sender-diversity-system to get rid of this. (if you want infos about it contact me) - keep up the good work!!
