That is such a valid point about just how fickle society is at times, people such as Pete are marginilised and serve a function by being vilified by a society who is unwilling to understand the true consequences of substance dependence, yet they agreeably ignore problems that are socially acceptable & "legal" such as alcohol,Tobacco, prescription drugs & such, for they are far from innocuous, It is a medical/social problem and it would service us all better not to be a criminal one.....

The press became involved in his life in early 2004 and haven't gave up since he started dating Kate Moss. It became THE biggest story in Britain for a period of time. Yes, he writes decent music but he also does stupid things and you have to weigh it out sometimes. He has been arrested so many times and his haters have a decent point. I couldn't live his life though, fair play to him for coping with it. I aint here to blow smoke up his arse but respect for dealing with the journos in his life.

Peter is extremely talented and has a good heart.
Yes he's had a few problems and fucked up on some things, but I'm not the fucking 'moral police' and neither are those of u leaving cheapshot comments.
some of you coming on here with the sole intent of bashing him, just have a listen to his music (especially with The Libertines) and perhaps you'll change your minds; if not that's fair enough, but as I said before I believe he's a huge talent and many music fans agree with me :)

Im not shooting myself in the foot at all. The issue here is of credibility. Of course everyone is free to have their own musical tastes. I am simply doing two things here;
1. Stating that Pete's music is his own, thus concluding that he is not a manufactured product of the music industry as his music is his own.
2. I state & stand by my belief that Akon is an entertainer NOT a musician, and therefore people who are into manufactured music know little or nothing about the true art of music.

Well my point is that you sorta lose a bit of credibility using the "they're listening to shit so their opinion doesnt matter" argument ;-) Wether we like or hate Peter's music, it's all subjective and I don't consider I have better taste in music than others because I listen to Peter instead of Akon. That, my friend, is the true art and the true power of music: touching different people differently. Not trying to start an argument tho, since I'm clearly on Peter's side ;)

If I said to you that Shakespeare was a crap writer what would your response be? The fact is you may not like Shakespeare but we know his use of the English language was among the best in the world. If I was then to say that I thought Shantel from Big Brother wrote a better book, would that not draw into question my understanding of literature?

Don't you think u're pushing the comparison a bit far? As much as I like Pete, he only has a couple of albums behind him and it's a bit too soon to start building him a shrine. And again, I aint questioning your understanding of music since we obviously have the same tastes. I'm just saying the argument you used was a bit lame and that it (just like the tone you used) could actually put people off instead of making them want to listen to Peter's musing before judging him.
