Anyone who is a law abiding citizen shouldn't be worried about having their information on the database. And FYI, they don't have your whole genetic code, only the information for 11 loci which provide a specific enough profile for it to be highly unlikely that a match will be found between yourself and someone else, providing you're not an identical twin. All they have is 20 numbers and 1 letter on a computer screen. There's nothing there that gives any hint of your personal details!
The problem isn't that the police or government use it for good but what if the government and the police are criminals and use it for wrong? Everyone can be a criminal.
I always know the fact that Police will not conduct such effort to prevent crime. They know very clearly that they can only serve as prosecuting unit. There should be a more complicated explanation behind this motive.
The former Chairman of GlaxoSmithKline, Sir Richard Sykes, has predicted that within 20 years most people in developed countries will receive pre-symptomatic treatment while they are still healthy . Whilst expanding the drug market in this way is clearly in the interest of the pharmaceutical industry, it is not clear it serves the interests of the public or the NHS.
I was arrested for an alleged assault where a statement was threatened to be made as a way of getting back at me for an unrelated dispute this I found out later.
I was therefore kept in a cell overnight and placed onto the police DNA database including my fingerprint records and mug shots.
I subsequently wrote to the police to request my removal from the DNA database As a response they tried to compel the person who made the statement on the night to press charges - The police are corrupt
"We have 2 recent murder cases... ...er?, granted nothing like 911, uh? for which the perps by the way, are one in the same whom want to collect everyone's DNA, and then reduce world population by 90% um? never the less, it would help solve these 2 murders"

Everyone is a criminal until proven innocent. You can plant DNA easier than a finger print.
