Charice is better, definitely. Melanie is still good though, she just needs to work on control, breathing & pitch issues (i.e. her rendition of I Have Nothing by Whitney). But they both have talent, there's no doubt about it :)

To be Honest i Like Charice's performance more than Melanie's.Charice is very skilled singer at such a young age which is amazing,i've never heard such a brilliant voice since Whitney Houston.And as for Melanie she's a talented very talented but for me Charice voice is more dynamic and effortless.
The situation is what makes Melanie's version so special. Imagine Charice at 16 like she was in this Oprah party video, only she is unknown and auditioning on X-Factor like Melanie. Every judge and most of the audience would have to go change their drawers after Charice got finished. Charice would have had the ultimate blow away moment in the history of X-Factor, American Idol, AND Star Search; just like she did on Ellen at age 15 and her first appearance on Oprah at barely 16.
p.s. I like charice. She's such an inspiration and so is Melanie. They are both good although I prefer Charice's because her voice is deep and the soul in it is huge.

Hell yes MTC I agree! Someone commented on Mel's xfactor vid, this particular girl was meant to be studying, instead she watched the xfactor audition 7times in a row. I'm a 37yro man (with a 12yro daughter which is why I watched it in the 1st place) & I did the same thing. fildxb88, I am in TOTAL agreeance with you on this one! Melanie - beautiful, effortless voice. Ayegee - strong, elegant voice. Charice's voice has soul. It has depth. It has meaning. A song with no feeling is just lyrics with lovely notes & instruments. She told a story. She made you listen. Even the most vain person would have felt some of her pain and/or liberation in what she was saying. Her entire performance (vocal and body interpretation of the song) painted a colorful picture.
All these ladies can sing. Melanie has a good voice and she can belt this song effortlessly to the point that you can't feel any emotion. But, CHARICE? Oh my! It's not about forcing when she sings. It's all about taking out the right emotion and the right moves/gestures. It's adds to her confidence and very strong stage presence. She has been through a lot in her young life and it shows in the way she sings. So sincere that you can almost feel it to the bones.

THe second lady isn't even comparable, and I personally felt Melanie had more control than Charice, though Charice hit bigger notes. I would take the control over the big crazy notes over and over again. GO MELANIAE YOU DESERVE TO GO ALL THE WAY!!!

Charice can sing wonderfully, but I choose Melanie. Melanie's vibrato is faster and she enunciates much better. Not to mention Charice kind of has a lag in her voice. Both are really good singers though! Melanie all the way.. sorry!

The situation is what makes Melanie's version so special. Imagine Charice at 16 like she was in this Oprah party video, only she is unknown and auditioning on X-Factor like Melanie. Every judge and most of the audience would have to go change their drawers after Charice got finished. Charice would have had the ultimate blow away moment in the history of X-Factor, American Idol, AND Star Search; just like she did on Ellen at age 15 and her first appearance on Oprah at barely 16.

Hell yes MTC I agree! Someone commented on Mel's xfactor vid, this particular girl was meant to be studying, instead she watched the xfactor audition 7times in a row. I'm a 37yro man (with a 12yro daughter which is why I watched it in the 1st place) & I did the same thing. Charice is awesome and technically fantastic, BUT I couldnt help but fell the raw emotion when Melanie sang it. Truely spellbinding. PS: Some perspective, this is my first vere post on YT. A song with no feeling is just lyrics with lovely notes & instruments. She told a story. She made you listen. Even the most vain person would have felt some of her pain and/or liberation in what she was saying. Her entire performance (vocal and body interpretation of the song) painted a colorful picture.

All these ladies can sing. Melanie has a good voice and she can belt this song effortlessly to the point that you can't feel any emotion. But, CHARICE? Oh my! It's not about forcing when she sings. It's all about taking out the right emotion and the right moves/gestures. It's adds to her confidence and very strong stage presence. She has been through a lot in her young life and it shows in the way she sings. So sincere that you can almost feel it to the bones.
