Honey was such a fine drummer. Her 'Wipeout' on the Live In Tokyo album case in point! Remember seeing her in 64 on the telly when only a 4 year old little boy! My mum kept telling me Honey was winking at me! More innocent times!
Great to see a video of the group, and especially those Burns guitars which featured in so many line-ups, including the Shads. Joe really knew how to get the best sound out of them! (and the Honeycombs.)
Love this song! Props to Honey Lantree---I was in awe of her talent, as in those times, you just didn't see female drummers. I'm glad that has changed. She is still so beautiful!
Please can someone point me in the right direction to get in touch with Honey Lantree - a mutual friend Ian Forbes will be celebrating his 65th Birthday and would love for Honey too come along - as he was talking about the days when they were younger and the friendship they had! My contact no is 07928 730604 or
I had the pleasure of meeting both Honey & Denny D'ell at the 'Joe Meek' Lewisham gig in June 1991. A lovely Lady she is, very friendly and enjoyed chatting about the Band, a Treasured memory.
Honey was like no other in rock,,in fact,,I can't think of anyone today that drum's like her,,,I alway's thought she held the song's together..THe band could have done a lot better if they had more decent material...I alway's thought,,(at the risk of offending any beatle purist's) she would have been the perfect fit for the beatles...sorry ringo..
@redredreds100 she's talking about Joe Meek, the record producer, he produced 45 hit singles for acts like the honeycombs, heinz, the tornadoes, etc...
@KrayzeeVideos well you tell your nan that i've never seen a pic of her for over thirty years and that i would have recognised her straight away! tell her that she looks super cool and if she gets rid of your granddad i'll marry her!
@KrayzeeVideos Really? She's your nan? Seriously? Blimey! I saw The Honeycombs late last year, it was just such a shame that Honey weren't with 'em no more. She was so pretty during the Sixties, and from what I've just seen, she still don't look bad now. She also had such a lovely voice. One question, though: why ain't she with The Honeycombs no more? (Just out of curiosity!) :/
I am trying to write a biography of The Honeycombs for the web, and I have first hand stories from Martin Murray, as well as all the commonly known info.
I suppose it is ridiculous to hope that I could get in touch?
My sister in law got Have I the Right for my 14th birthday and the record was virtually played non stop at my party...Happy Memories when I hear ths record...and HONEY I LOVE YOU!!!
@RickenbackerRules - There's a superb film available on DVD called TELSTAR, about the rise to fame of Joe Meek and his huge success, but in the end he was pretty mad and a depressive and that led to his downfall. Great film, well worth watching if your interested in his life story.
A great drummer and still a looker. Interesting anecdote about Joe Meek -- every tale I've ever heard about him sounds like he was an absolute nightmare to work with, sound genius or no. Not surprising that he came to the end he did. I guess here in the States, our equivalent of Meek, Phil Spector, took a LOT longer to finally lose it and take a life. Thanks for posting this, and R.I.P. Mr. Meek.
Honey sing "Something I Got To Tell You" on their 2d LP "All Systems Go", with feelings. I have both and 7 singles, but Dennis voice had it all from rock, pop, u name it. Martin knew what he did...
I was 14 years old Honeycombs hit that´s the way, took my heart and still do. Honeycombs performed here in north Sweden -65 the Midsummer-festival in Sikfors 50 km from Luleå, does someone remember,Honey? John? Allan? Peter Pye? Martin???
To Honey Lantree...would you like to have dinner with an incredibly handsome man from the States?! I feel it couldn't hurt to ask! Anyway, very good luck with the rest of your career, Honey!
hi just saw you on Showtime, they were playing the documentry? Pop Gear here in America.I was born in 1952,grew up in Calif, loved the 60's,you were the drummer in the Honeycombs, great song, you look great.

Is it just me, or does Lantree have exceptionally big hands for a lady? If the latter is the case I'm no longer surprised she was a drummer! LOL
