  • How the hell did they manage to get so many people to keep from laughing?

  • JUSTIFY MY LOVE : Madonna's Girlie Show 93'

Gesture, posture and pretending just to Hide dark and basic insticts.....

She's the Queen of re invention!

  • What a seriously remarkable job of casting interestingly looking extras!

    They all had FACES!

  • oh how much ignorance is written here

  • Freddy is so cute. @_@

  • MY CHILDHOOD!

  • Great video, but why cut out when she says "COME ON DOVER! MOVE YOUR BLOOMIN' ARSE!" because it only comes in about 30 more seconds! :(

  • Some serious HAUTE COUTURE GOING ON HERE!

  • Did anyone else notice that roses bording outfit and hat in Titanic is obviously inspired by this scene...

  • A couturiere's nightmare results in an audience's dream of the perfect garb....♥

  • I need to watch this again! Anyone has any idea where I could watch this movie online? This is my childhood memory. :]

  • @JullesCwen torrent

  • Amazing costume design!

  • i love this scene the music it great.. idc i like it

  • I know it's set in the nineteenth century, but there's something very 60s about the black and white.

  • The beginning of this scene creeped me out the first time I saw it.

  • Style....... Class.......... Grace......... Charm.......... Beauty........

Nope, they DON'T make 'em like that any more.

This is art of the highest order.

God, even I'd wear one of those dresses! (if I could fit into it)

Every time I see this scene I laugh from start to finish until tears roll down my face..

  • Those hats! Like William and Kates wedding all over again! Haha!

    Love this movie!

  • 6:07 "And Freddy *Sherlock Holmes**cough cough* Eynsford-Hill."

  • MOVE YOUR BLOOMIN ASS!

my favorite part of the movie

  • "C'MON DOVER!!!!! MOVE YOUR BLOOMIN' ASS!!!"

That's right, Eliza, show these high class snobs how to keep it real!

  • Royal Ascot could do no better than copy the style displayed in my Fair Lady.

Absolutely fantastic. Come on ......one of you upcoming designers, go for it.

    Sixtyschild1

  • my car is named after this movie lol

  • luxury

  • They are really enthusiastic about those horses, aren't they?

  • I want one of those dresses!!

  • I went to the races yesterday and i don't remember this happening. But I do remember a girl collapsed on the ground, two guys pissing in a corner and a brawl breaking out. Stay classy, gents.

  • @s004237 I know this stuff never happens at the races anymore :(

  • if i ever get rich i will dress like these people lol

  • Nasan ang horse??!!!!

  • "DO I NOT?!"

  • I love seeing Jeremy Brett giggling and fawning too. He's more famous as the Fearless Sherlock Holmes in later years, after Basil Rathbone of course. it's just fun to see a goofey jeremy vs. a confident Sherlock.

  • Arhh! I want Audrey Hepburn's body!!! Seriously!

  • Women in 1913 needed a sky crane to put on those huge hats! It's easy to see how they could have devoted hours daily just in dressing and changing.

  • everyone wearing black and white at the horse track, Im sure THEY ARE'nt FREEMASONS!

  • 7 people got done in...

  • man, i luuv this sene..when everyone is still...lol

  • I want Audrey's hat absolutely!

  • damn.. lady gaga aint got nothin on some of these chicks ha ha

  • @steelwindow199 so true

  • I can just imagine how many times they must have choreographed to it came out just right...XD

  • Am I the only one who wishes we still had hats like those??

  • @myvote99 no, sister, im with ya.

  • @NataliaWeronikaD Thank you!! It is so true! I mean, look at them!! They are huge!!! =0-0= YAY!!

  • Audrey Hepburn is impossible to be described with words. I totally love this woman.

  • so cute

  • whats funny is girls will still wear hats like that to horse races in england

  • hahahahahah!!! :D <3 Audrey and Jeremy!!!

  • SO funny how everyone flows so smoothly together until Henry comes blundering in and crashes into that lady. Her expression is priceless. =)

  • I probably already commented on this video, but I want those dresses. I need those dresses in my life.

  • @BabyGirlGoddess I think they'd pretty simple to make. Trust me, I've thought about this for years! It seems to me that theres a few base patters that were simply embellished. I cant promise you that they would be inexpensive, but theyre definately dooable

  • @BabyGirlGoddess I'll take the hats.

  • @BabyGirlGoddess AGREED!! JUST ONE DAMN IT !! ONE!!!

  • @BabyGirlGoddess Same here

  • Every one who should be here is here. What a disagreeable surprise.

  • I love this scene and I love Audrey Hepburn.

  • Comment removed

  • "drank! my word, something chronic!" i break up every time i watch this scene! "what r u sniggling at?" priceless... i can watch it all day. & that outfit shes in is the hotness! i love it....

  • LOVE the costumes! And Audrey does the posh talk so well for such a - dainty - actress for lack of a better word

  • je comprend pas tous ce qu'elle dit dans cette scène mais cette Audrey Hepburn, elle est vraiment formidable.

  • 1:28/9:19 saulet

  • and in one scene

    get them all to walk

and then then you go and use the

    peepsyou based the kins on

  • it's as if you could pause anywhere in this video and it could have been a famous painting

  • C'mon Dover! Move your bloomin' arse! LMAO!!!

  • Freddy Hill is the one who " spoiled a poor girl's flowers than ran away without payin'" in the beginning of the movie :)

  • where is the "horse race"?

  • I suppose England was pretty cool back at that time. There's no way on Earth you will catch me wearing a tuxedo in broad daylight unless I'm in an A/C'ed place.

  • 6 people's aunt died of Influenza

  • Them whom she lived with would have killed her for a hat pin hahaha

  • They all look American...

  • @andyright2000 they all look fantastic

  • I love the lady at "What a smashing, positively dashing" who freezes into the 'S' shape of her hat.

  • This is my favorite part of the movie! Beautifully choreographed, wonderfully directed and stunning costumes!

  • In my opinion this scene optimized the genius that was Edith Head. What a talent.

  • When I got this movie as a kid, every time it got to the end of the Ascot Gavotte I would go back and rewatch it at least 10 more times before going on with the rest of the movie.

  • beautifully shot

  • I'm not getting a picture on this, just a black screen and the advertisement at the bottom. :((((

  • Beginning song is lolz

And why do these need those thingie (that look like binoculars) to see something right there?!

  • This is my favorite scene in the whole movie! This is by far the best movie ever. I especially love the big hats. They're gorgeous and hilarious at the same time!

    Beautiful!

  • The new small talk -- you do it so awfully well lol

  • "Thats the new small talk"---LOVE IT!

  • Out of all the scenes in this movie this one always stands out the most to me!

  • Them has pinched it, done her in.

Not her, gin was mother's milk to her, besides he poured so much down his own throat, he knew the good of it.

  • Omg.. i love it when Higgins puts the teacup on his head!

  • i can never watch 6:05 -9:19 without pausing because i am laughing so hard... this was an epic win when i first saw it.. and still is.. "what are you sniggering at?" L.M.F.A.O XD

  • 7:04-8:08 makes a great 1 minute female monolouge if you cut out all the other people talking

  • Thumbs up if they say your aunt died of influenza but it's your belief they've done the old woman in.

  • Fantastic scene. Custumes beautiful

  • She looked so lovely in that outfit.

  • Look for a young Jeremy Brett! He plays Freddy, and later on in life, played Sherlock Holmes for the Granada series. He was the best Holmes!

  • @Chikin1ninjas Rathbone was by far the best.

  • @JuanMacready

I suppose I cannot, in fairness, disagree with your opinion as I have not yet seen a complete Sherlock Holmes adventure which features Basil Rathbone. I just could not bear the way Watson was portrayed. Ah well. Perhaps I should give it a try anyway.

Have you seen the Granada series?

  • @Chikin1ninjas Yeah. Nigel Brce was certainly far better than the boring Edward Hardwicke.

  • @JuanMacready

That may be so, but what about David Burke? He played Watson in the first season, but quit the job to spend more time with his family. Afterwards, he was replaced by Hardwicke.

I think Burke did quite well while he was on the show.

  • @Chikin1ninjas Yes, Burke looked too young. Watson is supposed to be three years older than Holmes, but Burke was actually younger than Brett.

  • @JuanMacready

what utter rubbish. Hardwicke was a fine actor and a fine Watson and Bruce payed Watson as comic relief.

  • @ruthmeb Bruce was hilarious, Hardwicke was just boring and had a ridiculous wig.

  • @ruthmeb I agree wholeheartedly with you. But JuanMacready is a Troll. He likes to make useless comments on every My Fair Lady video because he speaks so much bull no one listens to him in the real world.

Have a very nice day, for you are someone who certainly knows a beautiful classic movie when they see it.

    :D

  • MOVE YER BLOOMIN ASS

  • look at those hats but audreys dress is amazing

  • i adore her dress in this scene the most, it's so simple and super elegant. She looks absolutely stunning in this amazing dress. :-)

  • I love when Eliza starts showing her real self. Her 'small talk' is hilarious. And the reactions are priceless. Also, Audrey Hepburn is breathtaking in this as she is in every movie.

  • Perfect example of English etiquette...

  • Please someone tell me who made those costumes???????????????????

  • @TheTyaptyap

    Cecil Beaton

  • Love the ladies's outfits! Now i know where Lady Gaga gets her dresses done^^

  • I love how awkward 6:16 is.

  • The costume designers must have had an ever-lovin' ball with this scene.

  • Those outfits are so extravagant and beautiful! The hats are so well designed!! :D

  • This scene is worth it just to hear Jeremy Brett getting the giggles . . .

  • @HugMonster341

It's even cuter in "The Musgrave Ritual" where he plays Sherlock Holmes. Oh my, what contagious laughter!

  • @HugMonster341 Ditto!! I rewound it soo many times just to listen to that giggle! :D

  • @HugMonster341 i know!!!!!! oh....he's so cute!!! where have all the men gone????

  • @khomster I have genuinely no idea but if you find out please inform me straight away . . .

  • What a mockery of the aristocrats.. I love it!

  • the beauty of the scene, at least the beginning of it, is that the choreography is perfectly well done that none of the characters ever touch each other while they´re moving or posing. even when the two elderly ladies turn and look at each other to find they´re wearing the exact same outfit and hat, they never touch or brush up against each other.

a great moment is eliza´s story about her relatives. love the story and the end of it, henry´s mother just says "not at all, my dear".

  • haha i love in the end of the movie when Henry's mother tells Henry to only speak to Eliza about the weather and everybody's health.

  • Gosh she is was thin.

  • Epic outfits!

  • This is my favourite scene in the whole movie. I especially love the hats and the way Professor Higgins stands out in all the black and white. And Audrey looks stunning as ever. There will never been another Audrey

  • I love those hats...

    Jeremy was so cute *.*

  • This is my favorite scene in the movie. It's extremely humorous, well choreographed, and contains some excellent examples of brilliant costume designing! Just look at those hats...

  • Hi All! PLEASE do not waste your time replying to Juan Macready. He is all over YouTube, spewing vile and vicious comments about:

    Dick Van Dyke

    Sally Ann Howes

    "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"

    "Mary Poppins"

    "My Fair Lady"

There is absolutely NO point in arguing with him. He is a pathetic loser who loves to rain on everyone's parade. He will NOT give up. His statements are all LIES and UNTRUTHS. If you were all smart, you would simply mark everyone of his comments as SPAM. He's not worth your time.

  • I heard this scene on the radio coming into work this morning and I've chuckled all day. Had to see the actual film. How the hell they keep straight faces beats me. "My father, he kept ladling gin down her throat..."

  • These actors must have some serious self-control to pull this off so beautifully.

  • "Come on dova move your blooming arse!" lol so funny

  • Eliza's hilarious! I have a friend who reminds me of her. She's really pretty and has an admirer that's too old for her who calls her 'princess' - and she does indeed make me think of a princess with hair long enough to climb - but she swears a lot and makes jokes then nudges you and cackles!

  • love this scene! the costumes are fabulous! thanks for the post.

  • haha I remember watching this when I was small and rewatching and rewinding that part at the horse race XD I LOVED their outfits (still do, omg their hats!!) and their skill at staying still and just wow I love this move -3 why dun they have it on DVD? haha

  • "Every duke and earl and peer is here"

    is that what they sing?

    lyrics, anyone?

  • @andeaver1937 Every duke and earl peer is here, everyone who should be here is here, what a smashing positively dashing spectacle, the ascot opening day; At the gate are all the horses waiting for the cue to fly away, what a gripping absolutely ripping moment at the ascot opening day!

  • @adri1430 - thank you so much!

Splendid, splendid, splendid! LOL. I was even able to smile for a couple of seconds... Lovely movie! A classic! ("Done her in?!!! Whatever does it mean?" LOL LOL LOL)

  • This is one of my favourite musicals and this scene is brilliant! The choreography if you call it that is amazing and its just absolutely fabulous! Rex Harrison is wonderful and so is Audrey Hepburn. It makes me happy when I watch this, I have it on video, need the DVD.

  • What time is this movie set in?

  • *love* the outfits... Ahhh, a movie from the days when actors depended upon their actual acting abilities and not CGI...

  • Madonna's performance of her hit Justify My Love during her 1993 Tour The Girlie Show was highly inspired by this scene. Look up the performance is really good.

  • What beautiful and strange outfits! Kudos to the wardrobe designer.

This scene always makes me laugh. Mostly because of the "sniggering". <333

  • un lujo de representación- FELICIDADES

  • What is with these idiots who think simply because someone has died they can recruit them to the gay ranks?! Brett was NOT a homosexual. He was married twice and his career slid toward the end due to ill health and substantial grief over his 2nd wife (Joan Wilson)'s death. Get your facts straight.

My sources? His son. Yeah, he had one those.

  • @blackiemittens Jeremy Brett was a homosexual actually and he lived with Gary Bond for many years.

  • @JuanMacready Wasn't he bisexual?

  • @UselessRambling I think both his short marriages were just out of convenience. Anna Massey left him because of his homosexuality and Joan Wilson said she just wanted a father-figure for her children by a pervious marriage.

  • @JuanMacready Even so, why do you find it necessary to repeat to everyone that he was supposedly homosexual? I'm not trying to fight with you, you understand, but I just want to know why it's so important to you that everyone knows.

  • @JuanMacready Ahaha, I'm sure. xD

  • @blackiemittens You can be gay and have children... Gays have the same body parts and functionality as a non-gay... And it's not shameful if one is gay... What matters is how good a person you are deep down inside...

  • @blackiemittens isn't it ridiculous?!?! JuanMacready clearly has no life as i have seen many of his or her disgustingly negative comments on other videos. trolling is so immature! plus it ruins the video for those of us who love it.

  • Indeed my favourite scene in the movie too and especially the part where she says, "Come on Dova, Come on Dova, move yer bloomin arse." My God! De propa peple are fainted. I love the part when the race was ended and they sang "What a FRENZIC moment that was...." That's so ironic! DWL.

  • @adri1430 Merci, merci, merci !! !! !! !!

MarieK

  • Lovely video, one of my favorites... thanks for sharing

    Gracias Adri por enviar

  • Sublime "black and white dressing" scene!!!

    Absolutely beautiful...

Thank you for sharing dear friend!

  • she's my all time fashion icon!!!

  • Seeing this on stage at the Newport PAC was fantastic!

  • Hahaha!! This scene is too funny. Who can forget COME ON DOVER MOVE YOUR BLOOMIN ARSE!!!

And those who are going on about the upper class people being pretentious snobs: It's not pretentious, they have formal etiquette. Maybe the Ascots are is stiff and there's snobbery, but it's an upper crust event. Don't use modern standards to a play written in 1912!

  • I love Freddy he is really cute <333

  • He was a homosexual.

  • @UnbreakableWestlife No he wasn't and what has it got to do with the fact that he was cute anyway

  • Fabulous costumes. One of my fav musicals....

  • These costumes are exquisite!

  • Gracious me, how many of those faces have never seen the touch of sunlight? Also, this movie has so many lines that simply must be used in everyday life most particularly "Henry, what a disagreeable surprise...go home at once."

  • Higgins was an autistic homosexual.

  • @JuanMacready Oh, absolutely. "A confirmed old bachelor and likely to remain so."

  • "Come on, come on Dover. Come on, come on Dover...

COME ON DOVER! MOVE YOUR BLOOMIN ARSE!"

  • @Troublemaker1991 My first introduction to Brit speak. I've been absorbed ever since.

  • it would be loverly
