  • that don't even sound special....kinda sounds like demon possession.....JK...LOL....that is one of my dads' favorites...

  • so cool.......

  • an amazing album amazing part of my life.or so it seems perhaps amazingly maybe

  • i was born in the wrong generation

  • @toughserb145 yeah... sorry, but you missed it.... but now I am old -- like, so what ! LOL

  • @Aldebaron9 Dude, you were so lucky to experince quality music at my teenage age, when you are old, you are closer to heaven, so you are lucky.

  • @toughserb145 thanks, man... i was 16 in '68, a little too young to experience the things i did back then....

  • if u guys wanna dislike something...go dislike songs by "glee" n justin beiber...n all that hip hop shit...y do u wanna dislike such an awesome song? -.-

  • Great bass line - not sure if this is Lee Dorman or Jerry Penrod ( I understood he was their bass player for a bit also) but it's a great line. Unconscious Power also has another fantastic line. Lee Dorman went on to play with the stunning group, Captain Beyond, another favorite band of mine

  • @doogal1234 its jerry penrod on this one. he is my uncle

  • Possession - Iron Butterfly [San Diego, California] - 1968 - "Despite being a debut album with no hit single to provide an entry point for the casual listener, Heavy was a commercial success, reaching #78 on the Billboard Charts and eventually going Gold in the US." - Heavy (Mips) [Import] (Victor Intertainment, Inc Japan)-2006.

  • Iron Butterfly was the first band to open most people's minds to

both psychedelic and metal because of the In-A-Gadda-Single. It

did not take long to make the jump to the 17 minute and 47 second

longer version. Of course everything else the band recorded on that

    vinyl was great, too.

  • @spoildn8410 In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida = one of the best albums of all time. Also one of the best songs

  • Eric didnt play on this .. but guitarist who quit gave hisMosrite to Eric to ensure continuity. I had the same Mosrite guitar (Ventures model and Mosrite fuzz box) in the 60's and enjoyed getting that awesome sound in some high school gigs.

  • @gwlong Danny Weis played on this. He lives in Montreal now-still plays too.

  • Braun's super icy " Franken-style lead has some elements of two of my favorite guitarists -Clapton's "woman tone" & Robby Krieger's beautiful ragged distortion..Guess that energy is all part of the continuum.... ;-)

  • One of the most chilling opening pieces ever

  • Ho conosciuto gli Iron Butterfly con questo pezzo in un juke box, e da allora il loro suono ha influenzato la mia musica e la mia vita!

I met Iron Butterfly with this piece in a juke box, and since then their sound has influenced my music and my life!

  • Anyone else noticed the fantastic bass line?

  • @tiguilherman

Absolutely fantatstic bassline, he (Ron Bushy?) sounds like very Motown - this was very much mind-blowing in 1967, the whole psychedelic rock hippy thing -- it was like "what just happened? How did the world change all of a sudden? Not that I don't like it, but - how to get hip to it? Oh - hey, thanks for the dope, sis!" But yes, an old favorite bassline -- wonderful

  • Did you know the platinum certification of an album was invented by Ahmet Etrigan (same guy who discovered Ray Charles) because the Inna Gada Da Vida album sold 20 times gold?

  • No guitar was Danny Weiss i think-still plays in Toronto.

  • Possession ..... Church and rock in roll all in one ...... so great a song .... That organ is mindblowing ..... Erick Braun's guitar is wa wa wanton .... Heavy one of the classic Rock LPs of all time .....

  • @jaddison1112 I dont think Eric Braun played on this record

  • @Shootmedia You are correct Erik Brann did not play on this album....

  • @jaddison1112 No,Braun did not join until after "Heavy"..this was a different lineup.

  • One of my favorites too!!! I could imagine that these guys probably started some shows with this song!!!

  • one of my faves

  • i love iron butterfly... woop woop! mmfwcl!!
