my impression and view of elvis presley have been completely changed by this insightful commentary --
I chuckled when I thought of brash young elvis and his ignorant piss-poor grammar -- I agree with this commentator, yes, there really will always be an elvis -- double negatives notwithstanding -- except after his heyday, or, or what?, -- do I have to know this stuff for the test?

Elvis was just a good ol southern boy-his grammar wasnt really bad, but he talked with rural southern expressions.He wasnt all that oerweight for a 42 year old, but everybody held him to this Adonis standard of when he was younger. It is a shame she had to bring up the prescription drug issue. He wasnt anymore reclusive than others with that much fame. I thought the piece was a bit judgemental and shortsighted.

Hehe, I really don't think he was being brash or cocky when he replied "I don't sound like nobody". I believe he really couldn't think of anyone he sounded like - or more probably didn't think he was good enough to be compared to anyone well known at the time.
Be that as it may - this is now one of the most famous quotes in music histroy, and even now - over 50 years after making that statement, there really has never been anyone that sounds like Elvis (despite the thousands that have tried).

I hope this notebook of hers is a 100 page spiral and were on page 99. Can we put her back on the mornings PLEASE??? I'm sure there's a 4am shift somewhere for her. She is horrible. But then again, last I read, she doesn't write her own notebook, she just reads what they write for her - such a journalist. oy vey, broadcast journalism what have they done to you?

I guess it is news because Elvis' popularity is so phenomenal even 30 years later. It was a short piece. I agree Katie was a bietter fit on the Today show, but she is the first female anchor, is that right?
