  • Katie is liberal mouth piece. Worthless!

  • I have a copy of that concert in 1977,i brought it at the the Elvis Presley remembering Elvis they have every year at Parkes, its not a real good copy but u can see him stumbling on stage and he wasnt a well man,it was the last time he sang in public, but u know that great man still reached the high note and still had his sense of humour,an amazing man,,

  • Elvis didn’t sound like "nobody". And it was Elvis’s “sound”...his unique style and artistry that mesmerized the world..and started a revolution. Evidence? Watch Big Joe Turner and Bill Haley sing Shake Rattle&Roll. NOTE..NEITHER OF THEM WROTE THE SONG... SEE and HEAR THEIR ARTISTRY... THEIR STYLE "painted" on the song---THE SONG IS A CANVAS. Watch, listen closely! Now hear E’s artistry & style. THAT is the style that knocked the world on it’s ear. That is what the world went crazy for.

  • @waianapagirl I couldn't agree more.

    Rock and roll,rockabilly,blues,gospel,ballads,soul,easy listening,country.

    1 KING.

  • Neither Big Joe’s nor Bill Haley’s were going to knock the world on it’s ear. Big J’s style...BLUESY rocknroll. Bill H’s style...POP rocknroll (The genre influences inside of them produced their unique sound, style, artistry). Elvis’s STYLE was THE..Rocknroll that set the world on fire. Elvis’s unique stew of genres inside him literally exploding out..No one else had his sound. NO ONE. His unique STYLE WAS THE ROCKNROLL STYLE the world went crazy for. Not Big Joe’s not Bill Haley’s.

  • Stick your note book Katie !!

YOU don't know a damn thing about Elvis Presley if this is all you there there is to HIM!!!!

    What a crock!

  • @phyllisfiredwards1

There isn't enything you can tell me about Elvis Presley that hasn't been written and as far as marty Lacker OK .. whatever!

  • @phyllisfiredwards1 You obviously have personal problems going on in your life and want to vent out your anger on here to total strangers.

  • @Seanryan2001

And you have no ideaa what the heck you are talking about why attack someone that was loved World Wide when He had passed long before your birth find out the real ELVIS and then talk to me .

    other wise GROW UP!

    And Stop Texting me!

  • @phyllisfiredwards1 What you going on about? Im not attacking Elvis and if you dont want me to reply to you then dont reply to my messages from 7 months ago. What a very strange mixed up person you are.You seem to want to start a fight with everyone.

  • @Seanryan2001 you aren't venting thou are you GET REAL DUDE!

  • Correction: I don't think Elvis died on stage, he died at Graceland in his bathroom.

  • CBS shot a concert of Elvis just before he died live on stage in 1977 but graceland wont release it because he looks so bad in it, stumbling around the stage over weight and mumbling to the crowd in a disoriented drugged out state, sad.

  • @opencurtin

I have it on my Channel why don't you check it out and see how "bad" he looked or sang!! It was 6 weeks before his death!! Wonder how You will look 6 weeks before your own!

  • @phyllisfiredwards1 I've seen it and every time I see it he looks worse , if it's so great why do gracelands refuse to release it as a dvd to buy Because it ruins the image they want to sell of Elvis they want every one to believe he was some kind of omni potent being but instead he was just human like the rest of us , they should release it and show thw world the real Elvis as he was at the end and to how I will look 6 weeks before I die thats a hypothetical questions that no one cares about.

  • man, Couric is an ugly woman

  • I dont know about you. But He was only human.

  • @jpmortician Ofcourse he was a human but... A WONDERFUL HUMAN BEING...

  • How do you know it was FACT, HOW DOES ANYONE KNOW? APART FROM THE DOCTOR WHO DID THE AUTOPSY so no one else knows the HONEST truth, just speculation.

  • THE KING

  • @Marlon1363

    THE KING 4 EVER!!

  • In the last few years of his life, Elvis was being given 25 narcotic pills a day like Dilaudid & Demerol by Dr. Nichopoulos, and Elvis became a MEDICAL addict. Dr Nick said himself Elvis was NOT giving these to himself, but being administered them. There were also enablers around Elvis. Dr. Nick was brought up on charges for over prescribing to 14 people including Elvis & Jerry Lee Lewis, but was let off on all of them until he was caught doing it again in 95, and lost his license.

  • No, Elvis did NOT have bone cancer or any type cancer. As mentioned, they did NOT find that on autopsy, and Elvis was never diagnosed or treated. The most likely story of how that started is Dr. Nick himself started it to cover his own tail for over prescribing the heavy pain meds. Dr. Nick told Charlie Hodge, Kathy Westmoreland, & I think Larry Geller. Kathy may still believe this, and maybe Charlie did, possibly because Dr Nick had Elvis thinking "maybe" that was the source of his pain.

  • Does anybody really think EPE would let the world think Elvis was a drug addict if there was something like bone cancer to explain everything? Also, does anybody think Elvis would be doing hundreds of concerts that last year if he was in "advanced stage?" Joe Esposito never said that. He said they found a few abnormal cells, like they would find in anyone, but it was not cancer. Look at my channel to see my info on a video about Dr. Nick that was removed from you tube.

  • The true story is that Elvis wanted to see how Loyal Charlie was and told him that he had bone cancer and not to tell anyone but Charlie did tell.Elvis never had bone cancer.

  • @Seanryan2001

And I guess YOU know that Because Charlie TOLD YOU?????

    Get a life!

  • @phyllisfiredwards1 No Charlie never told me. This info came from Marty Lacker, and others who were around Elvis have also confirmed this to be true, if you did some research you would know this.

  • Ketren2 Not only mean, but inaccurate not to mention said in a vile way. Elvis's bowel problem may have been made worse by the downer drugs, but was basically an inherited condition that everybody on one side of his family had including Lisa Marie.Plus they don't know exactly what killed Elvis so don't state that as a fact! I don't think Elvis was a saint by any means, but he wasn't a monster either. I could say nasty things about MJ, but why would go there and do that to the man?

  • Also, yes Elvis did take the uppers like dexidrine since he was first given them BY the army to stay wake in the field, and later for performing, but his best work was without them like the 50s & the 68 special, and yes he always had insomnia, and like MJ, he was had to be given more and more to knock him out.

  • Katie...are you sure George Bush did not have Elvis killed ? You need to go away and than I may look at the news again. No one cares what you think...you are never correct.

  • Elvis was and is the king. I love him!

The doctors who prescribed to him knowing it may kill him are the ones who should answer for his death!

  • what a lot of people don't realize is that during the 60's and through the 70's it was commonplace for most people to take sleeping pills and valium and all sorts of "remedies" My parents did and talked candidly to all their friends about what sort of medication they were on. The rolling stones recorded the song Mothers little Helper about this phenominen. It just got out of control because like Micheal Jackson, Elvis became a person nobody would say no to

  • Elvis never injected surgical grade drugs like MJ did,or begged his friends or family,"I have to have this drug".

  • True, I don't believe that Jackson was doing the drugs recreationally, I think both Elvis and MJ believed they were taking medication to make them feel better. Dr, Nick was more concerned with remaining Elvis doctor, than actually caring for his health and run the risk of Elvis looking for another doctor to give him what he wanted. It looks like that may be the case with MJ

  • How do you know he didn't?

  • was hat sie gesagt ?

  • yes alacarcuss

and THE BEATLES said: before ELVIS, there was NOTHING

    (john lennon)

  • Moron. He never used coke in his life - unless you mean Coca-Cola - but then he prefered Gatorade. Or any other illeagal substances for that matter. Hell, he didn't even drink alcohol or smoke (apart from cigars occasionally).

Towads the end of his life he became dependant on perscription drugs, mainly due to the many ailments he suffered from - including (as someone mentioned) bone cancer, glaucoma and a twisted colon.

They made him appear strung out and contributed to his early death.

  • From what I understand, there was never any proof that Elvis had bone cancer, or any other type of cancer. I read that Baptist Hospital tested his marrow, and the results were negative. There are several theories as to why the story may have been circulated though.

  • No, that's true - it is unconfirmed.

However, Joe Esposito, Charlie Hodge and others in his inner circle have stated he had bone cancer in interviews. That's where it comes from. I don't think anyone really knows for sure though.

  • no cancer-

    what a ufo theory

  • I am sorry I didn't know he had cancer. I thought he had a heart attack, thanks for

    tell me.

  • Yeah and is the first thing the media likes to do is make it as bad as it can be, its either drugs or alcohol, the worst always makes the best stories, really sad, Elvis had a heart attack, plain and simple, they didn't live with him.

  • Curic sucks big time.

  • what the hell does pfft meean?

  • Kinda reminds me of a quote Wolfman Jack made shortly after Elvis' death ....

"...10,000 years from now, when the rest of us are nothin' but dust and long forgotten - people will still be talkin' 'bout Elvis Presley as the greatest there ever was!..."

  • @AlaCarcuss hellllllll yessss hes the best there ever was

  • why are you saying he was a recluse you bimbo? He wasnt he was getting ready for a tour. jeeze louise get your facts straight couric.

  • she didnt say it she is repeating what people said at the time. listen to it again youll see hell in fact she was honoring elvis

  • whats that about reclusive, have you got any idea how hard elvis worked in 77.

  • you are so right. people talk so much shit. reclusive, how was he reclusive? he lived at graceland, of course thats where you spend most of your time, at your home. he would go on tours around the country. he took a vacation to hawaii in 77. people just jump on the bandwagon and a press story.

  • fuck you katie.its always "the drugs the drugs" goddamnit most people dont know elvis had advanced stages of bone cancer, glaucoma, twisted colon, hypertension, enlarged heart on one side.Elvis "needed the drugs" and he still performes through all that sickness.he is the king.Fuck anyone who says differently.

  • a-men glad someone put it out there how it is. he didnt want anyone to know about the cancer because he didnt want anyone to feel sorry for him thats why he kept busting his ass off till the end. elvis is and always will be the king

  • I'm not your sister i'm your brother! He didn't throw his talent away because his voice was even more rich and beautiful in the last days! I don't care what he did! All I care about is what he did for me and for others! If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be here today because his music lead me to God! Elvis was a very spiritual person who had his faults! That's all that matters to me! I choose to remember those good things and not his faults unlike other people!

  • Dude I know all about his problems! I'm talking about he was planning to get better after his tours in 77 ended! He planned to go to Hawaii in 78 and get on a diet and get off the drugs! I never said he was on the road to recovery! Again I don't care what his problems were only God can judge him for what he's done so would people just for ONCE leave him alone especially when he can't even defend himself!

  • Yeah well it is only God's authority to judge not anybody elses. We all have our faults. I don't know about those others. Elvis though was planning to get better at the end of the year. He wasn't intentionally destroying himself. It ain't right to judge somebody you don't know and thats all I'm going to say on the matter!

  • You never walked a mile in their shoes!

  • It is a free country. I am sometimes not certain which term to use, although I have never used Negro, just Black or African American. I guess I would prefer to use the term that the people from that culture prefer. I am not totally certain what that is.

is. It is faster and easier to say Black for me.

  • I thnk maybe many consider that the politically correct and most dignified term. But you have a point, though these persons of color would be living in America.

  • I dont know what that means. Am I ignorant regarding shorthand?

  • so why calling them white people. They are african!..

  • IT WAS A SHAME WHEN ELVIS PAST AWAY in August1977,THE MAN WAS TALENTED ,Good Job Katie!!on your Elvis story, there are good singers who are trying to make a future mark in history like Elvis did! his the KING!!, and on YOU Tube Search, I came across a Vocalist called MARC JONES, This Guy has a Great! Singing Voice!,and sings Pop/Jazz Stardands,Check him out!,CBS,AND other people out there!

  • I love elvis 4ever! I wish the other people in my, no EVERYONES high school loved elvis. Love live teh king of rock and roll

  • Yea - theres one intelligent newscaster on TV. She doesn't need a panel to fill the time. She has class.

  • what do these letters beginning with P mean that so many people wrote?

  • Pfft

  • my impression and view of elvis presley have been completely changed by this insightful commentary --

I chuckled when I thought of brash young elvis and his ignorant piss-poor grammar -- I agree with this commentator, yes, there really will always be an elvis -- double negatives notwithstanding -- except after his heyday, or, or what?, -- do I have to know this stuff for the test?

  • Elvis was just a good ol southern boy-his grammar wasnt really bad, but he talked with rural southern expressions. He wasnt all that oerweight for a 42 year old, but everybody held him to this Adonis standard of when he was younger. It is a shame she had to bring up the prescription drug issue. He wasnt anymore reclusive than others with that much fame. I thought the piece was a bit judgemental and shortsighted.

  • i totally agree.

  • Hehe, I really don't think he was being brash or cocky when he replied "I don't sound like nobody". I believe he really couldn't think of anyone he sounded like - or more probably didn't think he was good enough to be compared to anyone well known at the time.

Be that as it may - this is now one of the most famous quotes in music histroy, and even now - over 50 years after making that statement, there really has never been anyone that sounds like Elvis (despite the thousands that have tried).

  • a good comment and most important of all: it's so true

who could have guessed back then, that he would be the greatest ever ever ever

  • I hope this notebook of hers is a 100 page spiral and were on page 99. Can we put her back on the mornings PLEASE??? I'm sure there's a 4am shift somewhere for her. She is horrible. But then again, last I read, she doesn't write her own notebook, she just reads what they write for her - such a journalist. oy vey, broadcast journalism what have they done to you?

  • Your comment about the spiral notebook is hilarious

  • very good ,Katie shows these young people who set a goal for them selves can reach it with just a little

    Love behind them

  • Good thought.Elvis came from abject poverty. Did you know you have sort of a connection with him since you have twin grandsons?

  • how?

  • Well just the twin boy connection, since he was one of a set of boy twins, though regretfully he didnt get to experience his twin brother.

  • How the hell is this news? This is why your show gets low ratings... cuz it SUCKS

  • I guess it is news because Elvis' popularity is so phenomenal even 30 years later. It was a short piece. I agree Katie was a bietter fit on the Today show, but she is the first female anchor, is that right?
