Shortly after her husband died through a landslide caused by Zero, her daughter dies as well (allegedly because of Zero, though we all know that's not true); and now the world is ruled by "Zero," hero of justice. To hear all those people cheering for Zero after he killed Lelouch, her child's love.. I can't imagine her state of mind.

Shirley. Your death was the most grossly unjustified one in the entire series. What was it supposed to mean ? What was its purpose to the series ? To prove that Lelouch lost the last opportunity to go back to its previous life with you like you wished ? To show us that indiscriminate sacrifices were necessary in order to achieve a greater world ? Or was it simply to remind us that manga creators are heartless creatures ?
@LazyLonerLayla I agree I never hated Shirley ever. Sure she didn't kick ass like Kallen or C.C, she was just a normal teenage girl with a crush. And it was that normality that made her likable. She was his only 'real' normal friend when all hell was breaking loose. And she was right, every character had something to hide; they all "wore masks" around each other. I think Lelouch realized that, and Shirley was one of the only people he could be truthful to, but by then... too late :( ROLO!!! >:(

@fullmetalpixel offcourse, Code Geass is not epic , only because of few amazing scenes. The brutal and weird scenes are also needed. That's what makes Code Geass complete anime.

The next CG is just a side story. Its timeline is set at a.t.b 2017 where Lelouch is still alive. Therefore, we won't still know if Lelouch didn't really died at the end of R2.

@chrisdafurz If you liked Code Geass, you may like Elfen Lied. :) (107 or so chapters in manga, but only 12 episodes of anime. I highly reccomend both.) Same feeling after finishing though. But I just read it again. :D (Mangareader net)

@lubieracuchy Y'know what? This anime had a shitload of of problems plotwise and some elements felt incredibly contrived, but goddamn is it moving. The way I see it, Shirley was just a completely ordinary girl who fell in love with the wrong guy and got caught up in all that mess. As a result she suffered endlessly and was eventually killed. poor girl.

Yeah, really makes you reflect on her and her actions. -_- I honestly didn't dislike her at all, I even found her appearances to be humorous! She, like Rivalz and Gino and Arthur the Cat, acted as comic relief.
She also was part of the "romance element," along with Kallen and Cecilia.

The next CG is just a side story. Its timeline is set at a.t.b 2017 where Lelouch is still alive. Therefore, we won't still know if Lelouch didn't really died at the end of R2.
