  • Hoyt st doesn't look too different nowadays... Station still isn't renovated and with MTA's budget fiscal, it probably won't be for a while. I read this article in the paper about the increase in graffiti during this recession. Gotta love it

  • I FUCKING LOVE AMERICANS!!!!

  • @oipunks69 Callin it dope is a bit of a reach. I think the entire cast, and crew were on some really good dope. In reference to your second comment, real writers know the rules and follow em! Yours truely included!

  • Check out my FACEBOOK page "I Survived the South Bronx in the '70s & '80s"!

  • ...and at about 4:57 you can see a faint out line of the letter "s" right before spit paints his name. It looks like they painted it then wiped it of, and kept doing this a few times until they got the scene right. Also thet krylon spray can just does not look right.

  • At about 2:53 you can see a "Iz the Wiz" throw up! Iz the Wiz, rest in peace.....

  • was the nyc subway really this heavily filled w/ graffiti back in the day?

  • @TheTruPoet Yes iT was Back in 70s & 80s NYC Trains spaypainted ART of Graffiti

  • whats the song at 06:12 ?

  • "What about Tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow is a long way off, Man!"

  • never seen or heard of this movie before doing a search of Da Bronx, and Tagging. Movies like this may suck to some, but as a child of NYC in the 80's NYC trust me. this is pure art. Its like they just recorded this flick on the fly and from the heart. You can tell whoever produced this, did this as a tribute to the NYC subways and culture of hip hop and NYC's 5 boroughs...Stuff like this let you know how much you miss just being a kid.....Long Live Da Bronx - Hallow Hand Inc.

  • @HallowHand Cant believe youve never seen BEAT STREET!!!!!

  • can i buy or download a longr verision?:P

  • lmao at 3:40 how the fuck u finnah hide behind those small ass poles XD

  • SPIT!!!

  • damn back in da day nobody knew how to act

  • the actin was crap..low budget

but at least the 4 elements of hiphop were shown.

style wars still my al time fav documentary/movie.

  • i loved this movie but the acting wasnt great

  • acting..sucks alot of dick..lol..

  • beat street was the worst movie

  • worst movie?comon your forgetin wil smith

  • bro the movie had like no plot it was such a random movie

  • dude this movie was pivotal for hip hop culture in Australia as were Breakdance and style wars..sure the plot was thin and acting bad BUT it showcased hip hop culture..which is what makes it awesome..Back in the day to see it as a 14 yo kid it was truly inspirational...Your only 22 and way b4 yr time, for its time it was awesome!!and to call it the worst movie would only be a exaggeration, dude this was b4 all the gangster rap shit-to help you understand

  • im not 22 im 14.sure it shows some of that shit and it made me want the subway graff scene to start up again but theres better movies.like style wars.shits the bomb

  • yeah dude-style wars iz da shit..when i was ty age to see Beat Street really left a impression on me-sure thesedays ppl poo-poo it,but like i said.

  • yeah

  • @DiseasedAfrican Yeah, that movie was horribly put together. They took out a lot of parts as well. If you watch it close, they wake up and are supposed to be on their way to school, but they end up at a party in the evening. They deleted the whole school scene and more. But with all that, it's a classic for me because nothing else out at the time represented hip hop culture like beat street. Love it to this day, as corny as it was.

  • gotta love the corny classics

  • This is my city...

  • i read the real colorfull pieces on Beat Street were done with airbrush and not really, real Grafitti artist

  • y'all bitches. So are the "fine " artists that your sick society produces. Street art comes from the heart, bless them for expressing. Fuck Off.

  • dont write any abd comment if u dont lyke dont watch!

  • graffiti aint writing on houses or on churches..its about hitting spots that are city property, businesses that got the cash 2 buff if they want..frewayspots abondaned buildings and shit..

  • Graffitti "artists" what a joke. They are criminals, period, end of story.

  • graffiti is cool you toy, NY was way better with graff all over the subway system.

  • Cool huh? Well let's have a few graffiti "artists" come over to your house and destroy your property. Then they'll move on to your car. Still think it's cool?

You're a liberal, right? So how's that "hope" and "change" working out for you? I hope I still have some change in my pocket after Nobama gets through wrecking our economy.

    Have a nice day.

  • dude, i dont even know what liberal means. i just like graffiti.

  • wait my house? what does my house have to do with it? I ts about the trains. graff should be legal on nyc subway trains.

  • man shut the fuck up you smartass fucker

  • its not about writing on house

  • Sure Obama will fuck up the economy creating the greatest depression... But what does that have to do with graffiti? Graffiti is awesome... And only toys do graffiti on houses...

  • No, graffiti is NOT awesome, it's defacement of public property. It runs down neighborhoods making them more susceptible to criminals and other lowlifes, and it's god-awful ugly. What gives these criminals the "right" to deface public property?. It's "culture" that is from, and belongs in, the sewer.

  • Well that is your opinion... There will always be graffiti, long after your body rots and lies stinking on the earth, so get used to it... People pay taxes so they have the right to paint on public property... God-awful ugly? Graffiti takes skills, if you didn't know... Graffiti is AWESOME.

  • Taxes? I'm willing to bet that that 99.9 percent of the idiots who scribble their garbage on public property don't pay taxes. Now I'm sure they RECEIVE taxes via welfare payments, but PAY TAXES!? Not a chance.

And BTW, defacing public property is a crime. Google your state penal code and look it up.

    Have a nice day.

  • Many graffiti writers are normal people... They aren't all necessary poor or anything like that, or act all ghetto... Yes I know that defacing public property that a lot of writers practically paid for is unfortunately a crime... Have a nice day.

  • yo fuck you i pay my taxes

    you dumb shit

not all writers are the same.

some break all the laws and just dont give a fuck

but some have some sense of smorals or values that they live by

you think you can just categorize one group of people and tag it on everybody

    youre a fucking dumbass

  • seriously. it's concentration on it, w the police n all that has gone to far. though people indulging in excess things that put an off image of the st is always concerning for them (politicians only). there image grows on others from the input of there peers, w very little from the public. its like why r drugs illegal. because 1 they are fun lol in moderation 2 some people can't control themselves (addicts) who ruin it for the rest of us. i'm talking about natural drugs not chemicals poison

  • Obama isn't creating no depression, this shit was set forth 8 years ago with the worst administration the world has ever seen, The White Devil, Bush was a Tyrant!

  • Yea but he is making it worse...

  • right now its about impossible to make the situation better or equal right now...

  • watever you say
