That was brilliant! It must have taken a long time to make this video, what with you having to painstakingly move the props one shot at a time. The music was brilliant, as well.
Thank you Daniel! =) Yes stop-motion is always time consuming but it is my favourite type of animation - I love the magic it can create with such simple tricks! ;)
Reminded me of Hannibal, what with the elephant and camel. Very engaging, I anticipate great things from this channel, should you continue to maintain the ever elusive drive to make collaborations =]
Thanks Jason! 'The Indian in the Cupboard' was a favourite book of mine when I was young. I had fond memories of it when we filmed the scene in this with the cowboy and native american. I should like to re-read that book again now I am older =)
Mesmerising in a good way. The cardinal fluttering in is my favourite sequence but the lone chess piece alternating colours, synchronised with dramatic tones in the music, is fairly captivating too. Never say nevermore!
It seems to me, that you have captured the basic elements of a dream. The surreal animation (i.e. order & chaos) with a heavy heart beat in the background. Encore...Encore... I can't wait to see more.
Thank you very much Aaron! As of yet neither of us are headed towards a career in the film industry but we both love film and enjoy creating pieces too. I don't think it is a hobby that will fade for us any time in the forseeable future, hehe =)
~I have no words to say. Speechless with impressions of Carroll's 'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves. Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:. All mimsy were the borogoves,. And the mome raths outgrabe.'
Yet provocatively holds hypnotic daydreams to MacLeod; clips seem bound devilishly twisted to the downbeat. Surreal tension between relics, birds & animals havin' a go at brutal peckering.
Dear heavens! What happens when the two of you get together!
Yes ... They are two bright geniuses at play. O my. One must tread softly on that femenine creative energy! ^^
Carroll ... poor chap, so creative but troubled as most creative types are. His imagery is quite scary for children. I relate to it because of his broad imagination and inventive spirit despite his own inner struggles.
I suppose the same could be said of Poe. Odd dude there too. But genius.
I love reading your comments. You have a way with words that has a clear inflection;)
My favourite thing about Jabberwocky was it was written as an example of how NOT to write a poem - a sort of protest if you will. Of course, now it is studied and commented on as a work of genius. Couldn't the poor guy catch a break?! We didn't understand him when he was being serious, and we didn't understand him when he was joking...
LOL! They're all weird, but maybe that is the key. If they were all normal, they'd slide into the obscurity of the human condition.
Deepest thanks to you ;) The 'Jabberwocky' is one of my favourite poems - it intrigues me how such nonsense words when placed and chosen carefully give the illusion of a great deal of meaning, as though I know precisely what each adjective and noun is expressing, despite the fact they are purely the invention of the poet. That is perhaps the effect this short film has, where what may be snippets of surreal nonsense (hehe) when placed together give an impression of something much more.
Stop animation is under-rated in it's time consuming process. It must have taken quite an effort! I too watched it more than once trying to associate a storyline. I have many thoughts and absolutely no conclusions.
It is a masterpiece! I am so charmed they got together for this. I favourited it immediately. I have a huge smile on my face.
Great choice of music. Delightful props and use of them, especially the birds and leggo figurines riding elephants.

When the nurseries dark, your toys get up and talk!
Talk to each other every night.
When the nurseries dark an eternal moon is shining,
Outside the land is snowy white. Delightful, I loved it!

LOL! It's not often that you see a Jabberwocky quote in a comment! (OK,it makes sense here though) Carroll was a very odd dude...
I'm a bit concerned at the ready availability of stuffed birds! Was that a cardinal? ;)
Yes I agree, we're all in trouble now...

Yeah, I'm curious to know how many photos it took - any comment from the creators?
zebidee55 4 years ago
Indeed.
It is a masterpiece! I am so charmed they got together for this. I favourited it immediately. It is the best stop motion feature I have seen in terms of it's surealistic artistry and uniquely flavoured imagery. Hypnotic and enchanting colour tones ... I cannot help but wish for more elaboration from the creators. However, in the artistic regard, perhaps the magic lies in its mystery:)

I agree, as a stop motion it is really impressive, but as a FIRST stop motion it's amazing!

I agree completely.
Oh yes ... this is one of those ... where one knows one has to favourite it right away!
