  • Those're some NICE locos.

  • they sound like toronto rockets

  • That's the Shunk pantograph?

  • @ATBtheTRANCER what? what do you mean?

  • @FanRailer The pantograph of this train firm belongs Shunk(Germany)

  • @FanRailer : Schunk Group is an international technology company from Giessen Germany in the range of carbon for Panto's a.o."in Simplontunnel/Schweiz" mit Qualität und Ausführung im Eisenbahntechnik fur die Stromabnahme vom Fahrdraht mit Kohlenstoffschleifstücken" Grtz: dAb +>

  • @ATBtheTRANCER The type of pantographs that the ALP-44 and ALP-46 and ALP-46A locomotives are equipped with are called the Brecknell Willis type pantograph.

  • The new ALP46A are dominating against the older ones

  • Hi friends!

....Siegen? This Trucks are build by Bombardier works in Kassel/ Germany, the former HENSCHEL works! You ´re interested? I have a foto from Transport the Truck 4650 of NJ Transit in Germany!

    With best wishes from Kassel

    George

  • @Grigorij1967 hmm so they're up to 4650 now... u mind posting it somewhere? and pm'ing me the link?

  • @Grigorij1967 yes

    that is german power

    nice video

    and nice tracktion

  • @Bebra93 Aber Siemens hat sich mit SZ & ÖBB Taurus mehr nach dem Süden verwendent, nicht ?/ doch deiner Kraftwerkzeuge kennzeichen sich vielleicht weiniger als German Power ... Die setzt aber neue Maßstäbe ;-) Agree with this very nice video-traction, Gruße

  • @daborgdorff süden ?

die ÖBB taurus fahrna haupteil in österreich

aber in deutschland breiten dich sich auch aus

  • @Bebra93 Danke schön - Thank you so much - Hartelijk dank - Saludos cordiales y atte (auch mit Grüße :-) dAb +>

  • @Grigorij1967 Not in Siegen... the ALP-46A has different trucks that the DB101

  • Shiny!

  • i give you five stars just for recording the acceleration it sounds more life like this is by far the best i seen

  • the difference between the alp46 and alp46A is the speed- alp46a can go 125mph

  • Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey it's two 46's and only 5 Comets. TONS of power!

  • >> Siemens had a hand in the truck design, since Bomb/SIE

No, there is no Siemens in the truck design. SIE stands for Siegen, the plant, where Bombardier manufacture the tracks.

  • @peettheengineer thanks for the info!

  • Yo man, this video kicks ass. I love how you caught the ALP-46A takeoff/propulsion!

Nice job man, thumbs up and fav'd!

  • @Caitsith810 Thanks man! I'll try and catch the loco for one stop next wednesday, and i'll see what i come up with...

  • Wow these kinda sound like M7s in a way when they accelerate. Nice!

  • @murjax mmmmm, the M7's have a rolling sound, while these are more of the phase shift type.

  • @FanRailer True.

  • WOW!! AWESOME CATCH! 5 TRILLION STARS! The ALP-46As probably have the best propulsion sounds in the world! (LOL) But on the other hand, the ALP-45DPs may be better or the same. Anyway, AWESOME!!!

  • @Train538 The ALP-45DP's are supposed to share trucks and propulsion equipment with the ALP-46A. So i'm guessing they will probably sound the same...

  • Oh really? Actually it does make plenty of sense.

  • @FanRailer thanks for your correct professional info :-) "the typical sound(s) of this newest IGBT-controlled ALP-46A traction equipment is a derivation from Pulse-Width-controlled RCT-thyristor Choppers introduced in both Belgian Locomotives and Dutch The Hague Articulated GTL8 Trams from 1970 onwards early pioneering in Power Electronics. Innovation started by ACEC / BN = Bombardier Bruges, but Siemens followed some 10 years later.!" Grtz: dAb +>

  • Awesome! That propulsion really sounds beautiful!

  • NICE!!!!!! They sound completely different from the older ALP-46 locomotives!!!!! Great Video and Nice Catch!!!!! I hope I catch one soon!!!!! :)

  • Whoa, they DO sound like R142/143/160's! Even if I had no idea this was a 46A, I would notice the sound.

  • Wow, they sound totally different! Loving that sound!

  • Great Video, this is surely some nice propulsion, but the brakes surely need some lube, looks like a very shiny ALP-46A unit, 4629 FTW, :)!

  • Great video! I have to agree on the propulsion sounds....that's a cool mix....good way to tell between the old and new units too. Talk about a fast departure indeed!

  • Sounds like a MARTA train or Wasington DC train.

  • Awesome Catch. Their proplusion acceleration almost sounded like those used on Bombardier R142, Alstom R160A, etc..

  • oh my God. That propulsion really is an orchestra. What makes these different from the normal Alp-46s?

  • @milky27oreo the original ALP-46's use GTO inverters while the new 46A's use the IGBT. u can compare by watching the vid when accelerating, the pitch changes to lower level when the original alp 46 rolls by. in addition, power has been increased slightly.

  • The brakes sound terrible , need some lube.....but that propulsion sounds sexy

  • @Nexis4Jersey yeah, it's almost orgasmic!

  • @Nexis4Jersey you kidding? those breaks are music to my ears!

  • @milky27oreo ewwww , they need lube ......most Rail Fanners hate bad brakes

  • sounds great
