  • God does have a fool proof defense. He's mysterious! Case closed.

  • haiti=voodo and animal, people sacifice nation, who didnt repent or turn away from the evil things.

  • we christians believe that when one of our brothers die, they are going to go to heaven, but in the case of the people that dont believe in God they will go to hell, so that earthquake was allowed by God because all of those people have made a choose, to continue living the sinful life or a christian life, and the people that made the right choice will go to heaven to an eternal life! just ask yourself? have you ever thought, whats the meaning of life! what do you think is next after life?

  • who are you to blame GOD????? your heart and attitude stinks

  • @swordseller1,I say near the beginning that I do not believe in any god,but in order to communicate with believers I will refer to 'your god.'I do not blame any god, since I find no evidence that any god exists.

  • @swordseller1 King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things Isaiah 45:7

All things good and evil come from god so this came from your god correct? explain this to me please.

  • Said like a devil decieving man. Even the devil believes in God.

  • Christians will go to church on Sunday and thank god it didn't happen to them. A common saying among Christians is, "There but for the grace of god go I". So in other words, god likes me more so he chose to kill those other people. Doesn't sound very moral to me.

  • Our god is a destructive god yes, that is his point, to teach us wrong. God destroyed the world once also, but with destroying the world he also gave everyone the chance to be saved. He told Noah to build an ark and tell everyone why he was to build an ark. The people had a chance to save themselves. And they turned their back to him. Therefore the world ended. Because humans thought they could overcome the god of everything. And they learned... Maybe there were warnings in Hati... God = Love

  • @ShakinYurBacon

that is pure bullshit..god is supposedly perfect, all powerful, and all loving..why not create a perfect world from the start, with perfect creations, and a perfect environment?..it makes no sense whatsoever not to do so..

  • @itzahazylife There is a perfect world waiting for us all. It is called the afterlife.

  • @k0smon

that belief has absolutely no evidence..there is no evidence whatsoever that somehow our personalities live on after our brains die..your belief is based on your fear and non-acceptance of the finality of death..u hope for something better than this reality. u want something better. u need something better. but, this is probably it..u should work on embracing the beauty and preciousness of this life, because as far as we know, it's the only one you'll get.

  • @itzahazylife Have you been living in a cave? There is plenty of evidence for the continuation of life after death. NDEs, contacts by psychics, ghosts, are all evidence. I have attended materialization seances and talked to many who live in the spirit world. Psychical research societies have existed for years. Keep your eyes tightly shut so you won't have to see what you don't want to see!

  • @k0smon

YOU see what YOU wanna see..anyone with a rational head on their shoulders would suspect that NDE's are more than likely profound experiences occurring within ones own mind, much like that of one who is under anesthesia or a drug..couple the power of the human mind, with the profoundness of facing death, and u can practically EXPECT such an experience to occur in ones own mind. (cont)

  • @k0smon

point is, u present at the very most, VAGUE evidence for your belief in the afterlife..and best of all, u make the ridiculous claim that this afterlife will be perfect and great..isn't that one hell of a leap of speculative superstition..how the hell do u know what the afterlife will be like?..because there are ghost sightings psychics, and NDE's that are VERY likely generated via the human brain?..gimme a break.

  • @itzahazylife There is none so blind as he who will not see. You don't need a break, you are already broke(n). You know what the afterlife is like by talking to those that live there. NDEs have been studied by medical experts who find them genuine.

  • @k0smon

it really comes down to rationality..what's more rational?..there exists a special realm these people somehow travel to via a magical spirit that somehow keeps their personality traits without a brain, or that the human brain is powerfully imaginative, and since it is so imaginative, when u couple it with the profound emotion of near death, it produces wild, vivid experiences within the mind?

  • @itzahazylife Medical experts have studied NDEs. and find that they cannot be accounted for by hallucination or drug response. Especially , those who have OBEs with the NDE and can report accurately on incidents that happened during the episode, are impossible to explain by your explanation.

  • @k0smon

the phenomenon is the fact that human consciousness is aware even when there is no measurable brain activity..using the scientific method..(the most elite investigatory form of finding objective truth)..one should then suspect that there is more to the brain (and the consciousness that it most likely generates) that we do not know about, instead of taking the leap and suspecting that there's some immaterial spirit inhabiting our bodies, that somehow floats away into some other realm..

  • @k0smon

psychics?..a GREAT majority of psychics are con-artists whom are experts at reading minds, and evaluation of body language, etc..any partly legitimate psychics are just evidence that the human mind may possess extra senses, or that there is more to THIS reality than we have yet discovered..it's only evidence of an afterlife to u, because u have a preconceived belief in the afterlife. (cont)

  • @itzahazylife And you have a preconceived non-belief in the afterlife.

  • @k0smon

whoever said i don't believe in the afterlife?..belief is an implication of certainty..i merely doubt the existence of an afterlife due to a lack of solid evidence.

  • What I love about your videos and responses is the cool calm way in which you make your point, devoid of ranting and gesturing.

Thanks to dprjones you have a huge fan in me...... thank you for being you.

  • love the video...can't agree with you when you tell people not to post any comments in defense of their god though...your opinion(which i happen to largely agree with) is not allowed to prevent others from expressing theirs.

  • It alarms and disturbs me that someone who was once immersed in the clergy and later came out of it knowing it all for the trickery, falsehoods and fraud it all was can be so easy dismissed by believers. This is a man who has seen the absolute depths of Christian religion - he knows its god, knows its bible, and knows it better than the average believer. You'd think such a view would prove to have value to them.

  • i would like to have a discussion about this with you. its hard to have a good talk over a thread. you exclude many things without much explanation and come to conclusions as if you have already heard all of the possible explanations. does youtube have a chat thing? and you dont want people to comment?

  • @futbol4jc, I no longer screen comments here, and I do not screen comments to any of my videos. In some cases I delete comments. I explain this on my profile page. My videos have had thousands of comments, of all kinds. You and I could discuss audibly on Skype. But first it would be good for you to watch a bunch of my other religious videos.

  • @futbol4jc

he didn't miss a damn thing..it's simple reasoning..u claim that there is an all loving, all knowing, perfect entity, yet, this reality is the best he can come up with? African Siafu ants that eat toddlers alive in their huts, intestinal parasites, crippling athritis, volcanoes which produce pyroclastic clouds that roar down the mountainside incinerating anything in its path, extreme deformities at birth..like i said before, only faith can distort ones rationality to such a degree.

  • @itzahazylife it is very simple reasoning, and is caused by looking at things in a simple way. what you need to understand is that there was a world created perfect and it was declared "very good" by the perfect God who created it. and it fell into chaos with the sin of Adam. and so the world you see today is the result of sin. so the world you see now is a far cry from what was originally created.

  • @futbol4jc

that makes no sense whatsoever..if the world was perfect from the start, adam would have never sinned..his creations would have been perfect. the environment would have been perfect...everything would have been perfect. and nothing would have been able to change that perfection..u have to realize the meaning of the word perfect and all powerful..how could something go so wrong with a perfect creation?..either god doesn't exist, or god is imperfect.

  • @itzahazylife now to go into the purpose of this description would be a longer post. but say you think that the God of the bible should be able to correct the evils of this world. let me tell you would not want that to happen. you see our greatest problem is that God is loving, and his loving is completely uncommon and completely holy. and well we are the complete opposite.sinful and God hating and selfish and if god were to rid the world of evil he would probably start with use.

  • @itzahazylife and so this just God in his forbearance so crushed our sin bearer, jesus christ, with his holy wrath so that we might be given grace. and there is a grace that leads to salvation and then there is a common grace that restrains God from judging this sinful world so that me might find rest and salvation is christ

  • @ppwstevie95 That you refuse to believe their religion may be just as valid as yours is both egotistical and insulting, and is nothing short of blatant ignorance. I suppose you fully agree that years of slaughter were also necessary for the Native Americans to be brought 'God'? Or for the 'heathens' in the eastern areas to see the error of their sinful ways? Blind zealotry and open faith are separate concepts.

  • @FoxSquaredComplex you should subscribe to erichathy222 for earthquake predictions and prophecy

  • @ciaaurara Considering I'm not a Christian and frankly see the bible as the most misunderstood, self-contradicting, violent, and oppressive book I've had the misfortune of reading, I won't need to know what it says about God breaking his promise not to end the world. XD;; Thanks for the suggestion, though.

  • "It is not flesh and blood but the heart which makes us fathers and sons." "Live with your century but do not be its creature." Wake up and open your eyes for God is within us all and is not the product of one mans word or one mans religion for we are all of the same church and of the same race.. The human race.......

  • @122120121111am, your comment does not address the very serious things that I say in this video.

  • By the way, I read some group of believers sent hundreds of "solar powered bibles" (whatever that means) to Haiti as their only offering of aid. The Haitians need solar powered bibles like ducks need buttermilk. A totally useless, self serving and insulting donation.

  • @HappyApostate maybe they can burn them for heat so it might help a little... but I agree send food

  • Good points. This earthquake was a heart-wrenching tragedy for those poor people in Haiti. Yet when something terrible happens, xtians always have some excuse handy for their god. But strangely enough, the xtian god is totally blameless for tragedies. He is always to be thanked and worshiped for any random good that occurs.

  • well as i said before you can't make someone who thinks they know all a believer, if god wasn't there then how come when i prayed for healing i was healed? no doctors or medication at all i was simply relieved of my sickness and no docotor could do that you explain it and why so many others have the same thing happen when they pray maybe you should try it and you wouldn't be such a sour puss

  • No, i'm right.

  • Ppw, so in order to get you Christians to teach Haitians the word of God, your God killed and maimed hundreds of thousands of them including thousands of innocent little children? Couldn't your all-powerful God find some less violent, less cruel way of getting his point across?

  • I'm afraid not.

God know's what he is doing.

He has a plan for Haiti.

They need to hear the goslep of Jesus Christ. They need to find God.

Pat Robertson made a great point.

And on top of that we are in the end time's.

I truly hope the Haitians who died believed and trusted in God.

I hope they are with Him now.

  • @edwardtarte

    Great answer, Ed!

  • As a former christian who did hold the word of god (prior to discovering I held stronger beliefs in my Native American heritage and the ways of Buddhism), I think you may be taking this argument a bit too far. The Haitian disaster was a natural occurrence, caused by plate tectonics, and was not the work of the Christian lord. In implying they brought it upon themselves, you are insulting not only the entirety of the Haitian population, but also their dead loved ones and right to religion.

  • @ppwstevie95

your comment is a perfect example of how scripture and pure faith utterly distorts ones ability to perform simple reasoning..this infinitely benevolent, all powerful, all knowing god, slaughters thousands of people and children, and u dig deep down for a reason to justify it? for a reason to twist it around like it was for some good in the end?..open your damn eyes..nature is unconcious, random, and unforgiving. an all loving god doesn't exist..all it takes is simple observation

  • @ppwstevie95 ;;; Carlton Pearson faced this same type of situation when it was revealed to him that all are saved, and that belief is not necessary. He calls it the gospel of inclusion. He is now a 'new thought' preacher.

  • @k0smon

and ghosts?..ghosts may be evidence of higher spacial dimensions, or they could just be hallucinations..they could also be a phenomenon of the brain. research the "god helmet"..a neuroscientist created a device that actually targeted specific portions of the brain and triggered out of body experiences, and even caused some subjects to feel a presence in the room, or see figures..many believe he tapped into the portion of the brain that induces "spiritual" experiences. (cont)

  • @ppwstevie95 Yep. Bring them the truth by killing and maiming them. The typical Christian way. And I do believe Christianity is widespread there already, so your argument is false.

  • i hope you accept God. chrisitianity isnt just a religion. frankly disregard it as a religion! its a relationship with you and God. i frankly think you shouldnt encourage people to fall away from God.. who are you to do that? deal with yourself. we as humans do not know why God does what he does. its not our buisness to try and find out why he let people live and why he allows miracles. we just thank him for life. every day. do u not believe in miracles? either way. please dont discourage others

  • Fureal, I will send you a video from my favorites section which will help to explain why I make these videos.

  • Why does God always "reveal himself"

    by killing lots of people?

Why don't we ever hear of

"amputees healed across the eastern seaboard"

    or "Starving millions in Ethiopia

gorge on manna falling from heaven!"?

    Probably because disasters happen naturally,

while healings and manna require a genuine god.

  • I totally agree but to be fair there are two camps in the christian world. 1. God Caused the Earth Quake 2. God let the Earthquake Happen (because he can't "interfere) Yes BS I know.

I just wanted say that some Christians are a tad more crazy than others. (1.) I am an atheist but I Just wanted to throw that in.

Very interesting vid. You are definitely blunt but I like no nonsense people. I do think religion is a problem. No, I dont think atheism will fix everything. But it helps:)

  • I dont understand why you even post these videos. You are just trying to create conflict... You know that this will only piss christians off, not make them side with you... There is no winning arguement to religion. Let christians beleive what they want... and fuck off... :)

  • Deraj44, Indeed, you do not understand why Edward posted this video. It occurs to me that he, rightly, inquires in order to form a notion of rational reality. He is not satisfied with the inadequate, solipsistic, hypocritical and intellectually lazy attitude of many faithful in the face of human suffering. Nor am I! Your hysterical advice to fuck off will not stop the those who inquire anymore. And sure, that will piss christians off. As it did Zeus, Wotan and Frya worshippers. Get used to it.

  • @MajorObvious

But since we are not omniscient ourselves, how are we to determine what greater good there is? There is a reason for adversity to exist. When God made light, He didn't destroy darkness, He merely "separated" the two, and called the final situation: "good."

  • Major, yes, thank you. That is basically the logic that I use in this video. But many viewers just don't get it.

  • The thing that you have to understand is that God said in the End of days he will unleash his Wrath and Judgement on the Earth for the increasing of peoples sinful lives. So we can see the prophesies of the bible coming true where he mentioned in Matthew 24 that earthquakes will increase. God bless you and may you find love in your heart.

  • Hard, there is no credible evidence that your God, or any god, even exists.

  • Zealots can't do that because of the simple nature of faith.

    Faith is:

Believing something you know is not true.

    5* subscribed

  • Vibrant, no, faith is not 'believing something you know is not true.' Faith is believing something and being convinced it is true, even though evidence is lacking.

  • Mr Tarte... thank you for your videos. You have presented each in a very concise, precise and logical way. I just wished more religious people asked these same questions that you ask, and used their rationale to answer them. I have found that they don't because of fear. Is there anything else?

  • First class video with some awkward questions.

  • Great video sir.

  • Great video.

    5*'s, favourited and subscribed.

  • You get too caught up in this earthly life.

God giveth and taketh away. I ask you if there is nothing out there what is the purpose of you argueing any part of any religion. I like to call those like you "Evangalistic Atheist". Do not take my words in any way as hate but I just wish you luck.

  • Why are you spending time talking about someone who does not exist? How can God be nasty if he does not exist?

So, since you know that God does not exist, Edward, why do YOU say the earthquake happened?

What kind of a world is this? Why do bad and good things happen ... and shouldn't the world be evolving to a better state, not worse? What is going on here?

  • Lover.., I answer your questions in the video. I say: I do not find evidence for the existence of any god, but to communicate with believers, I speak of 'your God.' The quake had natural causes, understood by scientists. I make my videos because I value truth and world-view based on evidence. For more insight into why I care about religion, go to the favorites section of my profile page and watch "Why Atheists Care About Religion.'

  • dude..all i have to say to you is that i am sorry about everything that is about to happen to you if u don't accept Christ as your savior. it's crazy because you have no idea how great and powerful God is.

  • Azorn.., a major shortcoming of your comment is that you do not address the content of this video. I present a reasoned argument that it is impossible for a loving all-powerful God, creator of all things, to exist. If you want to make a worthwhile comment, you need to refute that reasoning, and give strong evidence to back up what you say.

  • Wait.., thank you so much for posting this famous reasoning of Epicurus, which is so very relevant to this video. You are the third commenter to post this quote; it deserves repetition. Many comments here are seriously flawed in lack of relevance, logic, common sense.

  • If He stops us from doing evil things, what about lying, or what about our evil thoughts? I mean, where do you stop, the murder level, the lying level, or the thinking level? If we want Him to stop evil, we gotta be consistent, we can't just pick and choose. That means you and I would be eliminated right? Because we think evil stuff. If that's true, we should be eliminated! But thanks be to God that Jesus stepped in to save us from our sin! Christ died for all evilness! Repent turn to Jesus man

  • "Jesus stepped in to save us from our sin! Christ died for all evilness". What does this mean? No basis in reality - just bare assertion.

You are positing an ethical position that if someone commits a murder they can be excused by "repenting". How is that just?

Evil can be stopped without "eliminating". (Your god would have to be eliminated under your position.) Regardless, I have committed no evil. How is "thinking an evil thought" or "lying" evil, if there is no gratuitous suffering?

  • Look, man, some people say that God ain't real 'cause they don't see how a good God can exsist with all this evil in the world. If God is real then He should stop all this evil, 'cause He's all-powerful right? What is evil though man? It's anything that's against God. It's anything morally bad or wrong. It's murder, rape, stealing, lying, cheating. But if we want God to stop evil, do we want Him to stop it all or just a little bit of it?

  • A problem for you, BSMOORE0909, is that if we take say the God of the Bible, we find that this God commands or condones murder, rape, stealing, slavery. Which is profoundly inconsistent with the concept of a loving god. Maybe you consider these as moral?

"if we want God to stop evil, do we want Him to stop it all or just a little bit of it" .

This is a deceitful red herring and false dilemma. Let's start with mass deaths in tsunamis and earthquakes, childhood cancer, child rape. FAIL

  • no its not because of all the bad things in the planet its just because there is no proof any god exists

  • Good video Edward, it feels good to see that there are still a few left in USA that have a working brain.

But it will not help what you say, only a long separation from the other cult members can make them think.

Now they help the HAITI peoples with prayers and thank God for a few saved, but no thanks to rescue workers and doctors.

I hope that America some day will be a free country, free from religious dogmas.

  • It was a natural disaster. It can happen anywhere, i don't think it was God's anger

  • I can't figure out how Christians get past the first commandment. Doesn't it define a thought crime? Isn't that obviously immoral? In a big way.

Is there a better way to insult someone than to tell them Jesus died to ensure they wouldn't be held accountable for their sins? Doesn't it imply they are the sort of person who wants freedom from responsibility for their actions?

Frankly, I see religion as the science of destroying our innate morality. The side effects of that placebo are too toxic.

  • As usual, brilliant.

  • "God" does not believe in other gods, and obviously does not believe in himself, I state here and now that "god" is an atheist and his followers should take note.

  • Christians created Atheists because of their persecuting belief of a savage hebrew god that commands to murder children and women and burn them (old testament). Atheists are wrong in believing the universe is all by chance. Both are flawed religions that are man made. Why not read more, for instance the trilogy "My Big Toe" by Thomas Campbell (a physicist) who logically ties in the "afterlife" with science as a natural thing? Atheist logically dismiss but has no answer except materialism

  • Shg..,atheists do not believe that the universe is all by chance. And atheism is not a religion. An atheist is by definition simply a person who finds no credible evidence for the existence of any god. If atheism is a religion, then 'off' is a TV channel, and bald is a hair color.

  • God sends disasters when hes angry........Haiti is the home voodoo. Thats why God sent the earthquake

  • you've got to be kidding me? LOL

  • God did cause the earthquake either directly or permissively. People tend to approach this question from a self righteous point of view so cannot understand God's purpose and reasons without calling him evil.

Every second a sinner breathes is a gift of grace and unmerrited mercy from God to the sinner. A sinner by nature and by merit has earned death many times over so if God calls in your marker and it's time to pay up then he is fully right and just in doing so

  • @bkorsund So we are faulty creations that are not capable of not sinning, therefore we deserve death and suffering. That is absurd, and you should be ashamed to believe in such madness. It seems like god mad us just to torture us. Your god is evil and thank goodness it is not real.

  • biblegeek says "god is all powerful, but he has limitation". this is an impossible contradiction. If he is all powerful, then there is no limitation to his power. Make up your mind.

  • my God needs no defense. As a Christian cancer survivor that almost didn't make it, I can say with personal experience that bad things happen to everyone and good things happen to everyone. The Bible supports that (if you want evidence). Saying that God killed these Haitians is utterly ridiculous. If you think that your mind is poisoned. Yes, God is all powerful, but he has limitation. He can't hate. He can't fit a square peg in a round hole. And he change your heart unless you ask.

  • BibleGeeek, God indeed does get angry and punish people for their sins. You just need to read the account of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis chap 18 & 19 to know that when men gets too wicked, God punishes them while they are still alive on earth. He does not wait for them to pass away from earth and send them to hell. Another example is the Great Flood where all men on earth drowned except Noah and his family. However, I confess I do not know everything.

  • If he gets angry then he is not perfect now is he.

  • Ilikejpgs, Have you ever heard of the word "righteous anger" ? John 2:15-16 tells us this about Jesus..." When he had made a whip of cords, He drove them (the people selling oxen, sheep and doves and the moneychangers) all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen and poured out the changers' money and overturned the tables. And He said to those who sold doves, "Take these things away! Do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise! " That...is the RIGHTEOUS ANGER of the Son of God.

  • Then again, the bible does tell us our God is a merciful God who is long suffering and does not want to see any man perish. That is why He provided a way for us to escape hell by making Jesus, His Son the sacrificial lamb for the sins of all mankind. Whoever accepts Jesus as Saviour and Lord has his sins covered by the blood of the Lamb (Jesus); whoever rejects Him is condemned already because while God is merciful and compassionate, He is also righteous and will punish men for their sins.

  • so God had to create a loophole in his own system to beat his own rules...do you even listen to how retarded you sound?

  • the reason you don't believe is because your mind is not open to something you cannot explain...you need jesus im sorry

  • 94, your comment is irrelevant to the point of this video, which is that if, as Christians believe, there is a Creator of all things, since the Haitian quake was a thing, then it follows by basic logic that that Creator created (caused) the quake. If you want to make a worthwhile comment, address the issue of how a loving God could cause so much horrible suffering, devastation, and death.

  • I'm a Christian, but, as much as I hate to say it, if things don't get as bad as they are, then all prophecy will be false. Earthquakes and famines. Possibly, the time for judgement has come, and it's going to get worse before it gets better. But, to answer your question, why do bad things happen to good people if God exists? Nobody knows. I do know that our sin has damned us as a race, and Haiti is just the beginning. For our sin, we are supposed to all deserve death.

  • @Dale747474 there have always been earthquakes and famines so that doesnt fit into prophecy predictions. We are not able to be sin free because we were not created with this ability, that means god made us faulty and wants to kill us for fun. BIBLE = BS

  • its prophesied in the bible that there would be a lot of earthquakes nearing the end of time, and also lots of wars, and rumors of wars, in the past 100 years there have been more vast earthquakes then ever before, also in the past 100 years there was world war 1, world war 2, vietnam war, a bunch of other inter-continental wars, and also now the Iraq war, the bible doesnt say that its because God wants it that way or allows it, its all due to consequence of error, the bible just foresees it

  • its awesome how atheists pose as "unbiased" while on the video he accuses the religion being the one to blame for an earthquake... lol... ok mr, lets go with a scientific explanation, the tectonic plates maybe? lol you understand so much about science why dont you open up a science book instead of blaming a God you do not believe in

humanity is to blame for ruining up this planet and damaging it so much...

"they say science is the key to the future, but it is the destruction of the past"

  • We know how earthquakes are made, he's pointing out the flaw in thier logic.

  • I'm not really understanding where you are coming from Mr. Tarte. You said that God is to blame.. but, you do not believe in any God. I'm confused with what you said in this video. Can you please clarify?

  • Riley, SeaTacAtheist explains below in a reply to TheGiovanniSantiago.

  • He is speaking from the point of view of a Christian.

If you are Christian, and believe in the bible, then you must accept this god is responsible for this disaster.

  • I'm sure it's directed, as said before, towards those that DO believe in God, so they can make another excuse for a tragedy he chose not to prevent.

  • all i can say is that you need to shut your mouth before you open it. God is the master of all things. he didnt cause this quake. before you speak i suggest you to go read job chapter 1-2. i myself is a haitian. i have lost many love ones, but i cnt not blame my lord for this catasthrophe. i know God will speak for himself. you are a fool if you think there is no God. i will surely pray for you. so that your eyes will b open, n see the bright side of life. i will definitely pray for you.

  • TheTjohn,I am so sorry you lost many loved ones in the quake.I have given what is for me much money to the Haitian relief effort.93% of an organization of my nation's top scientists do not believe in God--also Carl Sagan, Thomas Edison,Marie Curie,Albert Einstein, and so many others. They are not fools.I am not a fool.Your God will not speak;he always remains hidden.Although you and I do not agree about the religious side of your country's earthquake, I wish you the best.Sincerely,Edward Tarte

  • He sure as hell didn't prevent it now did he. I would but I guess I'm more moral than your God. Those were innocent people and mostly, innocent children that in no way should've been killed. Maybe he shouldn't have put us on a planet that supports life but kills aswell.

  • Clips..thank you so much for your comments.

  • Someone commented my psot was an absolute and they were correct. Here is my comment edited.

It is probably prudent to beware of ANYONE claiming to know the absolute truth from an absolute perfect source. That is probably dangerous to all humanity, for if someone claims to? have god on their side how can they be wrong?

Thats probably the scariest and most dangerous knowledge anyone can have.

Only the religious make this claim.

MORE THAN LIKELY NOONE KNOWS ANYTHING PERFECTLY!

  • My take is science will figure out how a lot of things work, how to cure many diseases, and even the origins of the universe. That said, we will never live forever, and we will never truly understand what happened BEFORE The Big Bang (or whatever theory comes up next). That's the challenge, and that's why it's impossible to be an atheist - there is no way to discover "the beginning". We can't comprehend it, but there may not be a "beginning". Makes being an atheist a bad bet, doesn't it?

  • Just because one can ask a question does not mean it makes sense ot ask it.

The universe owes humans ( a primitive puny speicies on an insignificant planet) any answers no matter how loudly we cry for one.

I could equally demand the universe tell me what is north of the north pole and it might also make no sense.

as humans things we do need to make sense in order for us to do them but this does not mena the universe is bound by human thoughts or ideas. The universe owes us NO ANSWERS!

  • Haiti is a nation where they practice occultism a lot... god in the bible clearly says that the wages for sin is death, and im glad you said its our God, because you have truth in ur mouth, but understand that the bible also says that the what you deserve for sinning whil come to you,, sooner or later... but what i dont like is you questioning God!?!?! well read Amos chapter 3:1-6, and i hope that answers your question.

  • Haiti's pact with the devil, commented on by Pat Robertson, is also found in the Stockholm Review of Latin American Studies, Issue No 4, March 2009. Here is a quote from that article....."On August 14, 1791 a leader named Boukman called for a secret meeting with many

other slaves in a forest called Bois-Caiman near Cap-Haitian where they had a satanic ceremony, killed a pig, and drank the blood, swearing and dedicating Haiti to serve the devil." (continue next post)

  • Ops..,so we find a Haitian husband, wife, and child who because of the quake have sustained injuries that will shortly kill them. While they are still alive, in agonizing pain, we say to them, 'God did this to you. He is punishing you for an unacceptable religious ceremony of the year 1791.'

  • edwardtarte, You don have to say anything, you just need to help them with whatever you can. But once the country has recovered, its society will really need to think hard if the Voodoo god of their ancestors which they worshp and served, is really the true and living God Almighty who made the universe and everything in it.... or is it the devil, Satan himself ? I have attended a meeting where a former Voodoo high priest told the audience he actually worship the devil.

  • We are nothing more than stardust after billions of years of evolution, If we prevent deaths from happening, are we really just hindering the engine of a naturalistic universe? Isn't this all a good thing?

  • @eldoniaguide Of course not. We, as living human beings, are as much apart of this naturalistic universe as death, as the earthquake, as animals and the rest of the universe. We effect the world around us, and the world effects us in return. To try to stop (postpone, more appropriately) death is one of the most natural things there is and does not hinder the 'engine' at all. Things begin and things end, things struggle and things succeed; we are a perfect example of this.

  • Deuteronomy 28 explains some of the blessing a nation will receive for obedience and the curses a nation will receive for disobedience.

Yes, my God caused both the first and second Haiti earthquakes. Sometimes fathers spank their children. With a history of worshiping devils apparently they needed a serious spanking.

  • Haiti needs a spanking but...

    North Korea doesn't?

    Iran doesn't?

    Sweden (80% atheist) doesn't?

You act as if God is powerless to stop humans from misbehaving and the ONLY tools he has are earthquakes, disease, plagues, tsunamis, etc...

Yet, interestingly these seem to plague the countries that are also the poorest...hmm wonder why.

Here is a better explanation. There is no God. Disasters happen because of the environment and karma is equally dispersed to all people regardless of faith

  • No God is not powerless to stop anything, He could speak this world out of existience just as easily as He spoke it into but will He? No, because His Word states His course of action otherwise. Did Haiti deserve to suffer an earthquake of this magnitude, I'm not God, your not God and PAT ROBERTSON DEFINATELY ISN"T GOD AND DOES NOT SPEAK FOR HIM EITHER!!! so we can't say. I'm surprised that you did not include the USA in that list?

  • Epanek, thank you so much for replying to this obnoxious comment of swordofdixie. Instead of sending devastating earthquakes without warning, his God could easily communicate with a nation--could take over the TV channels for example. But his God never manifests himself. His God always remains hidden. This is exactly what would be the case if his God did not exist.

  • Bingo!

  • Our God HAS communicated with the world. His instructions are contained in the best selling book in the world. It's called the Bible and when you were a lukewarm Catholic you might have even opened it once or twice. Everything you need to know is in it.

He manifested Himself just fine in 2 earthquakes. Maybe they could get a clue from that?

Take over TV channels!? LOL! You are so incredibly shallow!

  • Sword.., the Bible is a collection of primitive backward writings by men with much ignorance, prejudice, and superstition. The Bible is not a reasonable basis for anyone's religious beliefs. It endorses slavery, sexism, rape, animal sacrifice, mass murder, mass torture. It is scientifically false; it is not historically reliable. Maybe it never occurred to you that your God might choose to actually manifest himself. An earthquake is not God manifesting himself. I am not the shallow one.

  • @swordofdixie And this shows how much you know about the Haitian people. You do understand that one of the major tenets of Haitain Vodou is serving God, correct? You serve God (Called Olorun in their language) above all, then the Loa that are represented by Saints and act much like what we would call angels, and then you serve the community. The idea that they worship 'devils' is a completely misguided wive's tale and can be rectified by some simple research into their faith.

  • please study why God permits bad things to happen. He gives us free will. The pain Haiti suffers although bad, is not forever.

  • I don't believe God or the Devil caused this or any other Earthquake, Tornado, Storm, Hurricane, rain, Sunrise, Sunset, Flood, etc. The Earth is a living thing in one way or another like plants who have no heart or brain, the sun lives and will one day burn out just like other stars. The Earth did this not God. God created living things and created randomness. You could also say that a 5 year old child surviving is just something that happened and not a miracle, but that's up to you. God Bless

  • wtf is the point of this? shit happens.. the force of nature.. get over it

dude i didn't see china get this much attention in 2008.. and they had a fucking bigger earthquake..

haiti is suppose to be the french problem but USA have to play hero and save everyone.. + recession.. what is Europe doing? what is Asia doing? what is south America and Canada doing? isnt there like a world global emergency earthquake task force?

  • Hes not saying God did it instead of shifting plates. He isnt talking about what instruments that killed people, he means that the Christians who say God controls everything and punishes non believers let them die if he indeed controls everything.

  • Just think, God could destroy you next! As someone who hates Evil... I will cheer when your wasted life is crushed from your worthless body you nasty, poisoned soul!!

  • @jtred74. I have no idea why you bothered to post three such worthless messages. You have not made even the smallest effort to refute anything that the gentleman said in his video. At least make ONE attempt to explain or defend this cruel, petty, vindictive, unjust, jealous, sadistic monster-god of yours. Or perhaps you are unable to do so?

That you call a thoughtful and honest man "worthless" and "evil", and would cheer his demise, says more about you and your religion than I am capable.

  • You Atheist have a religion wether you will admit it or not. You have faith in yourselves and your god is science. I have seen your videos of the meetings you have; you guys are in church!

Did God cause the quake? That I don't know.

Either way it does not sway my faith in him; he is God the Creator of all things and his will be done.

  • @07Artist. You need to explain how atheists have a religion. If you stick to any dictionary definition of the word 'religion', I do not think you are able to do it. Are you? The problem is that you do not understand the meanings of the basic words that you use. That makes for a very weak argument and that indeed is what you have presented.

Your faith hasn't been swayed because your mind has been poisoned and so you are incapable of thinking rationally or critically about what you believe. Sad.

  • 07, you say your God is Creator of all things. It follows by a simple logical syllogism that your God created (caused) the Haitian quake. That was an evil, immoral thing for your God to do. Concerning your other point: we atheists do not have religious beliefs, because we find no credible evidence to support any religious beliefs. If atheism is a religion, then 'off' is a TV channel, and 'bald' is a hair color.

  • Your promoting the death of your soul... good luck buddy!

  • Your an Idiot!

  • I used to preach Their will always be earthquakes and storms.God is dead

  • Your Amazing Man well done on owning the Christians.

  • Great video!

There's so much christian hate toward Haiti out there. What really irritates me are the christian haters who talk about how their god is punishing the people of Haiti and then turn around and claim that the survivors are all miracles that prove their benevolent, loving god exists.

  • Dude God did not cause the earthquake! it was the tectonic plates shifting.

If you dont believe in a God... how come youre saying God did this???

  • @TheGiovanniSantiago. Ed is not saying that God caused the earthquake. He stated that he doesn't believe in God. At times, he may temporarily assume the guise of someone who DOES believe in the Christian god in order to ask the salient questions that Christians SHOULD be asking themselves. It is a valid and thought-provoking debating technique. He actually explains this quite clearly at the beginning of the video by saying, "In order to communicate with you, I will speak of YOUR god.".

  • I'd like to know who created this malevolent, jealous, vengeful, genocidal, hateful god. Oh yeah, a bunch of ancient Middle Eastern yokels did. These are the same people who thought that every time it thundered it was a portend of god, thought that the world was flat, that we're at the center of the Universe, that the Sun revolved around us, hell, they weren't even aware of a northern hemisphere, but they can paint god's eyebrows. They're more ignorant than Robertson. What a fraud!

  • actually it is a warning sign for the west......

  • ThePeace.., a major problem with your comment is that you say nothing about what I say in this video. This video is about the relation between a being believed by many to exist and to be Creator of all things, and the horribly devastating Haitian earthquake.

  • It is only when man faces death that man truly embraces life.

A woman feels excruciating pain during labor, but rejoices in the birth of her child.

By losing my Father to death, I held tightly to my Mother who lives.

A place where there is only sunshine and no rain is called a desert.

God whispers to us in good times, and Shouts to us in times of Calamity.

Romans 8:18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us...

    God Loves You!

  • mproblem, your comment is poetic but insensitive to the tremendous suffering and misery that the Hatian quake caused, is causing, and will continue to cause. You do not address the main point of the video, which is: if, as Christians believe, there exists a Creator of all things, then the Creator of all things created (caused) the quake, which was a horribly cruel and immoral thing to do.

  • Okay Edward, I am going to respectfully bow out of this conversation. I'll be praying for you and for all of the non-believers here as well.

If you get a minute, research the news stories on the internet that deal with all of the Haitians that are praising God right now. Thousands of Haitians are Christians, and are Glorifying God with their Faith amidst the disaster. Maybe you should send them your video, see if you can't rid their minds of the "Poison" as you call it.

    God Bless, Jesus Lives

  • This MoFo provably lost someone, as he was a pious man back in the past, now his rancor has begot a line of back lash. So, please Mr. Atheist I beg you to pray to GOD, and forgive him for you must not judge GOD for it is he who will JUDGE you, I will have you in my prayers and I am sorry that you were grieved in your life but GOD is not your enemy.

  • Urielly, a major problem with your comment is that it says nothing about the point of this video.

  • I really feel sorry for you, not because I am a perfect man (I am too a sinner) but because in the end you will never know the Love of our God; me and you... I do address the issue you just can not see it.

  • @mproblem. Your comments do not address the quandry that Ed has presented to believers in his video. Your list of one-liners are not apposite to the topic, and scripture quotes add nothing to a discussion, as always. Also, putting 'Amen' at the end of a sentence does not make the statements within that sentence true. However earnestly you say them. This is just not good enough. Then you are reduced to asking whether 'love' exists. This all does nothing to show the existence of a god or gods.

  • If you going as far as pretending if god existed he's and evil one then why not pretend the bible was true? That would then explain it. Your like a child calling their parents evil because they spanked you and left out the reason why. I'm not saying hatei was being punished directly, but it came from the plates shifting caused by the flood account a while back which was punishment.

  • Eldon, your comment comparing me to a spanked child is rude, insensitive, and mindless. This video is about a God who allegedly exists and allegedly is Creator of all Things; and a specific Thing, the unspeakably devastating Haitian earthquake. Your reference to punishment makes no sense. An innocent Haitian child dies from lack of water. Is that part of the punishment?

  • How is my comment mindless, It's a metaphor. Why don't you comment on my point rather then your feeling on it. Do you understand the bibles reasoning for things that happen such as this? You don't actually think god directly caused this to happen do you?

  • Why is Haiti being punished? Isn't being the poorest country in the western hemisphere bad enough?
