I don't think that we should end Affirmative action altogether, but I think we should adapt it to make it more effective. The best way to do this would be to minimize (but not eliminate) racial preferences and instead focus more on socioeconomic factors.

I (a Latina) did very well in middle school and could go to the "elite" high school (richer, >15% POC) that offered biology/chemistry/physics. My neighborhood high school (poorer, 80+% POC) only offered "integrated science" 1/2/3. College do not want to see "integrated science"! They prefer distinct courses. Many little changes need to be made, not just one thing.

Affirmative Action was about gender and race. First phase of fulfilment was gender. That was when white women flooded the work force, because white men's first preference was white women(i.e.: their wives & daughters). Phase two was color/gender, that's when black & hispanic women entered the workforce, but it was not overwhelming. Then the men of color got what was left (Phase Three). Phases 2 & 3 are a very small percentage, but whites still complain about unfairness & inequality.
