hey sorry to bother you but im thinking about getting the display but i want to know is that if i just plug in my macbook is what is on my screen going to pop up on the display or is it going to act as a hardrive? please answer back asap.
@supersonicfan123 the apple display can be used with any apple computer that has the mini display port. So i would say any apple computer within the last 5 years (major guesstimation there)
@TheKMStudios and graphics card. and deeper color, and faster, and more ram, and bigger hdd. and snowleopard default xD i've got the early 2010 21.5" and a late 2008 20" the new one is SO much nicer.
@Em13Baller wrong way round.... this monitor was specifically designed for the macbook pro unibody (mini display port) and originally didn't work with the mac pro, i mac and macbook (before they went unibody as well) because they still had mini dvi, then they released the adaptors so it could be connected to the rest of the range, and now all the new macs come with mini display port
The problem I see: it is glossy. It is not just i-Mac it is pretty much every manufacturer responsible for this 'Crime Against Humanity'. Let alone the fact that seeing myself is disturbing enough, it is the sky and clouds when 'outdoors' or fluros when inside. It is fine to be reminded of natural beauty or to save electricity, but occasionally I just want to work without destructions.
this isnt really the 2009 iMac, He might have brought it in 2009 but its an old model. The new iMac displays i think are better than the cinema display.
@xDJDGx the display is $900. people who are switching from windows (where their computers are about $900) could think that the monitor is just a lower model, or worser model then the $2000 iMac
for some reason, when u compair the LED Cinema Display and the iMac side by side, at first glance the iMac looks like it has a 4:3 display instead of 16:9.
Sadly it wont. Apple has made the Cinema Display with a MiniDisplay Port and as of this time there are no adapters for MiniDisplay Port and i'm guessing your HP Has DVI, VGA, and HDMI? As an example HDMI Out from HP to MiniDisplayPort plug. another thing is that it's more so ment for a Mac because Apple has also added their Power Adapter to it. But you never know someone will have an adapter someday. i'm waiting for an adapter myself for my older generation MacBook Pro through DVI to use it.
yeh its wierd to think of it lol i can't believe the songs so old now.
Starbucks was a good song too :)
btw good video. i used the imac at college (the white one) but hav also used the aluminium one and they're just not great for audio. its just too tinny.
even if the cinema display is better, id still opt for dedicated speakers, as my 24" HP monitor (maybe apple copied the design lol look it up HP w2408h) has built in speakers too, but built in just isnt good enough for constant use.

I have vista. Doesn't bother me one bit. In fact, its the most stable OS I have ever used. My last comp was a real POS. Shitty modified dell parts. Fuck that
same here middlefinger22, im tryin out a costco 28" monitor for like 300 bucks. 600 bucks for a 24" doesnt sound worth it to me. Maybe im wrong and its the greatest thing ever invented, but meh, ill just stick with 28" display XD.
The only bad thing about this display is the shiny screen, it looks good if you're just looking at it, but when you're working, you can get a lot of unwanted reflection, which can be very annoying.
dude come on I didnt mean to be rude. Also, when I mean ghost power i meant phantom power which means it sucks battery life from the macbook. If you use this display you wouldent bring it everywhere so you dont need to worry about it killing your payload. If you have it its meant for like a base station for your desktop. Like using a portable removable mac pro. (if you get what I mean)
Not right now, because when you shut the Macbook's screen closed, it goes into sleep, and because the LED display runs off of the Macbook's battery, it would not power on. When Mac's sleep, they shut off all the ports, to save as much battery as possible. Do like I do, just set the Macbook on like a shelf next to the desk, so you don't see it. Just make sure it's plugged in, or else that display will DESTROY the Mac's battery. (i.e. run the battery down fast)
Full HD is 1920 x 1080 which the 24" can display at full width. The 30" has a native resolution of 2560 x 1600 so it will have to interpolate both horizontally and vertically with full HD video giving you edges which are not as sharp.
Not on a MacBook. If you want a triple-screen setup with the 24" LED Display, you'd have to get a Mac Pro with 3 NVIDIDA graphics cards and 3 24" Displays. Mac Pros are too much computer and are extremely expensive, though, AND each graphics card is $150 AND the displays are $900 each, so that'd seriously break the bank.
The one thing I don't want it a display that's brighter than my 24" iMac. I have it set to zero brightness, and it's still quite bright. Deeper blacks are always welcome though. You cannot get them deep enough.
Great vid i didnt even know the Display had speakers i thought (with the mac mini) you had to provide your own so thats good to know. yea i know what you mean by that. i usually turn it down by 3 notches. Too much strain on the eyes. But it usually depends on the brightness of the day. (isnt likely in the UK lol)
