  • Wow! What an eye opener for having only known him for his 70's stuff. I hear definite shades of Ray Charles with a little Randy Newman thrown in for good measure. He looks like my next listening mission, to be sure.

  • Since I Fell For You -- I always love to come across new-to-me renditions of this tune. (One unique one is by Lou Christine and Lesley Gore - if you can believe it. ) But this one by Charlie Rich is, no surprise, deeply emotional, jazzy and commanding. I think Rich was a vastly talented and complex performer, and these two tunes (on this video) highlight his talents perfectly. The best tribute to Charlie Rich is to simply let his music play on and on and on. Peace,

    Charlie.

  • Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. You're right about the best tributebeing to let his music play on and on..

  • You're so nice, thank you. I find myself watching these quite often, especially now that mu husband of 43 years recently passed on the 11th. They bring alot of pleasure to hear Charlie's voice and these great songs. Naomi

  • I really do like the bluesy way Charlie does "Why O Why" and his piano playing always makes his sound so enjoyable . His voice always "sends" me and everything he's recorded is great. He has such a wonderful distinctive voice which is hard to come by these days. I do miss him so. You've done a really good job with all your pictures on this video . Thanks so much for posting. - Paula

  • Thank you!

  • Hi Naomi! This is just amazing!

    God given talent!

An amazing piece of music indeed!

  • Man........Elvis and Ray Charles wrapped up into one voice. Did Charlie Rich write, "Why Oh Why"???

  • Yes, Charlie first wrote and recorded this song in 1964, then re-recorded it in 1974, which is what you're listening to on this video. I think this is the best version by far. Thanks for posting~ Naomi

  • i ahave been looking for charlies somg called the grass is always greener.have you ever heard of it? i had it on a '45- years ago

  • Yes, I have it on an LP and I think I copied it to a CD and then copied it to my pc. I will pm you. Naomi

  • My parents loved listening to Charlie Rich when they were first dating. I love his music too. He has such a beautiful voice and it's sexy too. I love his romantic songs.

    RIP, Charlie Rich.

  • Thanks LeanaJoH76..I agree 100% about the sexiness of his voice. No other singer could ever give me shivers like he could.

  • I think you would be able to command a great radio show!!! Wow!!

  • Thank you!

  • Are you from Gainesville?

  • I'm from Redding in California. I love this song. Though we're losing great singers right and left. Johnny Cash, Elvis, Roy Orbison & Charlie Rich have all left us. We should all be grateful of the music they've left us. Thanks for posting.

  • Nope, ex- Hoosier and still a FIGHTING IRISH fan!

  • Thanks im1gator!

  • Charlie connects with both Country and the Blues,AWESOME! Thanks for the posting

  • Charlie, you're gone, but you're still great and we still love you. You out-Elvis Elvis. Cheers!

    A fan

  • He sure does!

  • How precious with the picture of Charlie holding his granddaughter. As usual, he gets more out of a song than most entertainers do. I love these songs. Thanks again Naomi for a great video.

  • Thank YOU Paulina! "Why Oh Why" was recorded more than once by Charlie, but there is a distinct difference in this version, which brings out his emotions so well, and I listen to it all the time. Naomi

  • The man has it all together with his singing and piano playing. He puts such soul into everything he does.

  • Besides being a great singer he is quite a pianist too!!

  • Thank you so much for sharing Charlie with the rest of us. "Since I Fell For You" is one of my all time favorite songs and no one could ever do it like Charlie. He truly was a "magic man", and especially so with this song. May God bless us all by allowing us to sing with him in the next life!
