Why did you kill that poor old man, melody?

She said, He was never good to me.

She said, He was never kind to me.

    ...

She said, I would never do it again. Give me another chance.

I said, Why didnt you come to me? I said,"Why didnt you talk to me?

    - lyrics u'll nvr hear from other bands & how kazu pauses/emphacizes certain phrases... amazing. this is got to be 1 of my fav songs of theirs.

  • I've literally just come across this band, sounding good so far. Any suggestions on what i NEED to hear?

  • @TheWez24 23 and spring and by summer fall.. all-time-favs <3

  • @TheWez24 fever ray - the knife and the classic never failing: Björk

  • @Fertjenandag You pretty much just listed my top two.

  • @4iemesEtagesDuJapon who is the first one for you? My all times favourite is Björk. I feel that almost everything that is out there has firstly been done by Björk and others have been inspired by her (Radiohead, Fever ray, etc) Everytime I find something new, I'm glad and happy. As I was when I first came across Fever ray.. but after a while I come back to Björk. She is the real thing.

  • @Fertjenandag The first was definitely Björk. In fact, I first listened to The Knife (which I actually love much more than just Fever Ray herself) because of a magazine article that compared them to Björk. That was enough for me to be interested. So obviously I probably wouldn't even have heard of The Knife if it weren't for Björk. Everything about her is unique. There's nobody else like her. I played Mother Heroic to a friend of mine. . . she hated it. Needless to say, I was devastated :(

  • @4iemesEtagesDuJapon Yes, I also think she is unique in many ways: her voice, her sense of music, her appearance... I really really like her... How come she didn't like it? Did you sing and play it with a piano? But we have to admit that people either love her or hate her. I have my theory that her music is for intelligent, sensitive and selective people. If not, you will never understand nor like her, her music is difficult to digest by "precocious" people.

    So don't feel bad! ;)

  • @TheWez24

Of each album: Blonde Redhead: Snippet, Astro Boy, Mama Cita, Swing Pool. La Mia Vita Voilenta: U.F.O, Violent Life. Fake Can Be Just As Good: Kazuality, Bipolar, and Futurism VS. Passeism. Melody Of Certain Damaged lemons: In particular, Melody of certain three. Misery Is a butterfly: Elaphant woman, Falling man, Misery is a butterfly. 23: 23, SW,

  • @TheWez24

Oh and listen to their newest album, Penny Sparkle!!!

  • REACT

    Pen is position opinion (RANK)

  • the music is like a walk on a warm day when nothing seems right in the world but you know it will get better hope hope hope

  • Esta Banda Me La Recomendo Luis Humberto De Enjambre y puta Tiene Razon!!

  • es un rolononon !!!!

    perrisima la rola... bjôrk style

me hace sentir una soledad y angustia infinita

    que gran melancolia

  • Amedeo is one of the most lovely humans I've ever seen in person. I had the pleasure of creepily sitting next to Blonde Redhead as they ate lunch before a show at the Majestic theatre/cafe.

Amedeo has this certain grace about him.. He definitely makes a good "bust" .. looks just like an old greek bust statue! Of course, that's not to say his brother isn't equally as gorgeous but, I'll just say Kazu is one lucky girl =D

  • is this fan made?

  • The three people in this video are Blonde Redhead.

  • scares the shit out of me but i freaking love it!

  • beautiful pictures and sights of Spain

  • this album makes people fall in love

    *true story

  • @linxcor just downloading the album now after never having embraced this band back in the day!

  • @linxcor It certainly did that for me too. Was the first time I was introduced to them, 'Misery Is A Butterfly'.

  • In an Expression of the Inexpressible

Is by far my most favourite Blonde Redhead

that's the album that helped change the bands image as a Sonic Youth copy cat.

I also love Sonic Youth and I see no resemblance what so ever between both bands...maybe their first album Blonde Redhead self-titled album, but that's because it was produced by Steve Shelley, drummer for Sonic Youth

  • how can i download this song cause i cant seem to find it can any one help

  • google blonde redhead melody mp3 that's how i got it hope this helps.

  • this song is amazing!

  • listen t this bfore sleep..never get bored.

  • this is a pretty good band

  • This song creeps me out.

  • how?

  • The song has a gloomy feeling

  • ohhh okay.

  • BLONDE REDHEAD is one of the most AMAZING groups in all of this world and beyond. and i love them with all of my heart. Misery is a Butterfly and 23 are two of the most beautiful albums ever recorded. (the other two would be Unknown Pleasures and Closer, obviously)

  • Fucking love this song.

  • soft song

  • mmm

  • Blonde Redhead's music is like steamy, hot-breathed sincere love making.

  • yeah I had such a great makeout session with my girl the other day and had the entire Butterfly album playing the whole time. Freakin beautiful. I felt like we were in a movie :)

  • @oldkzildjians that is why they r said to be one of the sexiest bands! like all the other bands r cutesy girls & blonde redhead is a sophisticated woman. lol.

damn those frenchies & japs, as irritating as they can be @ times... they know their art. esp the frenchies!

  • The statues and architecture creep me out though. Remind me too much of the mormon church.

  • Class.

  • I don't really get the 'Radiohead vs BR discussion' in so many BR videos on youtube. Their music is extremely different - hard to judge by 'better'/'worse'. Radiohead is much more abstract, in a space somewhere between rock, alt, and even progressive classic. BR music makes me feel as if I'm young again and at a party in Paris/France. Their sensitivty is so French. Radiohead lyrics are allusive and so touch me rarely; BR is *raging* borderline ('for the damaged' - hello) and so they do.. Etc.

  • Beautiful beyond comprehension!

  • fuck those vocals freak the shit out of me

  • Yeah, me too. I almost fucking shat my pants!

  • ..brill song.!!

  • lovely scene of the twins playing chess...

  • i wish we coudl get this videos on HD

is there a website were u can download videos at high res?

this fuckin youtube sucks for that

  • The difference between Blonde Redhead and Radiohead is that you actually want to listen to a Blonde Redhead song more than once. You remember them. They have haunting melody and atmosphere while Radiohead is mostly just atmosphere.

  • That's bullshit and you know it.

  • Nope, not in the least. I'm sure I'm among thousands of people who have dozens of Radiohead songs on their iPods they NEVER listen to. When I heard about them I expected to like them, it seemed like the right combination of arty and unique.

But I just don't find their songs all that compelling. They're like one long whiney blah. They have no hooks and their melodies suck. I want to like them but I don't. Meanwhile I wear out my Blonde Redhead disks.

  • the "right combination of arty and unique" wow bro r u srs? You look at bands like drinks you can pick off shelves?

Anything Radiohead did from 1997-2002 is certified grade A brilliant. "In Limbo" "Knives out" Those songs melodically are endlessly innovative- The best music takes the most time to digest, in my experience. But I'm not going to go out of my way to convince you.

and hooks? if you listen to blonde redhead and complain about hooks you need to take a long look in the mirror dude.

  • thanks for that. What I meant is that Radiohead SEEMS like a band I would like. But I didn't.

I'll give another try sometime when I'm so bored I'm on the verge of sticking a fork in my eyes.

  • I love Radioheads early stuff and InRainbows was great. I sometimes listen to House of Cards over and over again. But, then again I do that with 23 which is another great song. I love the music Blonde Redhead have put out on the 4AD label and respect how Radiohead is putting out music on their own terms and label. To me, independant labels are putting out the best music coming out these days.

  • In rainbows was a hard pill to swallow for me, it has a warm, loving tone indicative of maturity in great bands. I'm endeared to the cold, distant sounds of Kid A and Ok Computer when it comes down to it. But I love In rainbows now, it's a gorgeous album, and i really can't think of a better direction they should have headed in. Thom has kind of settled into his role after years of wandering, but i trust him. He knows what he's doing.

  • In Rainbows got me back into Radiohead for sure and it was the best direction for them to go in. I think it's when I read all these major label were freaking out after RH said they were going to release IR for free. Trent Reznor is also lauging at major labels. Great. Because they have no clue what good music is and are interested in the all mighty dollar. I like bands like this and Radiohead myself and I think there is finally some good music coming out again.

  • You have a good point, mindlessherman. I'm sure many people like Blonde Redhead better than Radiohead.

Yet, at the same time, plenty of people like Radiohead more than Blonde Readhead.

I like both. But I like Radiohead better. That's just my preference. Radiohead moves me in a way Blonde Redhead does not, but I still find this band to be absolutely captivating.

ps - what Radiohead songs have you listened to? Because they do have some great melodies. I don't mean that sarcastically at all.

  • Both Blonde Redhead and Radiohead are great bands that have stood the test of time from the countless bands that have fizzled away after the 90s or sold out. You have to like both for different reasons. I think more people have heard of Radiohead that have never heard of Blonde Redhead. In fact, I've heard of BR since the 90s, but never really got into them until recently.

  • This song is absolutely amazing. Is there any way I can download it? (: <3

  • Nevermind! I got it! :D

  • this song have my name

    i love londe redhead

    mi name is melody

  • I love this song, but reminds me of radiohead a lot, the bands name, the melodys, she is the female version of thom yorke...

  • what's their genre?

  • What difference does it make what word you decide to call them? The music is itself.

  • independent music, often abbreviated as "indie".

  • i wouldnt like to put them in a box, but you can find similarities on music by some adult contemporary musicians

  • This really reminds me of Radiohead ... Having said that it's so original!

    Lovely song

  • it's really gloomy but some how makes me feel better than ever

  • love the lyrics...

  • luxury

  • love it

  • the first song I've ever heard of them and still my favorite. it brings tears in my eyes...

  • her voice is too beautiful...

this is the most beautiful songs i´ve listened

"Why did you kill that poor old man, melody

She said, He was never good to me..."

    amazing.

  • its killing me. by its beauty

  • GREAAAAAT BAND...de lo mejor q he escuchado

  • reminds me of bat for lashes

  • yeah, both bands are amazing!

    love them

  • she reminds me Mr Plow....

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

  • Tonight pier 54 in NYC, FREE.

  • too bad it rained out. waited online for three hours. damn

  • I know...That really sucked...But the next day I saw Dirty Projectors at Seaport, another great band from the city, and was FREEE!! and then on Saturday I saw Battles at Summerstage in Central Park, in my opinion, the best band fron NEW YORK and guess what? it was also FREEEE!!! I love this city...!!

  • you waited online?

  • yea

  • puta madreeee

  • I just can´t wait they visit Mexico !!!

  • they're not mainstream music, which is sad

  • why would it be sad?

better that way, then their music doesn't turn into shit and we can enjoy them for longer.

  • this type of responce sickens me with the putrid stentch of unintelligent hipster. you're a sick fuck.

stop being a selfish prick and if you even like their music, in your comment it seems that you do, hope for them to be successful, if not GTFO.

  • i already did today. 3 times. bitch.

  • I think people need to stop logging into youtube at work. It makes people mean. :-)

  • good song!

  • drummer genio?!? the drowning man of THE CURE!!!

  • Awesome! The music manages to fit the video magnificently. I love the scenery too, and the way that it was shot. Like an aristocratic home video of the 70s. Bravo!

  • The view at 2:30 is simply great...I have Loved this video since i first discovered it.

  • drummer = genius

  • absolutely. so tasteful, particularly over their last few releases, it could make ya cry.

  • not really into the video but i love this track

  • I like the percussion on this song

  • Pretty much every Blonde redhead song makes me want to cry. Dr. Strange love .. makes me break down..:(

  • yup same here, just was telling my friend about that and we agreed on it, great music, but depressing indeed.

  • romantic, beautiful.

  • not the best but charming

  • romantic,romantic.

  • 2:08 IS FUCKEN CREEPY!

  • yes it is!

  • This band it's so good, and the videos are so artistic, maybe video art, all concept it's very aestetic.

  • Warning: this music is addictive.

  • very :]

  • you know there are very few bands in this world truly noticing and loving, and Blonde Redhead is one of them. I'd NEVER heard a band like them before and I'm just happy to have heard of them.

ah, they're something real special man!!!

  • oh i do love this song!

  • I like the drum breaks. to-do-daat to-do-daat.

  • I just cannot get over this song, and most of their music..and I cry. Always. Why does this song do that to me.. My Melodie?? It is so rhetorical in it's own touchin way.

  • cry?

  • And Britney n Paris are hot celebrities in this world!

  • I really love the melancholic sound and the instruments used just add to the emotional feeling this piece spreads!

  • this is a special band!!! =)

  • i love her

  • this is special man

  • she could charm a horse within a momment.

  • I recognize the castle / Roman aqua duct from Segovia, (not sure if that's spelt correctly) a small town to the north of Madrid close to the mountains...

  • I think its their best album, such a good band

  • is this before or after her accident?
