How was lapping the OCZ Vendetta 2? Any special technique to use, due to the direct-touch heatpipes? I have one on my OC'd E8500, and love it...low to mid-50's at 100% orthos load, running at 4.2ghz. I've heard horror stories of sanding through the thin walls of the pipes when lapping...any real risk of this happening?
can anybody help me? i will buy a core quad , and i heard, that i need some program to i can use out totally from the quad, which this programs name? thnx before.
You don't need "a" program to make full use of a quad. It's the programs that make full use of it depending on the amount of threads that they run.
For example, the game "Crysis" is multithreaded and will use all four cores. However, and older program from when quads weren't around might only run two threads and therefore it will only use two cores,
ME! Quite easy really. I used a 2B pencil with 6-7 shades over the relevant resistor, now Vdroop is non-existant. I highly recommend this mod to anyone with a P5K!
There is a small risk. The idea if pencil modding is to reduce the resistance. You should only do about 2 strokes then test the load and idle voltages and repeat the process. The Vdroop is due to the 3 phase power design.
I want to, I want to!! But I can only do 3.6 for benching with my current cooler (OCZ Vendetta 92mm). I'm over 70c under load at 3.6 so I'll be picking up the Xigmatek HDT-X1284 Achilles when it comes available.
the q6600 is legendary. i heard u can clock up to 4 ghz on air @@. u should get the ati 790fx with intel socket so u can do quad gpu for cheap. nividia is good but performance vs price is way too much. the 3870 single slot runs 149 newegg and the toxic ver is only 10-20 dollars more. u can use 2 double slot 3870 and 1 3870x2 for quad crossfire x. imho the single 3870 clocks higher and uses gddr4 compared to 3870x2 uses less clock and gddr3.
I would have liked to do CrossfireX, because it is a much better technology than SLI IMO, but the 790FX is an AMD chipset and therefore is completely different to an Intel motherboard.
I looked at the HD 3870 before getting my 8800GT, but I got the GT because of it's slightly better performance. Plan on upgrading to a HD 4870 soon too when it comes out, RV770 is looking like a monster.
Thanks, I only have a 92mm cooler ATM, but I plan on upgrading to a Tuniq Tower or ULTRA 120 eXtreme, I can do 3.6Hz with my current cooler but load temps are 70c.
WHY CANT ANYONE JUST USE THE BIOS LKIE I DO

hi, thnx!
so i need NOT a special program, just a "cpu wiewer"? ant it's i will have when i bought a computer, on cd?! it's correct?
MrBrook69 2 years ago
on the spec it doesnt says that toughpower 750 watt works with quad core. bt i'm guessing that it does rite?
oxman7 3 years ago
Works fine, EPS spec so two dedicated rails to the CPU.

wait 1 min
soo if this is very good for overclocker why dosnt asus do it
is their any risk ??

belive me dont get that cooler get a thermalright ultra 120 extreme with a FAST fan 3000 rpm is a good start
CRAKIZGOOD 3 years ago
HDT mate. The TR120E has been dethroned. Especially when I bolt the thing down, and stick an ULTRA Kaze on the front.
worshipme213 3 years ago
they jus came out with a new one the ocz vendetta 2
i heard it is the best cooler in the market rite now
urlame101 3 years ago
well the best is the thermalright ultra 120 extreme but u must get a very fast fan
CRAKIZGOOD 3 years ago
u can have a very fast fan on the vendetta 2 and it will be the fastest cooler out there
urlame101 3 years ago
erm
let me explain the best cooler is the therlamright 120 cuz it has alot of heatpipes and state of that art fin desine check it out
CRAKIZGOOD 3 years ago
It also has an uninnovative copper slab soldered to the 6mm heat pipes.
worshipme213 3 years ago
so what the thermalright 120 is the best ill send u a link
CRAKIZGOOD 3 years ago
i had both of them for two of my computers with the same processor

Where, what and how do I get this overclock software you are using? Free I hope.
flueist 3 years ago
I never use software to overclock. The BIOS is the one and only tool.
For temps I use Realtemp V2.6, and for Stress testing I use Prime95.
worshipme213 3 years ago
hey anyone can tell me how to overclock q6600 to 3.2ghz on Asus maximus formula in Steps with air cooling. I am using OCZ VANQUISHER for the cpu.

how much could i over clock this with water cooling?
bass5445 3 years ago
Depends on the quality of your WC components. But I think you could expect at least 3.6GHz with a decent kit.
worshipme213 3 years ago
yea its a thermaltake 780i i think? or 760i
bass5445 3 years ago
Big water 760i. Yep, I think 3.6Ghz should be easily attainable.
worshipme213 3 years ago
just wondering what do you think would be a REALLY good water cooling kit? thx

BTW. load temps are 59 59 55 54 just in case you can't see in the vid. Both CPU and HSF are lapped.
