  • Very good video, it taught me stuff I wouldn't know about face routine, so thank u dear Julia ....

  • & also why do u contour your forehead??

  • If you have narrow or slim face do you still have to contour, because I wouldn't like my face looking any skinnier?? Sorry I sound a bit clueless, i'm new to makeup :)

  • Julia, you are soooo funny! "...huge honkin-ass brush." lol ... I love it!

  • what type of camera do you use to film your videos?

  • Contouring is so simple for artists, graphics designers, etc....anyone who works with a visual medium and has developed an eye for light sources. I mean, anyone can catch on quick, but especially us. We're just like "Oh, put light shades where the light hits and where we want something to pop, and dark shades where the shadow would fall if our cheekbones and stuff stuck out naturally". This video taught me which brush to use though, so thanks <3

  • Have you tried using a pale gold eyeshadow (I use L'Oreal Color Appeal Eyeshadow in 23 Golden Shimmer), and using a small wet brush, applying it to the inner corners eyes, and bring it a small bit on the lower and upper lash line? Also just under the outer edge of the eyebrows, very top of the brow bone? Something I learnt from makeup artist Rae Morris; it really makes your eyes pop!

  • Wow you're so beautiful, I can only imagine what your mom would look like. May I have her phone number?

  • so nice...

  • lol honkin ass brush thats funny :)

  • awesome, thanks!

  • Before i tried this i listened again for her to say if she did it all darker than she normally would and she did and I took a lighter run for it and it looked fantastic.

so for those of you who said its too dark try it lighter. :)

  • I dont like the contoured cheek bones. It looks really dirrty. Or maybe its just the vid.

  • @RiceAndSushi She said in the vid that she used a darker tone than what she usually do ^^ just for the video.

  • I can't wait to try this on top of a finished look. OMGosh

  • yep contour nose is for photos not for day 2day i like dat loL

  • I kind of have a random question for anyone that might know... I have really fair skin and whenever I contour with brownish colors it looks really weird, no matter how light they are. What would be a better, I guess color or shade to use on fair skin? I've been thinking about maybe using a blush that's too dark or whatever because I've seen that before... Help a girl out? :)

  • @InevitableLost if you have powder foundation you could start with that, just go a little heavier with it or even use a slightly darker shade than your skin colour. or are you sure you look funny? cause you may not be use to it so you think it looks funny but it actually doesnt?.. hope that helps :D

  • @x0xKirei I like the slightly darker foundation idea! Because for some reason the powder contouring stuff just doesnt work... And yea I'm sure haha. My dad thought I had stuff on my face the first time I wore it! :P :)

  • @InevitableLost I am very fair myself. I only use browns on my eyes or lips. Usually for my cheeks I use a light pink/rose-ish tone. One that has specks of gold works very well too.

  • @InevitableLost I have fair skin also and i use a pale pink, it really lightens up the face and it's not too harsh on the face either :) hope this helped :D <3

  • This tutorial was so helpful!! I was always afraid of blush, but now I'm in love with it! It's a great way to brighten up my face and instantly make me look more awake. When it comes to blush, less is more! but once you get it right, it's wonderful. and also make sure you have the right blush shade for your skin tone.

  • Love this the placement of the blush really helped me blend my contouring, thanks a lot!

  • Thanks for Sharing Your abilities and make-up tips.. It's nice to find videos with meaningful substance.. Worth Taking the time to Watch.

  • I love your tutorials so much! You have given me a ton of inspiration to use all the makeup I have now! I have one question though, what kind of powder are you using at the end on this video?

    Thank you for the advise

    Anna

  • @locoflaco87 You can use the darkest brown and make it work hunny. Use less product, and blend.

  • @MunchieCrunchie4E Honestly, I couldn't. The lightest shade in Ben Nye makes me look like a zebra! However, I went to the drugstore and bought a second bottle of foundation (I use the palest one normally, so I bought the second palest). That works, and is easy to blend. Thanks anyway.

  • i want your eye color so bad :'c

  • I'm new to all this contouring stuff and just watched six YouTube tutorials in a row on the subject. This was by far the most practical. I liked that alternative products and bushes were discussed, and I loved it that she makes the distinction between what looks real in photos and film (like contoured noses) and what does not pass the daylight test.

Other things I liked: she is specific about how she is using too much contour product so we can see it. Also, huge honking ass brush

  • wie viel zeit brauchst du morgens für dein make up? o0

  • Your videos are always awesome and super helpful, but I just wanted to say, your nails are so fabulous! I love that color. I was just curious, are those your natural nails or are they acrylics? Not that they don't look natural, I'm just jealous if they are haha. I can't grow out my own nails for shit, they're super frail.

  • whats contour? lolz

  • This is probably a dumb question...is it alright to use a light bronzer for contour?

  • @SharkAttackBaybee If you're going to use a light bronzer, try to make sure it doesn't have a lot of shimmer and is more matte, because a lot of shimmer gives more of a "glowy" look and counteracts the point of contouring! A matte eyeshadow works well for contouring. Hope this helps.

  • @TearfulShadows Thanks.

  • This was so detailed. Thanks for explaining every step so clearly!

  • Should I do all this if I'm sixteen? I just started using blush, but only when I'm going out out. You know? So, should I contour and highlight along with blush??

  • thank you very much for this video .

  • absolutely awesome!

what nail polish r u wearing?

  • I have a port wine stain birthmark on my cheeks, neck and chest.

I want to try the color correcting primer. What application method do you recommend for large areas?

  • ROFLROFLROFL with a huge honkin ass brush :DD that made my day

  • "huge honkin ass brush" :D

  • I love your videos because you explain well, don't waste time talking about unnecessary stuff and give us different options (I can't afford mac all the time). Maybe I have said that already in another video of yours. :P

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. The only problem for me is the under eye circles. I'm never happy with the concealers, even the color correcting ones. :(

  • Hey MissC,

I LOVE your vids and watch you quite frequently. Quick tip. Remember in part 1 where you say you like to wait to set the entire face w/ powder until after all is said and done? well, if you're using powder products to contour, blush, etc., you'll find you will get a MUCH more smooth/less streaky application of powder products if you set your creams before using your powders! Ch ch check it out!!!!

keep up your fun vid's! I wish I had more time! More to come!

  • I have very sensitive skin and I can never get the right foundation. Is Ben Nye good foundation for my face and cover for olive light to medium skin for spanish women?

  • u r rite...some you tube artists do horrible contouring

  • what color r ur nails love them

  • I really think the countouring colour you used is too dark! It's like you are adding extra hair on your face, especially since you are quiet fair.

  • @alessiasp She said in the video, that she's doing it darker, than nshe usually would. just in order for it to show up better on camera an so that people can see, where she put'sthe colour.

  • you contour your cheeks a little too low

  • @melglitter300 don't think so...

  • Easy understand your tutorial.....nice!

  • very very useful.

  • your tutorial is very practical and easy to understand! I also love your expressions! LOL

  • i feel so natural and pretty after doing this! i worship you ! hahaha , im gonna look mad for this party tonight!!!

  • this was very informative! Especially about the mac brushes. The only thing I question is the contouring powder (never heard of it before) it showed up really really dark on the right side of your face. How would you blend that in better?

  • I'm not saying you necessarily need more powder but why wouldn't you put it on before the contouring the the blush so you don't mess it up?

  • @TheDivabeth20

you are soooo gorgeous even without makeup... keep doin what your doin girlie~<3:)

i agree lots of ladies cant spend the money their makeup these days since its so pricey :(

  • i love your videos!!!!

    thank you so much!!

  • "huge honkin ass brush" HAHA i loved it :D

  • Yes, VERY helpful ... thank u!!!

  • thank you soo much, i just ran across these, but these two vids you made were SO helpful!(:

  • wow, you talk a LOT^^ but GRATE vid :D

  • is das braun nicht n bisschen zu dunkel..?

  • can one use a very shimmery bronzer for contouring?

  • Great info - thanks so much for posting all of this!

  • "with a huge honkin-ass brush." hahahaha

  • The cheek contour made her look dirty. :(

  • She's putting a lot more on than she normally would so the it shows up on camera better. She says so right in the video. o.O

  • can I use studio fix from MAC as foundation before I apply my blush and highlighter?

  • machst du diese ganze routine bevor oder nachdem dem makep up aufträgst?????

  • idk why ppl say less is more when your clearly making videos for people who wear makeup lol but anyways . this was a big help . thanks .

  • 2:58 LMAO!!!!!!!

  • I KNOW! HAHAHA

    also 10:08 & 11:14 made me lol

  • i've heard of this thing how you use a bronzer or something and you put it all along your hair line and under your jaw. i think they said it "framed you face". is this a good idea? if so, how is a good way to do it?

  • I missed this tutorial, very good. I was doing few things all wrong ! Thanks !!

  • lol you said honkin ass.

  • The blush brush you used in the video looks ALOT like the one they sell from Coastal Scents!!

  • Coastal Scents and Crown Brushes are the same brushes (same supplier)...Coastal Scents just stamps their names on their brushes. So they are the same brush :)

  • Great video!

  • yes, it was very helpfull :) THanks :)

  • HI, how do you clean your brushes?

I don't know how and I would. Thanks

  • you look really beautiful with less makeup!!! less i more don´t u think???

  • misschievous, I mostly only use foundation, concealer and blush when I go out. But on a day to day basis, I only use powder, just to matify my face.I was wondering, what kind of mac brush I could best use for just applying powder. (I think where I live, mac is the only line of brushes you could recomend me, that I can buy here) And I also wanted to ask, which brand, and line of powder you like best. And also, which MAC powder would you recomend me to use, If I'm using only the powder on my face?

  • MissChievous, thanks for the really clear and informative video.

I'm quite a beginner so I really like the detail and your well-justified opinions.

Watching the video this time round, the comment about matte vs shimmery blushes helped. I bought a shimmery blush a while back, when I hadn't really started to think about the matte vs shimmery distinction, and was beginning somehow to feel it wasn't right, that with eyeshadow it looked too 'heavy'. I guess I'll be buying a matte blush soon...!

  • Really helpful! I'm going to this big galla, kind of like a prom, and have never been able to really put on a good make-up foundation, but THIS really helped :D Thank you!

  • GO JULIA!! AWESOME VIDEOS

  • very helpful thanks so much!! im just a beginner at this whole look good make up thing lol so thanks so much!!

  • would you say its better to buy expensive makeup rather than the normal (drugstore) makeup, like does it help your skin??

because i usually dont spend that much on makeup, im i doing wrong for my skin?

  • no, im pretty experianced with makeup too. Ben Nye is a really good brand but for foundation and stuff like that you can use drugstore brand. they work really well too.

  • thanks

  • very helpful!!!

  • Thank you Julia!

    <3

  • amazing thanks you sooo much

  • I just watched both these videos. You had a lot of great tips and though I knew most of this already, you kept me captivated and entertained the whole way. I love the idea of putting liquid foundation that comes in a pour-bottle into one with a pump! What a great idea....I need to find a pump bottle now, lol. Great video Julia, Keep up the great work!

  • with a huge honkin ass brush hahahahaah

  • I was about to leave the same Comment. LOL.. Huge Honkin ass Brush.. lol

  • @MissxRae21 i lol'd at that part :)

  • your videos are great :)

  • Your sooooo right. i contoured my nose for school and i looked like an idiot...

works very well in pictures though!

thanks for the helpful video <3

  • Thanks to your recommendation, I have finally found a concelaler that works for me. Belive me, I have tried them all, you name it and I probably have it! That Ben Nye wheel is my dream come true!!! It does it all for me! It covers my dark circles, illuminates me AND it doesn't crack on me making my under eye area look dry and tired and old. I'm in love!

I also got the contour powder and the setting powder, among other products, and I'm loving them all... Thanks so much Julia! You rock!!

  • Where did you get the colour where ?

  • I've never considered contouring before. I'll have to try it!

What was the name of the contouring product though?

  • again another great tut..thanx for the tip on the contouring the nose....didn't even think about it not looking natural on a normal day bases..lol!

  • Thank you. I love this vidio.

  • whats a good face primer under 20 bucks!!

Please someone reply to me i cant find video the has good face primers

  • Smashbox have a good primer, the full size primer is $36 though, but you can get the travel sized primer for $16 :D

  • rimmel has a good one :) its $5

  • I haven't purchased it, but I hear the Quo face primer is good, and you can get it at Shoppers (if you live in Canada) for under $20

  • haha, you said "a big, honkin' ass brush". Love the video!!

  • Can you recommend another contour powder?

  • thank you miss!

  • thank you so much.. this was very very helpful

  • Great tips. Thanks!

  • when applying a liquid foundation do you have to put a powder on top if using a powder bronzer/countour or blush. becuase when i tend to apply my liquid foundation without powder then i try to countour it becomes un even, streaky and just plain blochy. what do you think i am doing wrong? please help

  • I put a translucent loose powder on right after my foundation to set the foundation. Then next the bronzer or contouring powder. Anything made into a powder can streak on top of liquid or cream foundation.

  • The liquid foundation isn't drying. Some don't. Some are designed to remain moist. Maybe an oil-free foundation might help.

I usually apply my blush after applying face powder since my makeup appears to melt otherwise. But I have somewhat oily skin too.

  • I thought you were supposed to apply powder right after foundation and then on top of that do the blush and all that stuff

  • doesn't putting foundation/powder on your oily areas make it oilier and clog your pores more than without the powder/foundation? :S i'm only curious

  • Ive watched a lot of your videos, and I think the pictures u post at the beginning of this videop is the prettiest u look out of all of them..nice and natural looking...very pretty!

  • If i have a big nose is it still a good idea to highlight it?

  • teehee honkin' ass brush. :P

  • I laughed at that too hahaha

  • which powder did you use in the end? my face gets oily as well and Id like to try the powder to see if it will decrease the visibility of the oilyness

  • im a newbie to makeup. i was wondering: do you have to contour?

  • No, it's optional.

  • Your videos have helped me so much with my make up !

    Thank you !

and keep making amazing videos !

  • You're a treasure! Thanks for the videos. Keep up the artwork!

  • i know alot have asked you this, but what's the color of your nails and which brand? it's such a pretty color

  • ok, just saw that on your fauxhawk vid you listed your nail polish,

Nivea Beaute - Nr. 97 Berry Gloss

  • iam medium toned and i want to experiment with different color blush but not sure when to use a certain color ex when to use a pink blush or peach color...

  • this was VERY HELPFUL!!

    Thank - You =)

  • I've always been so bad with make-up, but with these videos i've learned a lot and have gotten so much more confident with trying something new.

    Keep the tutorials coming...they're awesome!

  • A huge honkin ass brush. lol my thoughts exactly

  • wow that was the best face makeup application out of all the youtube tutorials!!!!

you really know what to do!

  • I have a round face and never know where to place my blush... some say to just put it on the apples, others say to keep it to the back part of the face, etc. Where should it go on a round face? You are soooooooooooooooooooooooooo great!

  • if you have round face, you should put it on the side like where she put it on in this video and not on the center of the apples b/c that will make your face rounder.

  • i know you werent addressing me but i wanted to reply to your comment:

i have a rounder face, and i usually put mine on the apples of my cheeks, BUT i think as lonng as you know what youre doing, you could pull off anything! :)

  • Oh, that's OK, thanks for the reply!

Oy, that's the problem, I'm never quite sure I know exactly what I'm doing! I do it all different ways but I'm never 100% happy.

  • youre welcome! im sure there are lots of other videos here on youtube that can help you! or just find a guru with a round face and see if they have a face makeup video.

  • Voce é muito linda! E suas makes são sucesso!! (traduzindo... ah usando o tradutor on line do google )

You are very beautiful! And his success makes are! (.. ah traduzindo. using online google translator)

  • Thank you!! I can easily say that this is the best flawless face video! :)

  • ur very cool madam. i bet u learned this stuff from ur mom!

  • Thank you so much!

  • huge honkin-ass brush!!lol u r sooo cute !

  • That made me laugh too!

  • me too!

  • you are attractive without make up

  • You are very good at putting on makeup.

  • You are Wesome. Learned alot

  • ur great but u dont get to the point straight away..

  • This is GREAT!!!

  • Interesting about the 'big ol' powder brush...I don't use one either. I have dry skin and I found that if I used a powder brush to set my makeup, I would develop patchy areas. Funny, but the best powder tool for me is an old fashioned 'powder puff'. It comes in my Besame Loose Powder container and I just carefully blot over my concealer etc to set where I need it. :)

  • Very helpful. Thank you so much for sharing all your make up tips.

  • wow i learned soo much!!! thanks a million! love your vids girl, ur gorgioussss :)

  • i looooooooooooooooooooooooooveeeeeeeeeeeeee yhis video the best

it is the most usefull one because it is for whenever where ever

but of course all yer other videos are amazing also

    yu are amazing

    thank yu!

  • "a huge honkinass brush" LMFAO

I love this tut. (: thanks for making it!

  • Great vid, thanks for sharing your tips ;0)

  • LMAO at the comment about the "huge honkin' ass brush"

  • I must say that these 2 videos are amongst the best mu application tuts I have ever seen.

I'm going to experiment w/ 'not' applying blush right to the hairline & just grazing the apples of the cheeks.

For sure, it's going to take considerable time & practice before I even know what my application preferences are & before I perfect my application techniques. These tuts have significantly advanced my understanding.

A big, heartfelt "THANK YOU," MissChievous!

  • lol that cursing part made my day

  • I think that's the first time you've cussed in a video.. I like it. hahaha.

But I'm very excited to try and use these tips for when I apply foundation and all, because I just go so frustrated whenever I tried to use foundation because it just looked cakey and dry and really obvious. Thank you! :D

  • Oooh, great vid. What is your nail color? I looked for it in the info box but you kept us in suspense this time! Gorgeous color!

  • Bronzers usually contains shimmer to give your face a Illuminous glow, and it makes your areas pop. You usually put shimmer onto places that you want to pop as they reflect to lightning. So why put shimmer where you want to create shadows? Here the contour shadow comes in. It's matte and dark, mattes doesn't reflect lightning, so it creates shadows in the hollows to define areas. I don't use contouring to define areas, I make others pop instead cause it's just a personal preference :3
