  • When she fought Snape I was expecting her to put on shades and carry a huge Bazooka. Maggie Smith is badass!! =D

  • @Lunabeam1 See, but that's the thing--Maggie Smith is so awesome that she doesn't need shades or a bazooka ;)

  • second famous to "you wish"

  • As much as I love this scene, she should've hugged him. During the scene in the Great Hall after Snape's death, when Harry was looking so helpless, McGonagall looked like she wanted nothing more than to give him a hug.

  • @DataLady09 I think at the time though, it wouldn't have been appropriate. They were trying to plan and strategize and there just wasn't time for being mushy. But you're right, you could tell she wanted to.

What makes me angry is that the line "NO!" McGonagall yells in the book, after Hagrid brings Harry back, is given to Ginny in the movie. I think that was a very significant line for McGonagall's character and they shouldn't have taken it away.

  • @24fans4life I know; that really ticked me off! If they had let Maggie say it, it would've meant so much more to the scene, and to McGonagall's character. But more than anything, I wish they had put the celebration in the film after Voldemort was killed - then McGonagall could have hugged Harry! :D

  • @DataLady09 I 100% agree with you. I'm really sad that a lot of her part was cut out in the 2nd movie. I know that some of it was time constraints and such but at the same time, it also cut back from letting her character shine as it was written.

  • @24fans4life From the third movie on, her part was reduced to little more than a cameo in the rest of the movies. McGonagall was such an important character, and she - and Maggie - deserved more time than they gave her. That's one reason why I like the first two films the best - she was given so much more time on screen; God bless Chris Columbus.

  • @DataLady09 Yeah in the first two movies her part is significant enough but its only in the later ones that it really becomes even more important and thats when they cut back on her. The 5th one and the last, especially. McGonagall has always been my favorite HP character and i wish Rowling had pushed a lot harder for her character's part in the later movies.

  • @DataLady09 Maybe it is just me, but I always thought they make a cute couple in the world of fanfiction...

  • @24fans4life I agree, too. I mean, seriously. That was one of the most significant things ever... I'm grateful for the lines "It's good to see you" and the meaning of her pushing Harry aside to get meow on Snape herself instead, but still... Ugh.

  • I love maggie, she looks brilliant :)

  • <3

  • <3 love that line :)
