  • he may be up n age but i bet he and the other guys can still hurt someone badly

  • I think some people misunderstand Dan Inosanto's comments about being the only one Bruce certified to teach JKD. That doesn't mean he's the only one Bruce ever certified to teach anything. It's all in Jesse's excellent biography of Bruce.

  • Jesse has a brother, Michael Lee and a student of Jesse. I Posted video of Michael Lee from 1978 when I was a student. You can see all the similarities of the two.

  • @petosa1007

where can i see your video of Mike Lee?

    thanks

    Jeff

  • @petosa1007 Are you a student of Michael Lee or Jesse Glover. Who do you think is better at fighting and who is better at teaching ? Will appreciate your opinion. Thx

  • NCGF has always be true to what Bruce Lee taught. Mr. Jesse Glover is a great teacher and very nice man. This video is about him, not about your jkd politics. So stop talking about you know who and show some respect to Bruce Lee's first student who was there when the jkd torch was lit and who has been carrying it ever since. Jesse Glover is the real deal and I'd pay to learn from him anytime I could. You don't see ncgf using knives and sticks or adding more arts to the mix for the sake of it.

  • @Wolfgath again and again you have not done your resurch If you type in Jesse Glover in google and click on Jesse Glover - Bruce Lee : The Divine Wind one the first page you will see that HE himself says "I am not a JKD guy so I cannot comment on JKD" If you do not believe me read your self. oh by the way I am not disrespecting Bruce Lee I am disrespecting Linda Lee because she deserves disrespect for what she did to Inosanto

  • @1fightforright23 what did she do to dan?

  • @wizeguy26 She sued dan Inosanto some time ago.

  • @1fightforright23 i googled and was that somethng to do with his school or a logo name being used? youd htink hed be the last guy shed take to court with all the countless so called jkd experts out there smh

  • @Wolfgath However I respect Jesse Glover becaues he is very honest and would like to meet him even though my sifu thinks his shit.

  • @Wolfgath Do me a favour watch these clips I cannot put the linkes on here but I have collected links that will prove how wrong you are you simpleton

  • @Wolfgath oh I forgot another thing I did not say that Bruce lee invented three styles. Everybody knows that Bruce did not invent 3 styles again you talk more bullshit get a good teacher then get back to me!

  • @Wolfgath oh yeah another thing in the book Bruce lee artis of life in bruce lees own words on pages 125 " To set the record straight, I have NOT invented a new style, composite, modified, or otherwise; that is, set within distinct form and laws as apart from "this" style. Jeet Kune do is not a form of special conditioning.....

  • @Wolfgath "So far I have only three assistants teaching for me when I cannot personally be there. Taky Kimura, a friend and quality assistant (and most capable pupil/teacher) for over ten years, teaches occasionally in Seattle. James Lee. An ex-gung fu instructor, closed his school and has a club in Oakland, and Dan Inosanto teaches as a hobby here in his home in southern California"

  • @Wolfgath If you read Jeet Kune Do Bruce Lee’s commentaries on the martial way page 51- 52 you will find that Bruce lee in his own words says

  • Comment removed

  • @1fightforright23 -Your disrespect of Bruce Lee's wife is a clear indication you have no honour or respect for the very man who created Jeet Kune Do- Bruce Lee, NOT Dan Inosanto. You are the one with a full cup- of bullshit. You've been brainwashed by "the classical mess" and lash out at anyone who challenges your sad and deluded beliefs. I would rather fight the WAY Lee taught- and not learn everything else under the sun Bruce had already discared as mostly useless in real fighting enviroment.

  • @Wolfgath obviously you have not read all of my past comments your trying to say that kali is useless Do your self a favour read Jeet Kune Do by paul Vunak then you will truly understand what JKD IS. for your information Dan inosanto is teaching it the way Bruce lee taught it. If you do not believe me watch his interviews on the internet!!

  • @1fightforright23 To paint a picture an artist needs tools; these tools are paintbrush, pallet, pallet knife, Linseed oil, water and turpentine. When one chooses the JKD path he is the paintbrush, the pallet, the pallet knife, the Linseed oil, water and turpentine. You are all these tools combined. YOU the individual are the creator in your own individual right towards your no style

  • @Wolfgath think of it this way to make the light clear if this does not empty your cup then nothing will!

Jeet Kune Do is the art of self-expression, a way of thinking, a philosophy, freedom, growth, a creative process, a tool, a path to total individuality. JKD enables you to go beyond style.

As an artist I think of Jeet Kune Do this way. Colours are made up of primary, secondary and treachery colours.

  • @Wolfgath Jun Fun Gung fu fighting system represents the primary colours the basis that we expand from, other styles of fighting are single colours. If you start to mix other colours with the primary colours you make more colours, more moves and techniques will be available as you explore your knowledge and self. Your body is a blank canvas; you must paint your picture. But it depends on situation what picture or emotion you show

  • @Wolfgath A fist does not necessarily mean a fist; the fist represents the object in the way of your goal, to get to your goal one flows around the object, problem, or obstacle in the way.

How do you intercept your fist answer that and you have truly understood JKD

  • @Wolfgath he did not create JKD he learnt it from Zen and taoism if you read the Tao of JKD he clearly recomends Zen and taoist cultivation.

  • Oh what else did you say ‘concept yes, actual fighting method not so much! ’LOL Dan inosanto has taught Navy seals, special forces, CIA etc if his fighting method in not an actual fighting method why has he been chosen by top warriors of the world to teach them what he knows? Who has Ted wong and Tommy Carrathers taught?

  • Again you talk bullshit! Stole the concept? Go fuck yourself! He merely carried on adding and subtracting to the basis that was given to him Jun fun Gung fu! This is the basis! JKD and Jun fun Gung Fu are two separate things. If Jun Fun Gung fu and JKD is the same thing then why was Dan given three separate certificates? One for Chinese Gung Fu, one for Jun fun Gung Fu, and one for JKD.

  • @Wolfgath oh here you are hiding like a little pussy right I can now finish the argument that we started fully I have had trouble replying to you on your channel.

now that I have found you you are mine!

  • I have trained with Jesse. He signed my black belt certificate. Jesse right now in 2010 is still one of the most effective martial artists in the world. Back when this video was shot, Jesse was unbelievably strong. He is also one of the greatest human beings I have ever met.

  • Comment removed

  • I can tell from watching this, this guy has power. He is not someone u would want to hit u.

  • Notice the constant heavy pressure while sticking.

  • I've trained with Jesse and hopefully will have the pleasure of training with him again in Nov at a London seminar exclusively at my school.... Let me tell you jesse is no Joke he is a ver very good Fighter and it takes a few men to stop him... Ive touched hands with the man Im 30 and hes had me on the floor... God bless Jesse

  • Holy smoke Jesse is fast. AND strong. I had no idea.

It's like watching George Forman with with Wing Chun abilities.

  • No matter what my grandpa is the best!

  • I've viewed some recent seminar footage featuring Jesse Glover and for a man in his 70's, he is in very good physical condition. His hand speed is still impressive and in his prime, he was a world class martial artist. During the Seattle Era, many of Bruce Lee's students felt that Jesse Glover was the best student of that time period. The late Skip Ellsworth stated in an interview that he was in awe of Glover's abilities. It's important to note that Glover was also a champion judoka.

  • I like the "old-school" improvised training equipment in the beginning of the clip - they're using a baseball mitt as a focus pad!

  • It's just you.

  • Nah, that mother fucker has been burning them down for years.

  • @Godsmasher22 As far back as I can remember Jesse has had a deep, laconic way of talking. He just always reminded me of a cool, mellow cat (as Sammy Davis would say). I'm not sure what you were trying to say with the belly comment.

  • I just found out who Jesse Glover is! You want to know what's funny? He's been my next door neighbor for the past 2 Years! he's literally 2 doors down from me!

  • GOOD STUFF!!

  • a legend and great man!!!

  • definitely a legend!!! a great man

  • you spelled inosanto's name wrong "insanto". And he just teaches kali.

  • wrong! dan taught bruce. he was parkers top guy and lee took him for knowledge.

  • Complete and utter bullshit!

  • IDIOT! Dan was Bruce's student! Go do your research first ok!

  • lol

  • Danny teaches, learns, and practices a lot of things these days.

  • Inosanto teaches more than just kali. He teaches Jun Fan Gung Fu too as well as other things.

  • Comment removed

  • And Jun Fan.

  • @purefirestone That is absolute rubish he does not only teach kali, he teaches Jun Fun Gung fu, Silat, JKD as well. He is the only person who was athorised by Bruce Lee to teach. Do me a favore watch Ron Balickis DVDs then get back to me.

  • This guy right here was secretly Bruce's Lee's best student...I was personally told this by James W Demile...He told me that Jessie would have Bruce backing up...Jessie Glover has probably made the least amount of money of all Bruce's former students...I would be honored to have studed under this fella or should i say like Jessie would..."THAT CAT"...Glover is a living legend and he should be treated that way.

  • I'm happy to see that he's getting his recognition...and to hear that Demile is spreading the word. One thing to consider is that Jesse wasn't "secretly" anything. He WAS Lee's first student. No question. Let's hope we can start funneling more money his way. At least create a situation that allows him to stay here in Seattle and not have to travel to Europe to earn a living.

  • Jesse is a really good guy and deserves recognition. Met him several times through Kelly Worden and the Water and Steel camps.

  • Jesse has many friends in Europe and enjoys traveling. Jesse does not seek fortune or fame.

  • I have no doubt about that. But having his friends come to him to train when he gets older (perhaps much later in life) would be a nice option. And I hardly think him having a nice nest egg for his retirement is seeking a "fortune." I say this only because when Ed Hart passed away he was constantly plagued with money worries, when he should've been able to just kick back, relax, and have a blast just teaching.

  • Jesse Glover was never "secretly" Bruce Lee's first student. Everyone knew he was Bruce Lee's first student. He just never sought out the limelight and was always pretty low key.

  • Im going to his seminar this sunday!! =D

  • going next sat/sun to his semi

  • Where ?

  • Really? Please let me know about your experiences there.

  • Alot of people are making money off of Bruce lee's name but, Jesse is not one of them. As far as Jesse not being any good? hahaha! You are a joke.

  • Ok. ...and you are not sexy.

  • Sweet! Ive met and trained a little with Jesse at Kelly Worden's camps.

  • I ve trained with Jesse and he truly knows how to fight :)

  • From a non-jeetkundo perspective, I agree from the "traditionalist" perspective. Anyway, whoever doesn't drill and spar, looses.

  • Further Jazzman...You feel that a Japanese Sumo put on a football field would get killed? I disagree. If he practiced the game a few weeks,I bet a Sumo would make a great lineman or even a fullback. Sumo's are powerful, especially at pushing, slamming and throwing people, exactly what linemen do. Some linemen could better their own performance on the line by LEARNING from a Sumo. Don't say a Sumo couldn't run with the ball because of poor cardio, they don't train to run from people..but to fight.

  • Jazzman1930, don't be so ignorant. Some individuals have slow metabolisms and enjoy dining. However, don't equate that as a lack of fighting ability. That's foolish. Sammo Hung was once asked how can he fight and do MA being so out of shape. His reply, "I'm not out of shape, I'm just fat". True. He can fight. You say he is a stuntman, actor? So he can't fight then? So because Sugar Ray Leonard is a fighter he can't make a cup of tea? >because he's not a professional "cup of tea maker"???? Think.

  • well I think that being fat has very little to do with it. he still very very fast. I'm pretty sure you can't punch that fast! you have alot to learn...

  • yeah i can relate to that, i train hard, but i love to eat and i have a slow metabolism.

  • why is all these guys fat? terrible! Ive never seen a fat tennis player. shit now days most bowlers are in shape.

  • Being fat has nothing to do with fighting skill. Sammo Hung is a "big" guy and he can move. Also Sumos are some of the best athletes in the world.

  • Actually it does have plenty to do with it. If it didn't you would see far more fat ass athletes. Football players are over weight, often unhealthily so as are sumos. They may be mega strong, but can only exert themselves for brief bursts. Hence all the changing out in foot ball. Jesse knows a great deal about Jun Fan, no question. But your statement is just a bit off.

  • @Godsmasher22

     Jesse doesn't do Jun Fan.

  • @sifupr It does allow for too much room for "fake" martial artists to be out of shape and claim to be grand masters. but I agree with jazzman that we martial artists need to step up and represent and I agree with sifupr that weight sometimes SOMETIMES has no bearing on the fighting ability

  • @sifupr however Jesse Glover was old then and now so cut him some slack there are no 50 year old tennis players

  • @unjedi007 I never said anything negative about Jesse. I was the one who posted the clip.

  • You do realize he's pretty old. Metabolisms tend to slow down with age.

  • What should we conclude about your ability to think, based on your inability to write?

  • @jazzman1930 Jesse might be large but I swear he'd knock either me or you out quick. (besides he's in good shape here. I'd argue he's in better shape at this time than George Forman when he came out of retirement.)

  • awsome, realistic stuff

  • sounds like your fat. samo is not a fighter, hes a stuntman, actor , and 1 in a million.put a sumo on a football field and he will get killed. too slow.

  • You've never watched sumo, have you. A rikishi would slap the taste right out of your mouth.

  • great video thanks for sharring...

  • he is bruce lees first student.they met in seattle washington where they both were attending a college i think.and jesse one day asked him if he was bruce lee and bruce said yes then he asked about kung fu and if bruce could teach him, bruce said yes. That is how it all began what you are seeing there is alot of what bruce taught him.amazing stuff even though its short.

  • i dont know who Jesse Glover is, care to give a bit of a bio?

  • Try and find Jesse's book on Lee. It's very informative.
