I have a theory about why most victims were lying face down. We know that the first to die were the children. At one point in the tape Jones is heard saying that it's ok for parents to lie with their children, (he even called it "humane!!!") This leads me to believe that up to that point, someone else or more than one person were laying the children down alone as they died. The parents and others just followed suit and went face down as the kids were. Any ideas on this? I enjoy the debate.

During the beginning of his "reign" he was probably much more charismatic in order to gain the following that he had right before the massacre.

Keep in mind that this wasn't when he was beginning. By this time, he's grown extremely paranoid of the US. However, before all the paranoia stuck in, his rhetoric was rather powerful. The people stuck with him mostly because of the earlier influence that he had over them, and he managed to keep that influence later on even if his rhetoric wasn't as powerful.

I never really knew anything about this I thought it was just a bunch of nutters who committed mass suicide , turns out the majority of them were manipulated and tricked by jones and the mass death was forced on them if they want it or not.
