@RetroGameTech Yeah, I hate it how people call scottish british, and I don't know anyone thats Posh, except america! They complain: We are too posh, but then they look at themselfs. They are either drinking bastards or twats that think Cod is real.
@deepcovergecko not always they are crashing sometimes and if you are not using a game for long time files are corrupted and game freezes same thing is with NDS cartriges thats wky im buying original ones
I bought Sonic Battle for GBA online and I didnt play it for a while because I was playing a different game. So when I got to Sonic I was looking at the catridge and the sticker on it is too big for the game and the official Nintendo seal is in a different spot than all my other games. I started playing it and it plays exactly how Sonic Battles should play, but the one wrong thing about it is the game won't save!
@TheAxle149 make sure you look up how to! =O Look up "Changing a Battery in an Old GameBoy Game Cartridge" on youtube its a really good video that shows how to do it well! He's just missing the flux before soldering but you can get all that soldering iron onto electronics in other youtube videos! =D
Wear protective glasses just in case if you get heat right on the battery is can pop! Oh oh and look up which kinda batteries are used in the GBA games! Good luck! Make a video of it! :D
If you're buying these on eBay, the main way to avoid getting stung is the artwork on the cart. I've *never* seen a GBA game where the artwork on the cart is the same as that on the box, yet fake versions are almost always just cropped images of the box art.
If the seller just has a stock photo (taken from the internet and not their own camera) leave it, as it's not worth the risk.
The other thing about fake carts is they lack the EEPROM of the real ones, so save features die in weeks/months.
I knew that people were making fake games for these cartridge games (Pokemon Diamond for the Gameboy Color anyone?) However I've never seen an actual fake cartridge. I usually bought my games from retailers like Wal-Mart and EB-Games (now GameStop), new and only new.
Some ROMs that you can download online have a screen like that, put there by the person who ripped it to advertise themselves. Who ever made that fake just got the ROM online and put it onto a blank chip. Seriously, they used the least amount of effort possible to make that.
I once saw a picture of a fake W.I.T.C.H GBA cart on the net, the label design of which mimicks the Authentic US label design. That fake cart's label looked real, the cartridge itself looked real, but how could the person exposing the cartridge tell it was fake? The game in question, W.I.T.C.H was never released in the US! There were plans to release it in the US, but those were called off, rendering said game Europe only.
no this is nba cartridge is not fake you can make a nba games with system card! i have make a nba games it's works! but my gameboy advance sp is have a games of nba games with no nba games cartridge!
Nice video, about half a year ago I ended up with a bootleg Final Fantasy VI from ebay which was a pisser as it's a rare game and goes for a lot even loose. I got a full refund when I bitched at the seller but he wanted the game back so he probably sold it on to another poor buyer. :(
Also wanted to say it's cool to see a gaming channel with a local accent, not enough of us scots on here :p
I think the easiest way to confirm if a GBA game is original or a bootleg is to check the board, near the connectors, it should have a Nintendo marking on it.If it doesn't, it's fake. Didn't see any fake ones with the logo on the board.
I bought 4 GBA games from one seller on Ebay (top gear,Jungle book,Fantastic 4, & Shrek 2) They ALL turned out to be fake!,The build quality is awful the boxes were not stuck together & cheaply made, there were no manuals or any card inserts & just did not feel right. The seller told me "oh I had no idea they are fake,I bought them on holiday in "wherever" Blah Blah Blah" Yeah right, they were either blind, Stupid or just plain lying. Its so obvious they are fake! the games are worthless to me.
I have a fake Zelda a Link to the Past, the cartridge was of good build quality, but it had a logo nlntondo, did not have the boot screen, and the cartridge sat higher than the official ones
it was cheap because it looks like somebody tinkered with it (or tried to). On the underside of the gameboy in the gameslot area there is a missing screw
I just bought a fake Final Fantasy 6 from Gamestop and this video showed me what to do to make sure the game was real. Thanks RetroGameTech, you saved me 21 dollars!
Cart Bootlegs are way more common than CD based games. Cart boots are very common because you dont notice they are bootlegs most of the time unless you open them up. This one is a terrible fake but most arent even noticable until you open them.
All the GBA games in my country have these fake game cartridges (The silver ones), they are sold only in 5 JDs, 5 JDs is like 7 or 8 Dollars. You will not find many original ones.
Also, I only see that they sometimes erase the save automatically, and sometimes they even freeze when loading!
That game came from a cracked rom and put into a cartdrideg a lot of roms are cracked by developung teams and do different things varying on each developer
I have one genuine and seven fake ones... Got them all with original GBA I bought for like 20 bucks :)
In most of these carts the game stored in EPROM or Flash memory IC, that can be reprogrammed more than one time. I wonder if there's any way to reprogram such cart with GBA connected to PC with a link cable...
i have a fake one, and in the back doesnt say Nintendo, it say NIntondo and the front the D os Advance is bigger than the rest of the letters, the sticker is a quite little, but the thing has surprised me is that the game i have buyed in an offical store, it was my first game and was fake T.T
i was i kid when i asked my my to buy me "Tekken Advanced" for my GBA SP (she was on abroad) then she sent it and i saw the box.... it says "Tekken 5" and i was like "is ther even a Tekken 5 for GBA SP?" and i played it and its some fighting game with GBC graphics!!!!!
thanks so much for uploading. i just found out my copy of super mario bros. 3 (which i've had for 2 yrs.) is a damn fake ;_; wont be making anymore game purchases from amazon.
Haha Did you use Garageband to make the background music? Also I used to live in Indonesia and ALL the games they sell in retail shops happen to be illegal copies...
i bought a fake zelda minish cap and it worked really good but it didnt fit in my gba as it was supposed to and it had all the description of a fake so i contacted the seller and told him plain n simple that it was fake and he quickly gave me a refund and i asked him what address do i ship it back 2 and he told me to send it back to garbage123...O_O
Yeah, I bought a firered game off of ebay. I didn't know about this before then. After 3 months of waiting for it, I reported the guy and I got my money back. It EVENTUALLY came and it turned out to be a bootleg. The thing is, the cartridge plastic is pretty good quality (almost equal to the official cartridges) and it came with a bootleg box/manual.
A question: How can I tell the real thing on ebay?
First fake game I bought was for the NES. It was a black cart with a HUGE amount of ROM. The cart had no sticker, was completely black, and contained 250 games. And these were ACTUAL NES games on the cart.
i have 2 fakes... one got stuck in my sp and i needed pliers to get it out and the other one seperated into two halves cause it was so badly put together
Also. Your not alone!!! I still play my SP everyday. One of my favorite handhelds, can play the classics as well as the GBA games. But thx for this video...now ik how to tell...
jesus, 5 dollars for an sp...u know how much a shitty original white gba cost me? around 140 dollars. that was in mid 2000 but still, i think the ten year/135 dollar saving was probably worth it.
Everybody I know peels off the Gameboy sticker.

I have a fake leaf green but it works fine, and it doesnt have a boot screen/intro movie like your game does. weird.

jesus, 5 dollars for an sp...u know how much a shitty original white gba cost me? around 140 dollars. that was in mid 2000 but still, i think the ten year/135 dollar saving was probably worth it.
plus the stupid thing had no backlight.
