To say that Thelma Drake ran from this question is simply untrue. She gave an answer that you didn't like. The title of the video simply is not accurate.
Drake the Snake is a big fat fake! Republicans are supposed to stand for FREE MARKET CAPITALISM. Is giving millions in taxpayer dollars free market Capitalism? Hardly! I should run against her.
You people need to learn what people in government actually have to do:
Answer your stupid questions thousands of times.
I don't blame her, and if you do, you should try doing her job, but I wouldn't want you to because you obviously don't have the first clue about how government is run.
So to everyone that wants things different, vote.
If your candidate lost, suck it up and request change, but don't badger the people in office doing their job.
Drake is a Republican that DRAFTED the military commissions act (and completely dodges questions about it), voted FOR the patriot act, and generally has turned her back on all sorts of Republican principles. She's a snake, and if you're a Republican voter in VA Cong. Dist. 2, Don't vote for her! Stay home on election day.
Thelma drake is a mouthpiece for the party...she has blood on her hands! Did she say she was going to base her reply on the facts??? Since when has her party depended on facts before they reply?
Call GOP contributor and war contractor General Electric Corporation at 203 373 2211 and ask for the public relations department. Tell the person in public relations that you want the GE CEO to get Bush to end the war in Iraq and then Bush resign with Cheney and until that happens you will not buy any GE products and that you will tell your friends about this.
The economic sectors in Iraq include the agricultural, infrastructure, banking and energy. Iraq has the manpower, access to foreign capital and natural resources to create a flourishing business environment. What's evolving is a workable tax system, an organized legal and regulatory framework, a reformed, transparent banking sector and adequately paid bureaucracy. What's hindering development is the emboldening rhetoric coming from the American Democrats in support of Iran and Al Qaeda.
HAHAHAHA! Why don't you go invest your retirement plan in Iraq? And BTW, it's a proven fact, Al Qaeda wasn't in Iraq until we overthrew its legal government.
It just amazes me how SHE can't have an opinion on the war. She has to wait for someone else to tell her how SHE feels about it??? That's disgraceful!
Well please, McCain was asked what his position on abortion was, after like a full minute of pondering he said I'm sure I have a position on this, let me check with my office and get back to you. He was serious. Wow. im ean wow.
Haha! We were taught in our public relations classes that if a person in the public eye is being asked a question that they don't know the answer to, that they are supposed to say, "I don't know the answer to that right now, but let me check my sources and I will have my office get back to you on that one." Funny thing is, this woman said pretty much the same thing, but she didn't even get a number or anything to get back to this person. Doubt she ever will.
You should actually research things BEFORE coming to a conclusion. That's what Thelma Drake was saying. It's not about her opinion, it's about the FACTS!
While the Iraq war is and was a mistake, Drake is absolutely right about federal government vs. state/local government and the role of both. It's not the role of the federal government to provide for state and local police departments, fire departments, schools, etc. or funding for such.
Funny thing though. WHen Bush made his tax cuts I saved approximately $300. WHen my homestead rebate came it was $300 less than usual. They said the reduction was due to federal cuts. Federal money to police fire and rescue have also been cut. This translates directly into higher state and municipal taxes.
There should be no federal money to state and local police, fire and rescue. Show me in the Constitution where the federal government is authorized to fund such things.
Yea well show me in the constitution what part of the 3 branches of govt Chenye is in if he's not in the executive branch. Show me in the constitution where the president has the authority to ignore law at will or make law. Nevertheless, there are alot of things not in the constitution like Homeland Security. I guess you are for higher municipal taxes, and agaisnt the police, fire and rescue, especially in poor areas.
I agree completely about that the Bush Admin. is wrong about Cheney, that the President cannot ignore or make laws and I also agree that federal "Homeland Security" is not in the Constitution (it also happens to be a very stupid idea). Wrong is wrong. Unconstitutional is Unconstitutional. I don't make exceptions on any level.
If the state & local government must raise taxes to pay for police, etc. than that's what they have to do. Of course if the federal government is no longer paying the tab, and paying for so many other Unconstitutional things, than federal taxes can be lowered to compensate.
Wow. A true federalist. Most conservatives and neocons hide behind federalist rhetoric only when it suits their needs. i didn't think any genuine states rights people were left. OK let me ask this. If there were no federal money rich areas who have alot of money and pay alot of taxes can afford great police yet in poor areas where you need police most of all they won't be able to afford many police officers or much equipment. That's ok with you?
It's not okay with me, but once again federal money is not the solution. That problem needs to be handle at state and local level. People have local politicians and state representatives they can complain to about that and they can fight to fix that problem and change that at local level. There's also a better chance to get results as it's easier to make noise and accomplish things at state and local level than it is at federal level. More people listen.
So, instead of complaining about no federal money, how about complaining about state and local officials not providing essential services to the areas that need them most.
We then return to a Constitutional government & Federalist nation as the Founders intended. I'm not against police, etc. in poor areas, I'm just against the federal government paying for it. That's the job of the state and local government.
