Big emphasis on that INITIALLY re: people's reactions. Things get nutty for a lot of people when they first come out. Your loved ones have known you a long time without knowing this thing that's kind of big in your life, and that's kind of shocking even *without* taking into consideration all the weird social and cultural baggage they may have about it. But in the end, the fact that they've known you longer than they've known this will probably win out. Love > Prejudice, every time. Eventually.

I really like the message of this video as far as it relates to National Coming Out Day and Yay for HP Gay, but honestly you don't need to talk about punishments and Kelly & Julian (like who are they?) on this video at all. I came out last year to my parents. This year I'm partying hardy at my university. I'm going to start going to the LGBTQA meetings and I might go roller skating.
For the first year in my life, i won't be 'in the closet' for national coming out day. instead, i'll be hosting a lunch meeting with my schools gsa. WOO.

I say you watch other people eat it.... And this was a wonderful way to explain Coming Out Day. I've always thought that "hey this is the day when everyone should come out!" is the wrong way to put it.
