Train from Flagstaff to LA is about $90 for reclining seat [economy] and we are ALWAYS a few hours late .... anyone who are complaining about late train in Thailand, try USA train .... much worse in keeping the time. I enjoy Thai train more than the U.S. train!
I've done this trip a few times dont get the top bunk and drink loads of alcohol, getting up numerous times during the night to use the toilet plus u need good balance when standing as the trains feel very unstable in the toilets. Also if u get the non tourist toilet it's even worse. One of mu journeys on the train we had a mini Hitler in charge of our carriage it was awesome fun winding him up all through the night lol.
