Halle Berry is An EXTORDINARY TALENT GODDESS!!! extremely beautiful even when they try to make her look ugly she still beautiful!!...she was over an Oscar for this which pisses me off!! smh
I've seen the film and as a trained actor (MFA '04) I'd say that Halle's technique was on point. There's one scene where she makes the transition from one personality to another while the camera does a slow pan from above her head to a straight on close up and the subtleties of her countenance transform right before your eyes. It was brilliant. For me that was the shot that would garner a nomination. Also the arch of the story was very thorough. Definitely Oscar caliber.
i seen this movie it's good, ppl should see it first then judge because the movie is NOT about sexual truama she was not sexually abused it's something completely different (hint) it has to do with what someone close to her did to her but it wasn't sexual! she truly had multiple personality disorder because of her past. i cant tell you what to do but you should give the movie a chance and then judge.
Call it instinct or gut feeling, but I have the same feeling now that I had back in 2000 when Monster's Ball was released. She's going to win another Oscar, no doubt.
I am sorry hollywood is spreading the disinformation that this woman had multiuple personality disorder. She had dissociative personality disorder apparently brought on by sexual trauma (looking at the trailers). Many people have this problem. You can have it and work, raise a family, and go for years never having to confront it until you begin to act out to a point where you harm yourself or others. I like that she did not overplay the role.It is a more prevalent condition than people know.
Let me get this straight. 'They' are talking Oscar but 'they' were so disinterested in the film that 'they' did not financially back it to begin with twelve, count them, twelve years ago. If she considered the project only for an Oscar, she would have abandoned the project twelve years ago. This was a labor of love and I look forward to it. Nobody thought Slingblade was going anywhere and Thornton got an Oscar for it. It was so cool to see both Berry and Thornton in Monster's Ball.
@UlrichUlrich If you watched the trailer for this movie and this video and can't see CLEARLY that she has a great chance of winning another Oscar, you should shut the fuck up and never comment on the arts again.
I love Halle Barry but Im not buying they had no monies to back this project for 12 yrs esp after she won Oscar . a movie about multiplicity was not marketable, it is now.with new interest in DID with Stephen Spielberg/Diablo Cody hit"United States of Tara" staring Toni Colette. This is a African American Sybil, it has the usual sensationalism thrill , nudity sex appeal bu tl hardly anything "real" even believable, it will get her nominated , playing multiples or victims usually does .
This has to be the worst acting in all of 100 years of cinematic american history. i will not go and give my hard earned money in times of the recession to this below amateur trash!!!!!!!!!!!!
@beyonceLVR1 HOW ABOUT YOU SAVE YOUR $12 FROM THIS HORRIBLE WASTE OF FILM! LOOK, HALLE CANNOT ACT OUT OF HER WAY OUT OF A PAPER BAG. THIS IS CRAP TO THE HIGHEST DEGREE AND I WILL NOT SPEND ANY CASH ON THIS BULLSHIT!

Can't wait to see it!
You don't have to like her acting but it doesn't mean she can't.

True, but Angelina Jolie still has more star power! White actresses always will.

Halle Berry's oscar-win for monster's ball was a fluke.
She will never, and I reapeat, never win a second oscar; she won't even be nominated for one.
