On the contrary, I found his attempt at heavy metal in this one to be the first time Vranch didn't actually do very well on a song, it sounded way too much like ambling buesy rock. Usually he's great ,though.

i dont like sandy so much ,i think she speaks so fast and always push situations on the others so they have to follow her ....she might make people laugh but not so inteligent in creating situations .mike always incredible as always, you should see what dan paterson said when they saw him the first time for audtion of whose line

Lesbians exist, get over it. They're not out to ruin your precious heterosexual marriage. They're not out to molest your children. They're not out to infect the entire world with AIDS. There is no gay agenda.
Now relax, will ya? No need to get all worked up about what some random person does with consenting adults in private. Makes me wonder more about YOU than about her.
god i wish they put this show back on...imagine it with some of the good new american comedians and the newer brit ones like say david mitchell, vic reeves, frankie boyle, etc
He should've been on it much more, but he was always be a bit anarchic on anything he went on. Exhibit A the 2 times we was on HIGNFY. Very funny man though
I like how Clive apparently doesn't know what Heavy Metal is (in another show he thought Jimi Hendrix was a rhythm and blues artist). Do they not call it Heavy Metal in the UK or is Clive just um... not very hip?
Of course he knows what "heavy metal" is. It's Clive bloody Anderson. He was just being a tad sarcastic as usual. And regarding Hendrix being a rhythm and blues guitarist- he was rather spot on actually.Hendrix was never labelled as a "heavy metal" guitarist, he was basically a hard rock guitarist whose music revovlved around blues. He was clearly influenced by guitarists such as Buddy Guy,Muddy Waters,Albert King,Steve Cooper nd other rhythm and blues and soul guitarists which he admitted himself.
This is a great episode with a top one-off appearance by Arthur Smith. Gotta love the Film & Theatre Styles between him and Josie, and of course Mike and Sandi :o)
RICHARD was awesome in that metal song

...I can't be the only person that finds Mike McShane oddly sexy? He has such a sweet face. XDD Even when he's being plungered. XDD

Haha. Josie was cracking up so badly in the background during Sandi and Mike's F&T

A little tidbit about Arthur and Josie - Arthur wrote Josie's opening monologues for her short-lived Channel 4 TV series in 1991.

Josie: You got a cigarette?
Arthur: Yeah, but you're not allowed to smoke on TV.
Also, I like Josie's gangster accent.

@orientalgreenfinch
Arthur was kind of mean to Josie there.

Except Frankie Boyle probably wouldn't work that well - he's just good at doing ironically offensive quips.

And can't improvise, just shoehorns his stand-up into anything he's on

That's basically what Tony Slatterly (sp?) did on the show. I think it's work well now, but with the increasing censorship, may be hindered.

jimi hendrix is not heavy metal, love. ;)
but without him, there would be no genre as such. heavy metal owes a lot to jimi.
