I was thinking about how The Critic would have still been going strong today if had never been canceled. It won't run out of material as long as there are films being made. Whenever I think about a really good or really bad movie made in the last 15 years, I often wonder what kind of parodies or comments Jay Sherman would make about them. And you have to be cold-hearted not to realize Jay is one of the most lovable cartoon characters of all time.

Did you see The Simpsons episode "A Star is Burns"? I know that that aired while The Critic was still on the air and on the same network as The Simpsons. I've heard different rumors about why it got canceled. One was that each episode cost $1 million to make, and another was that there was a disagreement with Jon Lovitz. It's anyone's guess.

There is an episode I think later on where they profess their love to each other. I know there was a return episode in 2000 I guess on the internet that didn't amke it where he has a new girlfriend named Jennifer. I'll always love Alice.

What I liked about this cartoon is that Jay is a normal guy, not like Homer or Peter Griffin. But Jay's life is SO miserable, that is the highlight of the show, the life of a single 30 years old movie critic.
