Clever. I never would have thought of that. Although, wouldn't it have been easier to reach the stagger limit on the tail, then throw the boomerang? Anyway, this is a useful bit of info. I'll be sure to tell my hunting buddies about it.
It's kinda funny. When you cut another wyverns tail off, it takes a huge chunk off. When you look at what comes off Basarios' tail, it just an itty, bitty snipit.
You don't have to hit the tail with a boomerang that many times. The reason that the Basarios' tail comes off in the first place is because he reaches his stagger limit on his tail. However, as we all know, Hammers can't cut tails. What would be easier is to simply do some basic math, calculate how many of which hits you'd need to smack his tail with, then use a single Boomerang throw to lop the tail off. I'm sure someone's already done that though by now, just to show off.
U r full of crap. Hammers deal impact damage. Tails can only be taken off by a cut-type damage. You cant go whacking the tail with hammer then use a boomerang as a final hit to cut the tail.
takes forrrrrever i tried to do it with a sword i had and i was throwing boomerangs and i was jus like forget it and i cut it off faster with a sword..
Well, that many hits from such a weak weapon... I'd imagine boomerangs would be wonderful with the felyne throwing skill. Don't know if monster hunter 2 has felyne skills though.
lol wow, didnt know it takes that many hits to cut it off. i recently killed my first basarios, i was trying to cut its tail off but i gave up lol =).
this is the 2nd i saw somebody use bomerang to cut off tail

That's gay, a boomerang made of bone can cut the tails off monsters but a Crag or Pierce bullet can't. wtf.
