A homeless guy with a cell-phone... how is that outrageous? Most homeless people are either in between jobs or can't get one because of the economic recession. Being able to afford a cell-phone doesn't mean you can afford a house; there is a large price difference between the two. Most homeless people have either some sort of income, or already have a job, but don't have enough to afford a home yet.

The problem with partisanship is that when the opposing party is in office, individuals will only look for fault in them to prove that they are right to others. You can cherry pick the studies you want to believe if you want which would be par for your course but my own personal experience also showed that as the misconceptions about the Iraq conflict fell apart so did the countries support for the war. Being able to afford a cell-phone doesn't mean you can afford a house; there is a large price difference between the two. No government may initiate force for any reason whatsoever, even if that alleged purpose is for the public good. For is not the individual whose rights are being violated for the public good, a member of the public? How can such a violation be in the public's good? For is not his/her good also the good of the public, of which he/she is a member? The truth is, such violations are only in the irrational interests of a division of the public, but are not in the interests of the ENTIRE public.

Philosophy. Nice. I personally believe that the American people should be presented with the truth. Big government and big business have been lying to the people for too long. They'll have you believe that competition in a capitalist system brings out the best in people. They're absolutely right. Except when we need cooperation. You could call it socialism or whatever. Sometimes we need to cooperate to fight wars. And we need to share roads, parks, and the air we breath. Sounds like Aristotle.

Sure that's why my arguments are based on ten plus years of classical political theory and philosophy. I've read many of Plato's works and happen to adore the Republic. I can read Karl Marx as well as Adam Smith and appreciate both. I like conservative intellectuals like Victor Davis Hanson and Garry Wills. I hate conservative pundits like Limbaugh. Too dumbed down. What is consumer capitalism? If you can't tell me, then be prepared to retract your comment on "Artificial Stupidity".

Proper spelling when involving foreign countries is part of politics. You need to make sure your msg is getting across and not getting all warped, because you couldn't bother to have the thing check by language experts.

He later bitches that Obama is not down the center but to the far left. Does anyone else notice this? We certainly should judge Obama by the very same standards that we judged Bush. The problem with partisanship is that when the opposing party is in office, individuals will only look for fault in them to prove that they are right to others. Likewise, when a candidate of their party is in office, they will seek to justify the actions of this person. I try to see both sides equally. I'm conservative on some issues and liberal on others. Obama was a lawyer. Bush was a businessman. Commensurate?

Unlike the majority of conservatives, I am very cynical of business. I'm still conservative on other issues though. I see business as opportunistic and harmful to the public good. They will take our tax $s through huge government contractsthey are awarded. Mike Huckabee has recently noted that their are 70 corporate lobbyists in Washington per Congressman. Big business and big media are one and the same. Big media has a ton of lawyers and other professionals in DC. It's not a liberal media.

How are "rich bankers" parasites, anyway? They are no more parasites than anyone else who takes advantage of an opportunity to make a very good living. Let's not forget that the people who are running businesses are the ones who create jobs for people like you. If you don't like the way they run the business, don't be a part of it. Do business with someone else. Wealthy people are always criticized by those who have less. But that gives us the incentive to work harder to get where we want to be.

You're a smart man. Marx actually never critiqued consumerism. He was more into critiquing how rich "fat cats" were living high on the hog off of the work of industrial laborers who lived in squalid conditions. It was the Frankfurt School that formulated a Marxist critique of consumerism. Like the "bread and circuses" of Imperial Rome. 1984 the book- beer and football. Just give the plebes something to have fun with. Then they won't give a shit about politics and how they're getting screwed.

No one has time to spend with their family or friends cause they're too busy working off their massive debt. Hundreds of commercials flying in your face a day. Telling you you're never big, smart, or good looking enough to survive. The US changed from a Producers' Republic to a Consumers' Republic.

you talk about 50% of news watchers not knowing Pelosi was in charge. u like numbers here's some. a year after bush's war started 48% thought links between al queda and iraq were found. 22% that WMDs had been found in Iraq and 25% that the world supported the war. 23% who did not believe those things supported the war, 78% of people who believed 2 of those things did and 83% with all three misconceptions supported it. Fox news was found to have the highest levels of misconceptions. fox kills.

I was just quoting a survey by the University of Maryland's Programme on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA). You can cherry pick the studies you want to believe if you want which would be par for your course but my own personal experience also showed that as the misconceptions about the Iraq conflict fell apart so did the countries support for the war. You guys would like to say we didn't have the stomach for it but your wrong, we just don't like being lied to.

They found misconceptions like that WMD were infact found in Iraq were substantially higher than with people who viewed any of the other channels.
