For me, I just get them back there the tentacle cant reach, then get wynne blizzard brood's ass and leiliana arrow of slay til she dies, 2 tanks protect leli and wynne occasionally, it's quite easy....but not as much as balista raping the archdemon.

I have had a real difficult time with this level as I was constantly being beaten by the Broodmother. But perhaps I should be bringing other companions (I brought Wynn, Leliana and Orghen along).

Which of the companions would be best to defeat the Broodmother? Perhaps I could use them next time I playthrough Dragon Age: Origins.

@brongers457 I just stood in the back protecting Wynne from the occasional darkspawn while she kept casting spells at the brrodmother. Stay on the rocky areas and kill the tentacles because it hurts the broodmother i think.

@brongers457 It really doesn't matter. If you just go with the basic Tank - Rogue - Melee - Mage you'll do fine. With the squad you suggested, just plant Wynne and Leliana on the rocky ground at the back of the cave, while your tank and Oghren charge forward. Once the tentacles are down, attack the broodmother. Once the darkspawn arrive, retreat back to Wynne and Leliana, and defend. Then just repeat.

Lots of potions, dog, Shale if you can get.. her, and two archers. That's what I did. Cost me some potions, though. Stupid Shale, decided to ignore my set tactics in favor of a more peaceful solution: Stand still and let the enemy maul you. I'll not fight her without a mage again.

Just be on the stone aaaaaaalll the time and you'll be okay. I dumped blizzard on top of her after Death Hex. It's a nice combination XD. If you want a quicker one, Spell Might => Death Hex then Blizzard + Tempest -- I didn't have Tempest yet that time so... huh Blizzard spam) Just let your mage Spam with magic, your warrior get rid of the Darkspawns, you won't leave with a scratch at all.

a tip to save you any trouble... i used earthquake and tempest to rid of the tentacles and any attacking enemy... when i was surrounded by darkspawns i use fireball... i had no other choise since my entire party died too early so it was pretty beast xD

I managed to defeat her using three warriors and a mage. I put Alistair and Oghren on the rock island near the Brood Mother, then put Morrigan and my PC (a dwarf warrior) on the rock island in the back.

hm i use other tactic :) i send my damage maker (sten) to teh broodmother and let him make damage on her while my tank and the other damagemaker ( me and leilana) kill those things on sten and teh healer use groupheal on us :) this way i did this fight on about 5 minutes :) and it's fun cuse it's makes everythin ga little bit harder :)

@JRCC56 Watch where MrKennyKRH put his characters when the tentacles are up, it really helps in keeping your characters from being overwhelmed by the tentacles and make sure you kill the darkspawn that spawn, if you focus on her primarily (like I did my first playthrough), you will get overrun with darkspawn.

you have 3 warriors and a mage. it's a very badly put together group. I dunno I only ever play on nightmare so it might be a little pickier about group set up, but I generally roll with warrior mage mage rogue seems to be the strongest combo for versatility and survival

I did it simple. Put "Dog" on the front rock and have him tank, attracting the broodmothers spit and overwhelm the darkspawn while at the same time being out of the tentacles reach. (Unnecessary to kill the tentacles...)

The remaining three: (Wynne, Warden(Rouge), Lelianna) use ranged attacks on the broodmother. While my Warden eventually protected Wynne and Lelianna from darkspawn before switching to bows.

Result:

No pots used. Wynne didn't cast offensive spells. :3

Basically, All the boss fights in this game are tank and spank save for the Archdemon.

nice strategy but i did this: i use the warden( a elf mage) to cast blizzard(total cripple in area)

I use leliana with a bow and i do a lot of shattering shots(cripple her armor)

I use winne with party healing and acelerate

The three standing in a stone plate of course

When the tentacles spawn, i switch leliana to melee atacks, and killed them i used alistair to tank and do melee damage

It took me around 4 minutes, with no casualties and i use around 5 mana potions and 8 health potions...

@PittBullBoi you need to put Wynne in your party for healing, if you don't have her at all I'd recommend leaving to complete the Circle of Magi quest; she's very useful to have on the team. But besides that you'll notice that in this video the played mostly remained on the stone platforms, in these areas the broodmother's tentacles can't come up from beneath you--hope this helps

You dont have to do it last, just do Tower of Magi 1st, then go to Ozzamar. Or make a mage yourself. I have a Shield warrior, Morrigan, Leliana and the Drawf (forgot the name). I'm not there yet, but Ozzamar is my 2nd area and im lvl 11 so its pretty easy (did Redcliff 1st)

best rpg ive ever played is legend of zelda ocarina of time. this game is right up there though. i like the way the game is set up personally, and if you want to do everything by yourself (not recommended) you can. but when i fought the brood mother, she never grabbed me but did kill all my party members leaving me alone. i had oghren leliana and morrigan with my rogue.

It took me forever but I finally figured out a plan she only grabs the main character so I used Shale to main tank and I used the warhound to dps the adds and boss while my Rogue shot arrows from the rock and Wynne healed I also switched to melee to protect wynne from the adds. Hope this helps someone and saves them time.
