Yeah, it said they were Vampires in the description on direct tv! But they aren't! They're mutants. But I'm pretty sure the book is way different from what I heard. I mean, there are four remakes of the book to movie including this one. So, I'm sure every film changed it in some way from each time. The titles of these other remakes are:

"The Last Man on Earth." (or what ever the book is called)

"Omega Man."

"I Am Omega"

and "I Am Legend."

in the original book, they werent mutant zombie things they were real vampires who had been bitten by vampires. the way the vampires came into it is that they were always there but people didnt know and didnt fear them so they started turning people into vampires and eventually the hole city was vampires except for robert. and the vampires actually had a leader named ben cortman who was once a friend of robert. but still the movie was awesome and so was this trailer.
