That's probably because the styles of music from Pokemon and the Smash Bros. series are very similar. Put Smash Bros. music in a soundfont similar to the Game Boy, and the dividing line is even more blurred.

Well, that may be in part due to the SNES version having 3 note chord maxiumums, no flats or sharps, and more rigid beats. Not to take away anything from the quality of this work. Freaking awesomely done!
