    you realize the homopolar motor was the first (correct me if im wrong) motor ever discovered. People have discovered much more efficient motors then this one. In fact this one just drains the hell out of the energy source.

  • @bangadesh It is essentially a short circuit. The short current path and low resistance means that the load is very high, so it uses power very fast, and loses a lot through resistance losses (heating).

  • @gilbondfac insteed of such big cilinder maybe u`ll put a larger disc,and under the disc glue some wires to capture alternative electric current.(clasic method to capture)You know you can reverse alternative into continuous current.Maybe u gain some electricity if u multiply the units and even not multiply or made a biger and larger scale of this captureing electricity, with a large fine disc insteed that cilinder .that disc must to be very well anchor because will vibrate.Must gain electicity.

    you are asking the wrong question... you should be asking yourself what would in reality happen if you were applying a voltage to that system. Basically you would short the power supply as a magnet linked to a metallic ball and a ferromagnetic screw would be seen as just a conducting material i.e. like a metallic bar. Now try to connect + and - to a metallic bar and see what you get. gildbondfac is taking a piss and you wonder about the magnet at the bottom???

  • @miszczmateusz Kind of, currents create a magnetic field, it's the basic principal involved with electo magnets. Here the current is used the create a magnetic field that is used to spin the magnets, so really you would only be using a current to create a current

  • @miszczmateusz It's an interesting thought, the principle has been applied on a large scale to create a magnet such as in junk yards, though that's as far as it's gone. In a car the battery starts the car and the motor recharges it by combusting gas which you need to refuel (or you plug it in if it's electric to charge it back up). You wont get a self charging device because of the basic rules of physics, but you might be able to convert and restore some wasted energy... tough to do though :)

  • @miszczmateusz my reply was a rhetorical question... the point is that the system would not work because magnet + screw = short circuit in the power supply. I know exactly how to utilise the magnetic flux and a coil to generate electricity but you need a rotating movement. If you had read my previous post you would understand what I'm talking about. Do not try to convince me of something which is impossible (at least in that configuration magnet+screw+power supply = short circuit)

  • @ChucGyver for this kind because there is some friction between the screw and the ruler (i think its a ruler) it will eventually stop even in no atmosphere...but the friction is so little it would hardly affect it

Do the math, all you have to do is get a motor to spin at 3600 rpm and you can make the object appear to stand still.
