hey i got a question for you im new to the world of car audio and im about to perchase an orion xtr pro 12 and i was wonder what the difference between 2 ohms and 4 ohms is cuz the wattage is the same and one is cheaper than the other. i have no idea about any of this so help me out if ya can!!!

When you hear someone say "my amp is running at 2 ohms", or "running at 4 ohms" that only means 1, of 2 things.

1. - Either their amp is only stable at 4, or 2 ohms...

Or

2.- They have wired their subs so as to maximize, or optimize their amplifiers output because there's less resistance with a lower ohm load.

Ohms act very much like a governor on a dirt bike - you can adjust it to achieve more power. But remember, you must be careful not to wire an unstable load for your amp =)

For you, you're gunna want to buy a 1 Channel Class D Monoblock Amplifier to run those subs.

ok. so maybe there is more cone area but i still won. i seen a guy with one 22 inch jackhammer hit i think it was 157 dbs at a usac tourny and another guy with 6 15 orions and hit a 156. mybe its more cone area but you cant get the specs of the box for every sub if you have so many so one sub in a perfectly tuned box can beat a whole bunch shoved in one car. its not all about come area. and its also about excursion. wich a 12 cant even get close to goin out as far as an 18.
