  • Um. Well. This is certainly a pairing I never expected to see...

  • thats a really good tone

  • its all copy .

  • holy shit..never would have seen that coming!

  • Aw... wanted to see the Roots and Yngwie actually play something together... that would be something actually deserving of my time!

  • just awesome

  • it also made his career fat!

  • Yngwie is the best! and if you dont have a video of yourself playing better then him then you cant say crap.

  • @br00talBronco2 what? spend 30 years learning something I dont like to listen to just to earn the right to say: There you are - now listen to me - this is some amazing but kind silly nonsense isnt it? Should i become a mason before deciding on a house or discussing preferences with people who dig various houses? Man im never going to be able to speak out on nuclear submarines or anything. Just food and bitches and sht. well i guess i could video document that ...

  • @whynottalklikeapirat if you dont like his style or music that is your opinion but you cant deny the skill it takes to play it, i dont like bluegrass for example but i dont deny the fact that it takes skill, my point being unless you can play his music or have a basic concept of the music theory and technique that goes into composing or playing music like his then you have no right to criticize his guitar playing.

  • @br00talBronco2 U'll notice i didnt critizie yngwies playing. I stated a matter of taste and then went on to something different. I appreciate his technique. I understand it theoretically and generally find that i have a pretty good grasp of whats going on. I do know my metal history. Its fun to listen to at times but for me it dispels its own magic. I was reserving my right to an opinion without having to clean all the kings stables first. I'm fine with having my opinion challenged.

  • Jimmy Fallon is such a bastard!! Bloody retard son of a bitch!!!

  • lol all the arguing....lol wow....anyways, malmsteens a sick guitar player and has some of the best vibrato out there....vibrato is way more important than people think - nobody wants kirk hammett vibrato its weak....

  • Yngwe är den bästa Or in english Yngwe is the best

  • i remember in a old dimevision tape dimebag ran into yngwie has he was headed for the elevator, he had no clue who dime was, dime was givin him shit,,,great memories, yngwie can play but has all-ways sucked as a person,

  • he sucks!!! i never liked him.

  • @Topher19801413 hahahahaha and he can sell an arena worth of tickets, how about you?

  • @heptatonic the guy is a jerk!!! i dont care how many tickets he sells. and i dont care for his tone or style. and its fine many others feel the same as i do and some feel the same as you. isnt that what makes the world great?!

  • @Topher19801413 i understand where youre coming from, trust me. but at the same time, isnt it extremely childish to say he sucks just because you dont like him? there is a difference and the distinction has to be made. i dont care for jazz music, but im not gonna go round mudslinging cos that aint my choice of music. have a good year. =)

  • Damnit ladies STFU, nobody gives a god damn about Beiber or the chilli sucks...this is about Yngwie and the roots kicking ass...

  • YNGWIE FTW!!

  • Wow, d00ds. He just onleashed da fockin' fuuur-eeesss!!!

And Ing-vay. No more donuts... okay?

  • Press 4 For Orgasm moment

  • UNLEASH THE FURY!

  • @sprinkler5802

Again, that's your opinion!! I disagree!!!

In some ways Yngwie is actually better than before!!

Yngwie still writes, composes, and plays at a high level!!

  • @epic103 No, no and uuuhh no. Your wrong period. Its a fact. He's does not play better then before and as far as his writing... Rising force, marching out and trilogy are untouched to this day... not just by yngwie himself but by anyone

  • I would like to see him play his awesome instrumental "Marching Out" live in concert. He really did some different stuff on that and I believe it was inspired a little by the great Allan Holdsworth.

  • Least Fallon gives props to Yngwie's talent, vs some throbbing, generic Hip Hop, boy band, or Lady Bla Bla swill.

  • When someone is very good at what they do or has tremendous momentum happening, they become a target for attacks and such. He's so good and he gets equal shit for this. I'm sure he laughs all the way to the bank. His checks are good!

  • Yngwie is nothing but a harmonic minor shredder. I prefer Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, and others.

  • america made yngwie fat

  • @kickalion Lol yeah i once said Yngwie is turning into an american he is fat and cocky and mean and arrogant xD

  • @kickalion america makes everyone fat.

  • @martinbelmont I´m a little bit skinny so I´m going to america LOL

  • @martinbelmont sorry for having better food than other countries...

  • @kickalion yngwie made himself fat and decided to use America to that very end. He chose ... wisely

  • To all the haters, Yngwie is THE BOSS!!!

Yngwie has helped shape modern rock guitar playing!!

I just saw Yngwie in concert 2 months ago in Albany NY, and he put on an amazing show for about 2 hours!! People can say what they want, but Yngwie is incredible!!

Yngwie Malmsteen is one of those guitar players that comes along every 50 to 100 years, just enjoy it for what it is!! He is a true legend and icon!!

  • Ygwi Malmsteen----->

    See the magazine.

    Steve Vai ------>

  • well i guess with egos come personality issues all i know is the first time I saw AL play race with the devil live back in 1979 he went into a long drawn out lead and it blew me away, thought " this guy can play circles aroung Eddie Van halen" who by the way i hear is a dick too.

  • @mikef361 amen

  • yeh he's quick but speed isn't everything, shreddeing can get boring his music lacks soul and a hook

put an electric guitar in Al Dimeola's hands an you've got someone eho can mis speed and style. sorry Yngwie you ain't neer the top on my list

  • @mikef361 Al is pretty robotic too. and a douche. I met him and he's an absolute stain.

  • @dirkworld The guy with the afro?

  • @anival2sorto no, Al DiMeola

  • @dirkworld Who is that?

  • @anival2sorto He's one of the most influential guitarists of all time.

  • @dirkworld What did he do to you i hope nothing bad!:O

  • @anival2sorto not really. Sat next to him at the cirque du soleil many years ago. I mentioned we were on the same label and he was uncool and very cold to me. he was always one of my idols and I know everything about him. So I was very disappointed.

no big deal I still love his playing.

  • @dirkworld As in music label?and Yngwie is sometimes the same way

  • Yngwie with the Roots is like replacing the Jelly on your PB/J with dog shit :/

  • Even in his old age he's still an incredible guitar player.

  • @OneDownServer yup, fuckin exactly

  • Yngwie playing with the Roots is like Michael Phelps swimming with your varsity high school team.

  • @killyou45 Gimme a break, the Roots are a pretty rad band. ?uestlove is absolutely one of the unsung heroes of modern drumming; the dude is a machine. They've got a groove that Yngwie just doesn't have, because Yngwie is more about virtuosity, which has its place of course. This vid is more like two completely opposing entities of modern music coming together to have a good time, mix it up and blow the roof off.

  • 12 men have walked on the moon...how many people can play like him/YJM ?He is extraordinary-thats a fact.

  • There is a microphone stand hanging on his picks...

  • THATS FREEKIN AWESOME!!!

  • Maybe a bit harsh. I don't blame the guy-he's got chops for centuries, he definitely practiced his s(c)ales pitch more than many, and definitely approached the guitar in a uniquely athletic way back in the day... but artists evolve, and so does craft. If his pursuit were really musical, then we'd still be talking about him in the present tense. How about rhythm? I feel like The Roots could give a masterclass on it that this totally ridiculous character could benefit from.

  • @davidhandles "If his pursiit were really musical, then we'd still be talking about him in the present tense." I personally like Malmsteen. If you don't, that's perfectly fine, but what the hell are you talking about?

That's like saying, "Blues musicians weren't playing for the sake of music, so they got unpopular." No, asshole, times change and people get tired of certain genres of music. The 20's had Big Band music, the 30's and 40's had country/folk with blues emerging itno mainstream etc

  • This guy is trying (and succeeding) to be the same douchebag he was almost thirty years ago. Back then, he was an overweight, leather-clad egotistical douchebag. Now, he is an embarrassing shell of an overweight, leather clad egotistical douchebag. The only thing 1984 and 2011 Yngwie have in common is that they still play the same scales and patterns and... well, ok, it's exactly the same. It's still bullshit. I'm amazed at the legions of guitarists who still look up to this character.

  • @davidhandles

    LOL!! You're a character!!!

Who are you, and what have you done genius???

You sound like a jealous fool!!

The fact that Yngwie has been around for 30 years speaks for itself!! Yngwie is a true innovator, and has help shape modern rock guitar playing!!!

Meanwhile, you've done nothing!! You are just a wanna be!!

  • huh, he lost weight... good for him :D

  • love it great response @DistortedV12

  • oh yeahhh fat malms Teen

  • I wonder what level you get comparing to him anyway.. Everyone his ears and tastes guyz :)

I listen to him since soo much years and, even if he's not as rich as a Mr Vaï or others with technic, he's so melodic in most of his titles, and that's the way I like music with him everytime.

  • *Insert bitching about "lack of feeling" here*

  • unfuckingbelieveable...blows me away...even though I listen to him for 20 years, he is still surprising me. He should be listed at Wiki under "Professor level of guitar playing/Malmsteen level".

  • I wish he would just play how he did in the 80's and not the same 4 or 5 licks over and over. He's still a god but he's just not the same. I know you yngwie fans know what im saying

  • @sprinkler5802 I agree. His bag of tricks has become much smaller over the years. Some say he doesn't play in enough keys. He has always played in harmonic minor and phrygian but he manipulated them in many more ways when he was starting out.

  • @StanleyKu EXACTLY. You hit the nail on the head. Its like he's just a showman now and doesnt really try anymore

  • @sprinkler5802 The Alcatrazz Yngwie was the best. His sound wasn't so saturated either. It's like he became a clone of himself at some point.

  • @StanleyKu yes... YES exactly. Alcatrazz, rising force and marching out are all epic and as far as im concerned and NO one... not even current yngwie himself can even come close to creating a master piece like those 2 albums

  • @sprinkler5802

You are forgetting about Trilogy, arguably his best all around record!!

You're right, it's hard to top his first 3 or 4 records because they were so good!! Those records changed the world, and help shape modern rock guitar playing!!

I just seen Yngwie in concert last month in Albany, NY and his playing is still incredible!!!

    CHEERS!!!

  • @epic103 Yes i forgot to mention trilogy. Last time i saw him was in 2004 with g3 and he's not the same

  • @sprinkler5802 he is but a mere shadow of his formal self

  • @sprinkler5802 You're right, he just seems to lack that "Malmsteen Spark" he had in the 80s.

  • @toxicdooney i know man, he use to instantly make lesser guitarists (all guitarists) want to end there lives

  • @sprinkler5802 I wish I could play neoclassical stuff! I can play arpeggios and quick licks thats about it...

  • @toxicdooney put it together in the rite way, thats what i have done for a long time

  • @sprinkler5802

That's your opinion, but you have no idea what you're talking about!! Yngwie hasn't lost his touch!!

I just saw Yngwie in Albany, NY a few months ago and he put on an amazing performance, and he played about 2 hours!! Trust me, his playing is still jaw-dropping!!

At almost 50 years old Yngwie plays all the stage and always puts on a great show!! He is an icon and legend!! Respect!!!

  • @epic103 dude dont try to fuckin school me get the fuck outa here. I've seen modern yngwie live and old yngwie via concert footage. Theres no comparison, no fuckin contest

  • @sprinkler5802 Yeah i know what you saying. He was NEVER sloppy before. Long live Yngwie.

  • @svenzia thank you and fuck yea

  • @sprinkler5802

You are ignorant!! Get out of the past, it isn't the 80's anymore!!

Of course Rising Force, Marching Out, and Trilogy are ground breaking records, but he has also written a lot of great music after those early records!!

With that said, Yngwie still plays, composes, and writes at a high level. Alchemy, Attack, Unleash the Fury, Fire and Ice, Seventh Sign, Relentless etc... has some great music too!!!

Get out of the past!! Yngwie is, and always will be the greatest!!

  • @epic103 Your deaf asshole. You can bet your ass i got way more people who agree with me then you. All the shit you just named is good stuff by yngwie. Good... not great. It's the repetitive stuff that i mentioned earlier. Once the 90's kinda came around he would rarely play anything that sounded truly inspired like he did when he was younger. I dont understand what your arguing about. I'm rite your wrong. Get over yourself

  • @sprinkler5802

You need to take an anger management class, you are far to angry!!

According to your logic the same can be said for every artist(musician)

The first 2 or 3 records from any artist(musician) are usually their best stuff!! But that doesn't meant the rest of their music isn't great as well!!

The first 3 Beatles records, the first 3 Van Halen records, the first 3 Led Zeppelin records, the first 3 Deep Purple records etc...

The early works of anyone are usually their best stuff!!

  • @epic103 First off go fuck yourself. I dont like the beatles so i can't comment. Van Halen... sure i agree totally. Deep purple... yup same case. Led Zepplin could fart into a microphone and it would be gold to me so fuck you. Now let me point out your making a major assumption here that because i believe yngwie was at his best in the early 80's that i think thats the case with every artist. How the fuck did you gather that?

  • @epic103 Stop jumping to conclusions asshole and dont try to get off topic. We are only talking about yngwie and how he was way more creative and fluent during his first few albums

  • @sprinkler5802

You should be on medication!! You are way to angry!!

My point was, almost every artist(musician) early works are usually the classics!! In most cases their best work is early on in their careers, that's normal!!

With that said, I think Yngwie has been very consistent over the years!! He has produced many great songs and instrumentals!! Of course songs like Black Star, Far Beyond the Sun, Trilogy Suite etc... are his trademarks, but he still writes great stuff!!

  • @epic103 All of Beatles songs are great..!

  • @sprinkler5802 uhhh hes only ever played the same four licks since he started (his solo career). Steeler and Alcatraz days maybe...

  • @TrueVideo i'm gonna go ahead and not respond to that one. Don't be offended i'm just tired of arguing with idiots. I have realized over the last 10 yrs that the people who knock yngwie, even his most genius work during his early career, are completely tone deft and they are usually awful guitar players themselves. Sorry i have to take that stance. If i knew you were skilled then i could respect your opinion but i have to be cautious and assume your garbage. Sorry.

  • @sprinkler5802 You'll notice 2 things about Yngwie critics...they ALL have this in common..ready:

"ywINGwIE d0EZNt plAYS tHE fEELINGZz" and they all like...for this you'll have to sit down..they all like and admire...dishrag, beginner guitar players like "jHOnz fRUzkCIANtEes" from the chili faggots. And yes, they are all horrible, horrible guitar players themselves.

Can't argue with retards though...just use sarcasm with them it's fun. \m/

  • @PinkyWontWork hahahahahahahahahaha u hit the nail on the head with that one

  • @sprinkler5802

I wish he hit the nail on your head!!! Hahahahahahaha......

  • @epic103 wow... your still here? Give up you fail

  • @sprinkler5802

Wow... It looks like you're still here to?? You give up, you fail!!

You and PinkyWontWork are like Dumb and Dumber!! LOL!!

  • @epic103 good one... u still fail completely faggot go fuck your self and get a girl friend

  • @epic103 get off youtube and try not to repeat what i say

  • @sprinkler5802

    I will if you will???

  • @epic103 wow... just fuckin wow. I'm done here your hopless

  • @sprinkler5802

    Excellent, leave, who needs you??

While you're at it jump off the nearest bridge!!!

  • @PinkyWontWork RHCP is a great band, if you're a bigot then you're not better than them, but I agree, Yngwie's detractors all talk about feelings and him playing too much notes but people love him because of the fast shredding in the first place..

  • @miyavizim Please don't bring liberal/progressive/faggot bullshit talk into this like "big0TriZ" and "rAZsCisM". All that nonsense is for undeveloped minds.

As for RHCP being a great band..well, I'm sure you believe that. I sure as hell know they're not but you're welcome to show me or bring up a "rHcPs" song that an intermediate guitar player can't play. I'm sure Disney Channel bands are great to some kids too and so is Justin Beaver right?

  • @PinkyWontWork You're lumping RHCP with disney manufactured bands together, not everyone can play funk and it seems like you think that a song being technically difficult is all that matters, if that's the case shouldn't you be grouping Mr. BB King's songs with the Jonas Brothers?

  • @TrueVideo You just started a paragraph with "UhHh" or "UhMm" you just voided ANY credibility.

Just so you know..most great guitar players have 2-3 licks and variations of them that's it. Even the great (my favorite) Eric Johnson has TWO, yes, two licks and expands on that. The great SRV had...ready? ONE fucking lick that's it..one. Of course you wouldn't pick up on this because you don't listen to guitar players or study their styles. We can break down their techniques if you want.

  • @PinkyWontWork

Get off your high horse!!! What, you're so smart and everyone else is dumb??

Who anointed you King??? You're a dope!!

  • @epic103 ?? ?? Get your feelings hurt or your little bubble burst?

  • @rohan286 I believe it was a riff from far beyond the sun.

  • Simply Amazing !! The Cat's 48, and still shreds like 21yearold !.... If I could have just 10% of his Talent ! (Wish).

  • I don't understand all the haters, I think Yngwie nailed it, it was played perfectly!!!

Remember too, it's only a condensed excerpt. He had a limited time so he took a few elements from Far Beyond the Sun!

    The sweep's from :18 - :23 are awesome!!!

I just saw Yngwie in Albany, NY last week and he was unbelievable!!! He played for almost 2 hours!!! Trust me, he's still got it!!!

    Long live the Maestro!!!

  • What is the name of the show? and, was he interviewed or like just visited for an endorcement purpose? Guy's so cool, and can be really humble!

    haha

  • malmsteen was on fire here, not even ONE wrong note.

  • Damn, Yngwie ruins Far Beyond The Sun everytime he plays it now. Too much noodling.

  • @RyuHayabusa06 I know, I call it "Far Beyond 'Far Beyond The Sun'". He strays way too far from the melody.

  • HEY YNGWIE dont steal jimmies thunder!!! and JIMMY DONT MAKE THUNDER CUZ U HAVE NONE

  • okay let me sum i t up

    Steve Jobs died

    Michale JAckson died

    Billy Mays Died

YINGWIE MALMSTEEN PLAYS WITH POP-RNB BAND

NOW I KNOW THE END OF TEH WORLD HAS JUST BEGUN

  • @awfulguitarplucker could be worse. he could have been playing with lil wayne. I would jus kill myself if that happened, to avoid what would come next.

  • If white guys can get into funk or hip-hop, why cant black guys get into rock? Hendrix, living colour.... that's it!?

  • @Andybaby What about Bad Brains? The Memorials? Bootsy Collins? The Morning After? D.H. Peligro? George Clinton with Secret Agent Bill? There's plenty of them. By the way I wouldn't call this performance hiphop or funk, even though it's played by The Roots. It sounded more like The Roots playing a rock-ish riff.

  • @Andybaby Colour is not important in music. What do you mean with black? You probably mean African-American?

Besides that most of the "white" guys that play soul or funk suck at it in a lot of other people's opinion! There's a million of yes and no answer and Opinions about it.

In the end of the day, all music is for everyone and the best musicians are always the one who look outside of the box and don't play typical things like HAs to be rock!-music or HAS to be soul- or funk!- music.

  • @tresojos

Yes, musicians DO focus more on the music, but for fans, colour is (unfortunately) EXTREMELY important. Do you think the Beatles would have been as popular if they were black? As Little Richard said "if I was white, Elvis would never have happened". Btw, many Australian aborigines are into reggae - racially they have nothing in common w africans/carribeans, but like most people, they most tend to 'connect' with musicians who at least 'look' a little like them.

  • @Andybaby There is some truth in what you're saying yeah. But it might also be a certain period in peoples live that they tend to connect with musicians who share similarities with them in looks/skin colour. I think when someone's more into music, and he gets older, he will eventually forget about looks for a big part and chase more melody.

  • @tresojos by black, he means black. you can be colorblind and still tell if someone is black..

  • @ydidntIthinkofthat how do you know what he means? In that case by the way i dont agree. Thank you for your uninvited opinion

  • @tresojos ohhh i didnt realize this was a private chat

  • win

  • yngwie who? yngwie fuckin malmsteen thats who

  • Let the haters hate, they'll be lost like farts in the wind.

Mr. Malmsteen on the other hand will be remembered as one of the greatest guitar virtuosos of modern time.

  • thank you thank you

  • this is hilarious the blues guys in the background dont know what to make of him so one of them just starts headbanging but seriously its good to finally see a talented guitarist on tv just a shame it was malmsteen wheres jimmy page or eric clapton when you need them very funnt i thought it was a jeremy beadle style set up when i first saw this

  • he rocks!!!

  • haaaaaaaaaaa! why did I stoped watching this show!

  • LoL The chorus vocalist who is in back is filling the groove!!

  • Yngwie just played more notes in 30 seconds than The Roots have played in their entire career. No disrespect intended.

  • love yng. love felon(joke) love,love, love

  • Another great performance by'' El Maestro'', Keep up the good work!!

  • 19 spare picks.

  • Fender Rules !!!

  • @DistortedV12 If you get familiar to his body of work since the early 80's you'd find he's an excellent rhythm player. He also plays bass on all his studio recordings and composes what all instruments play including drums to the vocal melodies too. He is a true rock composer. In this particular clip he is playing an improvided excerpt of a signature instrumental solo based song called Far Beyond The Sun, from his 1984 Grammy nominated album Rising Force.

  • @Yngwie100Percent yngwie has written some pretty great riffs idk what this guys talking about lol

  • @Yngwie100Percent lol mean username

  • @DistortedV12 LMAO .. You're missing out on something HUGE !

  • @DistortedV12 Shredding is like a tall blonde sexy woman mate.....many make fun of her...many envy her....but make no mistake...all of them wanna...do her.

  • @DistortedV12 Do you?

  • Comment removed

  • @DistortedV12 hell he does, he makes amazing riffs and chord progressions, he´s got everything

  • @DistortedV12 haha what a dumb prick this guy is

  • @DistortedV12 agree! hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • lol, in under a minute, yngwie teaches the world how to play guitar haha

  • a million notes in a few seconds hahaha,a beast

  • yngwie is playing with a bunch of black guys, the band is called the "roots", and he shreds the whitest neo-classical known to man. idiot. I love his playing … but seriously .. total antithesis of someone who knows how to actually jam with other musicians

  • @joeylodes lol good point. A bit of humility would serve him well.

  • @joeylodes - Spot on! Then again, since the next time I hear Yngwie sound good playing the blues will be the first time - as usual, his options were limited. Besides, I'd bet that Yngwie doesn't even know what a "real book" is, either.

  • Wow,great show.I'm so glad I caught it!! Was sooo great seeing Yngwie live again! Wish he played MORE......lots MORE of his tunes, tho. Was great seeing him play! I always loved Yngwie's style......thank God he never changed. Tunes today......isn't even music. So boring, huh? Nothing good on the radio at all. Today's generation has missed out on ALOT of real metal.....real music.

  • is he using seymour yjm pickups??

  • which song is this???

  • @rohan286 - It's an excerpt from Far Beyond The Sun.

  • Comment removed

  • NO WAY!! How did I miss this episode!

  • Same treatment with Zakk Wylde on Lopez Tonight a couple weeks ago.
