I was an Obama supporter, and have tended to vote democrat, but I respect Shepard Smith. He might be the only person on Fox News whom I occasionally go to news for.

Shepard Smith and Chris Wallace are the only people on Fox News that does not try to convince the the audience of an ideological position. I guess you can see Wallace's political colors fly sometimes, but the man is genuine in his effort to flush out the heart of the issue. O'Reilly is a good opinion guy mostly (whether you agree with him or not). The rest of Fox News is propaganda.

I think Shepard Smith doesn't fall prey to running propaganda all day because he knows he'll have a job somewhere else if he keeps on going as a news anchor. People like Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, they have nowhere else to go... not only because they are widely viewed as extremists outside of the network, but because they are also uneducated. No credible news channel hires people who don't even have a bachelor's degree, and those guys don't even have an associate's degree. They're unqualified.

You really need to not worry about putting "I'm not a democrat" label on you.
I'm a conservative, while it's true that conservatives are generally aligned to the Republican party, I don't have a membership with them. I'd rather vote for the Libertarian party unless the Republicans their heads out of their asses. The moderate Republicans need to go. It's either left or right, no middle.
Middle never works as they flip flop too much on issues. You either believe in an issue or you don't.

McCain lost because he was too moderate. I disliked him and so did the conservatives. But they had no choice. You are only given a few choices on the ballot and a fill in the blank.
If I had my way, everything would be a fill in the blank, no filling in ovals next to names. Anyone who's actually following politics will know who they want to vote for.
I was even contemplating on NOT voting at all this year but I did go vote and filled in the blank for Ron Paul.

Gingrich will not win. And I am sure he is smart enough to not run... not many like him... he is out of whack and has "weird" ideas.
American conservatives would love another Ronald Reagan. He cut the size of government, cut the marginal tax rate from 70% to 28%, deregulated the economy and let the American people loose.
He was also close to eliminating social programs such as social security and medicare to force people to stop relying on the government.

from what I understand.. McCain was ahead until Palin opened her mouth.. and then all hell broke loose.
Especially because since Hillary lost McCain gained dem voters.. the main concern was Palin being VP.. she just seemed too green behind the ears.
If McCain didn't have those two things in the race even I would have favored McCain over Obama.. I honestly favored the GOP more.. it was fine though I still wouldn't have voted anyway... :/ So talking to me was like talking to a brick.

3. The amount of influence they have is irrelevant, the two of them are pretty similar in the end.
4. Reagan is revered BY THE RIGHT, that's important to note. Overall the left probably likes Carter less than the right likes Reagan...but that's partly due to the fact that the right is absolutely delusional about what Reagan actually accomplished.

Even MSNBC was covering the Republican Convention and Bill was airing a 3 hour interview with obama evern night of the convention
