  • I don't know why everyone complains about the trigger it works fine for me. I have had mine for about a year and I always go shooting out in a ranch n dirt gets in the gun all the time but I have never had a problem with it. All I got to say is REALLY GOOD GUN

  • Mine was given to me by my Dad and he paid well under 250.00 for the pistol and two 14 round mags. Plus the shops gunsmith lightened the trigger pull like crazy for free. Something like 11 lbs to around 4lbs. I put a simple glove style grip on it and for around 300 bucks total its pretty fucking solid all around.

  • Awesome video. Ive had mine for two years and been through a thousand rounds with no problems. Nice trick on breakdown. Its real easy to clean. Good bang for the buck.

  • Shot till threat eliminated

  • Really love this gun! I've had it for abt 4 years, carry it and shoot it all the time. Out of all the handguns I have this is the best for the price. Thx for the video!!!

  • i got mine for 250 with 50rnds through it. ive never seen a takedown like that though

  • Can you shoot 9mm in these with just a barrel and mag change?

And thanks for the vids !

  • Great Gun, paid 269.00 at Hoffman's in CT

  • Basically you say basically too much. :)

  • Yeah, the trigger and reset are lacking...like shooting a revolver 15 times as fast as you can pull the trigger....not real fast but adequate for most. I simply got used to it. That is why like my SD more.

  • Shooting from a Weaver stance, my Sigma .40 holds a slightly better group than my 1911 does shooting sideways "gangsta" style weak hand. And the trigger pull is about three feet and 281 lbs.

  • These are utilitarian type pistols....they feed anything factory you can throw in them and I have mixed and matched the loads in the same magazine....you can gripe about the trigger but, that is about it.....don't let the cheap price fool you, they are probably one of the best, basic pistols made by anyone, period.....no shiite.

  • I own both a 9mm and .40 in this pistol...279 new for each with rebate....I also bought the SD9 for 70 more....I liked it OVER the M&P.....it's a good pistol too, just didn't like it...for the money, nothing can touch them for what they are, basic....

  • I have the exact pistol myself and thought I couldn't go wrong with buying a Smith& Wesson for the low price of $ 319.00.

    Glad I own one.

  • Thanks for the review, just picked up one today. Kinda an impluse buy lol, but when I got it home I was kinda concerned about the quality of the parts. Glad to see you have got some good use out of it.

  • Excellent video. I just bought this exact pistol, and the instructions are hazy on the explanations of disassembling/reassembling. Thanks for posting.

  • I got the first model 40v,and i had it since 04 but i shot it new years after i cleaned it and it jammes twice with a 15 round clip,im trading in now for glock 23...smh,was relible before the jame but new year new gun,ima miss you SIG lol

  • i have one can you ajust the rear sights if so how

  • @82syreeta Yes, the rear adjusts the left to right, if the gun is in a vice you can tap or press the sight over. the front does the up and down by getting shorter or longer posts to snap on.

  • Outstanding, brief and straight to the points video!

  • I just got one of these for Christmas and I love it. It shoots great right out of the box and it fits great in my hands. The backstrap is very comfortable too. I like the long trigger pull it has. The recoil is not bad either.

  • You're talking about the mag release on the thumb side or the smooth contoured button on the finger side? If the latter, is that pushed out and replaced with a button? Otherwise, it doesn't appear to be able to be pushed in. LOVE this gun though - such a great reliable gun for a relatively tiny amount of money. I bought this one as an extra home defense weapon.

  • @routerpimp That flush button is the back of the mag release. The mag release button goes all the way through the gun to the other side. Watch the flush side while you press the mag release button.

  • What's the little notch on the right hand side of the grip right behind the trigger guard? Looks like it's a button or could be pushed out.

  • @routerpimp It's the magazine release from the other side.

  • @GunsmithUSA can this gun take a 30rd clip?

  • @ripjamar2700 Not that I know of.

  • @GunsmithUSA thanks

  • thanks for the video

  • on sale at academy sport 279.99

  • Paid 400 for mine at cabelas nd I love mine its worth all da money :) I hit accurate every time

  • @dreamz20091 lol i seen it for like 320 at that store

  • @dreamz20091 on sale at academy sport 279.99

  • everything in the video is spot on. great gun.

  • @Edubbplate actually a lot of info is wrong in this video.

  • My first time shooting this gun I couldn't hit shit. Its not the gun its me. But If don't get use to it after a couple hundred rounds I'm gonna sell it. No sense in keepin a gun if I can't hit a target with it lol

  • Do u have an suggestion for online ammo? Message me at chriscross777@gmail.com. thanks

  • @mrchriscross777 cheaperthandirt . com is the cheapest. I shoot anything from UMC to Tula, to Bear. All work fine for me in all calibers.

  • Hey there, GunSmithUSA, I just purchased one of these bad boys, thanks for the video,,, my only question is,,,

I've been told that on the 40 cal you can inter exchange the barrel with a 9mm barrel???? Is this true, if so, what exact barrel is compatible for it. I went under the S&W website, but I found no such information nor did I find a parts/barrel section... Again thanks and any info would be appreciated...

  • @WhatHavU I've never heard that before. I would stay away from swaping them out.

  • ACTUALLY ITS CALLED "SIGMA SERIES".

  • @4everInaDay520 feel better about yourself?

  • I have this handgun. It's very nice for a $300 handgun! I'm very pleased with it. It's also my concealed carry weapon.

  • is thee a saftey on it? and is the trigger hard to pull??? please reply

  • @jakepacheco1 it has a long hard trigger pull and a drop safety, no lever though. The trigger is stiff but I have a vid up on how to fix it

  • @GunsmithUSA cant modify guns where i live its illegal

  • Comment removed

  • ts being discontinued becuase they tried to steel the design from glock. thats what happens when companys steel you get another version thats more expensive. its so offensive how similar it is to the GLOCK ugh..........

  • "two clips" please call them magazines..great review, nice job.

  • how do you adjust the rear sights?

  • @vent89 Windage is done by pressing the rear sight over. Elevation is done by getting a taller or shorter front sight.

  • Nice gun, man. I'd like to see it in action, if you could film a video at the range. (if you haven't already done so; I'll check your channel) Also, what kind of ammo do you use? I know those were hollow points in the mags, but I was wondering what brand, how many grains, ect.

  • @LURTCH I have been using cheap Remington UMC ammo for target shooting, and Hornady hollow points for defense, I'm not sure the grain but I'm probably going to switch to safety slugs instead.

  • @GunsmithUSA Wow, we have the same taste in ammo. Remington and Hornady are the only brands I use, wether it's target shooting or defence. Hope you don't mind if I give a friendly suggestion, (assuming you carry this gun) which is to use the safety slugs exclusively for home defence, and stick with the hollow points when you're out and about, because if your defence situation requires a long range shot, the hollow points would be more effective for that kind of thing.

  • I have the Sigma 40 and it is an excellent gun!! I have had the Glock 19 and there is no different between the guns performances, but there is alot of difference in price. I highly recommend this gun.

  • Is 140 a good deal with two mags

  • You over paid they go for like $250 down here in Texas BRAND NEW

  • @Rooter713 my sr9 does the same thing smh

  • I bought one of these with a red dot for $279.99 on sale its a great pistol for the price

  • I have one as well. I've had it about a year and put about 1000 rounds thru it. No prob. I bought mine for home defense. The trigger breaks at 12lbs. Not a big deal once you get used to it. Since I've had it, I've been able to put 14 rounds in 6 inch groups at 20 yards. That's all center mass. Down goes the bad guy. Who could ask for more.

  • I just picked up one at Cabelas brand new on sale for $299.99 very nice

  • I picked up this gun last week as my first pistol and I must say I am extremely happy with it. Are there better guns out there? Of course there are, but for the price and what I intend on using it for it's a perfect base to start my collection. I've put about 200 rounds through it with no problems what so ever.

  • @illucid1982 If you want a better trigger feel/pull. I posted a video that I linked on this page that shows in detail how to do your own trigger job. A lot of people think it makes it as good as a gun worth twice as much.

  • @GunsmithUSA I've watched it a few times and am skeptical about removing the springs as it did not come that way from the factory. Although I am confident I can do the procedure without any problems, I'm not so sure about the whole ordeal. I looked at a vid showing the Wolff striker spring swap, but it's not recomended... Shoulda bought the XD :(

  • @GunsmithUSA

thinking of picking up a sd40 already own a g26 but i have found a brand new never fired sd40 for $275 and after shooting my cousins 40 cal i really need to own one lol.

  • can u put up a video on how to fix the ejector on this gun

  • @sneakerjunkie804 I'll see what I can do.

  • I love that it has no safety! One less thing to fuck around with. The trigger pull is no big deal. If youre such a pussy that the heavy trigger affects your accuracy that much then put on your tutu and go back to fuckin ballet school. Ive only put about 450 -500 rds through mine but its worked flawlessly. Glock reliability at half the cost.

  • i believe that the intense trigger weight is to make up for the absence of a safety. honestly i prefer a safety on any gun i own. its always been something stressed to me growing up around guns, so its sort of embedded into my view of firearms. however, i read that law enforcement preferred the heavy pull over fumbling with a tricky safety. it also helps prevent accidental extra trig pulls due to recoil..it happens. in all, i love this weapon. great design and value behind a name i trust.

  • Where can i get one of these sigma series 40 in California for cheap??

  • When I dry fire mine the trigger does not reset back into nuetral position. Is this normal with dry firing on this gun or possibly a defect?

  • I have seen sigma 9mm frame blistering on the inner side in the front portion under the barrel and main action spring. Trigger pull is complete nightmaire. Some cycling problem with some type of ammo.

is it a real problem of just one off , many Gun dealers also do not recommend it ..any special reason ?

  • Wheres the ass busters. He said cheap. He ment inexpensive, and no one jumped him. WOW!!

  • This is such an underrated gun. For the price it is hard to beat. I have fired hundreds of rounds out of my Sigma .40 never a hiccup. Great gun, Great price

  • I've noticed on mine that the black piece at the bottom of the handle is removable. Is that for a particular reason? Or is mine just broken?

  • @Javon786 Mine has that too. I'm not sure what it's for, maybe someone will comment with some more info. The new M&P models have the detachable grip latch there and some other handguns have an adjustment tool slide up into the hand grip. Other than that I'm not sure.

  • @Javon786 that's normal don't worry i'm not sure why its there but i do know its supposed to be removable

  • @Javon786 it has 2 reasons, its intended reason it to keep junk and trash from getting in there and causing problems, but! if you remove it, it leaves a convenient hole for your thumb to stick thru and grip your mag. so if you jam, grab the mag and rip it out, it will fix your jam and speed up the jam fixing process

  • Academy is selling these on closeout for $279, I'm wondering if it is worth it? I don't have a .40 and I was thinking of getting one as a beater pistol, something for rough use that won't make me cry if it breaks or gets all dinged up.

  • @dphitch I think it's worth it at that price, you may find out that you like it more than you would have thought. You should to the easy trigger job I show you how in one of my other videos.

  • the barrel looks right crooked in this video

  • @PatVRulz When you rack the slide back the barrel tips up to better feed the round into the chamber. This is the same with most combat pistols.

  • Meprolight,Trijicon and XS Sights make night sights for the Sigma models. I have the same model as you. The only downfall i have found is the rail on it you have to buy an adapter for most lightas and or lasers. Ive had mine for about 6 years and haven`t had any issues.

  • Its a good firearm. I have glock 17 and this one. I like shooting this as much as the glock. Good gun. Trigger not so good,

  • Pretty accurate weapon

  • I believe I have the same model howeva mine seems longer. Same clip and looks

  • Thanks for showing me how to break down my Sigma 40. My patterns were consistently tighter at the indoor range than the big black guy shooting next to me, with whatever handgun he was using. I was ignorant about the trigger pull, but it didn't seem to affect my accuracy. I like to look at it like a saftey feature.

  • Got the nine and the 40, no problems w/ either. poor people Glock or not, I'm positive if I ever need it, it will do the job.

  • Can a Laser fit on the sigma?

  • @PhatBoiRob1 yes but you need the s&w mount to attach it to the front

  • Can u put a laser on that?

  • i just bought this gun today

  • I just got the sigma .40 today with hollow points. @mp15nutt which kind of sigma? It might be the model.

  • I've got the SW9VE 9mm version. Like you said, it fires everytime I pull the trigger and it eats whatever brand of ammo I feed it wihout a hitch. I find the biggest problem with the trigger is simply over-anticipating the long pull and firing a bit low. With practice, though, this can be overcome. All-in-all, I really enjoy this pistol and have no regrets over buying it.

  • The hole in top of the gun to see if the gun is loaded...well I have a sigma and it don't have it..why..? Can anyone explain..????

  • i just shot one today and i am 10 thats the first gun i have ever shot

  • @thecoolvideos19 Nice! Congratulations on shooting your first firearm.

  • Amazon has night sights for the Sigma models, they go for $117. But who would want to pay 1/3 of the total price for new sights? It just doesn't seem worth it to me.

  • I have fired over 500 rounds in my sigma .40 and have not had one jam or malfunction. I bought it used and i have fired reloads that i loaded, and some of them were "hot" loads never had a proble.

  • I actually got the trigger spring from a seller on ebay for $19.99. You can remove the pigtail spring without purchasing anything though. it really made a big difference.

  • I removed the pigtail spring on my sw40ve and replaced the trigger spring it is dead on now i reccomend this gun to anyone.

  • @kinard86 where did you get those parts? Im curious to do that to mine. thanks

  • Hey gunsmith usa, what do u think of the sd 40?

  • @rolltide09ful I've looked closely at it and My impression is it's the sigma. All they did is change the cosmetics of the gun to get a different name out there. Except now its $100 more. The trigger seams the same to me and the overall feel and fit of the gun feels the same. I do believe though that the front rail is now more universal.

  • @Rooter713 Yes that's normal. All my combat handguns do that. The barrel locks into place when you let the slide move to its forward position.

  • Just got this gun and have had NO problems with it...I traded my Kel Tec PF9 with one magazine for this .40 with 4 clips and a pancake holster...not sure what the guy was thinking...i had more problems with that damn ket tec than i have ever had, not to mention the field stripping on the pf9 was a joke when putting it back together. Thanks for the review...haters are gonna hate no matter how many good reviews this gun gets

  • @SmayfieldPhx I couldn't agree more, I'm more accurate than anyone I know with my sigma vs their anything. The trigger pull may be a bit harder but it's consistent and smooth. 4in steel plate at 50 yards 8 out of 10 times says it all. (with big box cheap ammo)

  • Great review, the Sigma is the gun people love to hate. I to own a Sigma .40 and have shot hundreds of rounds without a problem. For the price it's one of the best deals out there. The trigger you get used to and it helps me shoot my other guns better. This gun fits my hand better than any of my glocks. Its a great car gun, if it gets stolen from your car it was only 3 and change so its not the end of the world.

  • @teammazza i have one too aand mine too has been great..dont really know where all the hatin on sigmas actually came from..maybe from the problems with some of the earlier models.

  • Good info I just got my license in the mail today and this is the gun I'm looking into gettin thanks for the video this video is what has helped me make up my mind this is the gun for me

  • @smokefast90606 If you had a glock jam on you twice, you have a limp wrist issue, I hate glocks, they are ugly, crude, sights suck donkey balls, BUT i have NEVER, and i mean NEVER had a glock jam up in any way shape or form on me. I have owned 5 glocks in my life. My buddy owns a sigma 9mm. It jammed 2 times with ball ammo last month, the trigger sucked, and it is a cheap gun, and you can tell. you didnt have a glock jam on you, you just feel the need to justify your purchase.

  • Im a smith fan, especially the 3rd gen semi's, That being said, i would NEVER trust a sigma in a high pressure cartridge, like the .357sig. The gun just isnt designed for the slide speed and 45,000 psi chamber pressure, I have heard of these guns falling apart in a 9mm platform, no cheaply made guns for me!. for the same price as this gun, go get a smith 5906 or like gun. Or go get a glock.

  • @black99bimmer I JUST GOT A 40 SIGMA SHOT THREE DIFFRENT BRAND ROUNDS MY BUDDY HAS THE M&P 40 AND ASIDE FROM THE LOOK I FEEL 0 DIFFRENCE BESIDES IT BEING A PAIN TO FIELD STRIP THE NEXT BOOTH HAD A GLOCK NEW ALSO AND IT JAMMED TWICE MY SIGMA SHOOT 300 ROUNDS WITH 0 PROBLEM FOR THE PRICE I DONT KNOW WHAT CAN BE BETTER

  • @black99bimmer no disrespect but you only "heard" but never actually "seen"..i hear alot of things about guns but i wont comment on it until i actually have one to shoot and it does what that person said it did.the 9mm sigmas are fine...if these were POS smith 7 wesson will be out of business early.and glocks can jam too..the 4th gen glock 19s some have jamming issues..how do i know?because my brother "actually " has one and ive shot it and seen it firsthand..not bad guns but nuthins perfect
