You did a great job signing, from what I can tell. I could only pick up bits and pieces and words here and there. Still have a lot to learn. Basically, I really don't know what you said, but I can tell you're a good signer!
Of course not, by the looks of your videos, you are a FUCKING IDIOT! Sattelite dish n shit! You must be fuckin retarded. Have some fucking respect you hearing asshole!
I don`t understand sign language but it was funny/entertaining watching it. I kinda made up my own story in my head by looking at her signs and facial expressions :)
An awesome advocate you are and an insanely gorgeous one at that! :)
I'm trying to learn ASL. It's not that easy when you have full hearing as it is almost a different dimension and the training is scarce around here. I have a Mother with a hearing impairment and it's likely I will to. I figure now is a good time to learn all I can. I love silence! I can only imagine how well many in the culture can concentrate on written word. Amazing people and it's no surprise you've educated yourself so.
Barb, you are correct, because I totally agreed with you. Its common practice for hearing to think they know whats best for deaf students. Its also common that hearings never seek for Deaf educators' inputs. Its time for them to wake up and get their feet in our world.
I am on Barb's side.. I agree with her 100%!!! Its arrogant when an University program promotes oral and audist practices, than to celebrate Deafness.. Its audism, which oppresses the the would be richness of a deaf life.. It is prejudice and discrimination against a well being of a deaf individual's life, no matter how its done!! It is like trying to change the skin color and destroying the culture, by promoting audism and destroying deaf culture!
Hm, interesting... I read the sidebar-info because my sign-language is limited to maybe 2/3rds of the alphabet and the "I need the bathroom" sign. I have to agree (with
subtitleman) that subtitles would have been great on this video; when I was taking Japanese, watching Anime with the subs really helped me connect the words to their meanings and grammers. BTW, I do like your expressiveness, though most of what you signed was [undoubtedly] lost on me.
@OneWingedShark Text on videos will make your brain lazy and too dependent on text rather than actually read finger spelling. Take it from a deaf guy who knows.
Damn a lot of you people heavily discriminate against people who can hear.. Equivalent to racism. You people may know what's best for you with other hearing impaired persons, but NOT what is best when around your average person (which, may I note, is the vast majority). So sure, go ahead and do whatever you want. But don't expect everyone else to like it.
Hi Barb, I totally agree with the notion of your belief that the hearing educators should listen to our recommendations instead of having their belief what is best for deaf children. We are the children of deaf individual. I am on your side. Keep up the good debate. Stay on top of your argument. I know you will prevail.

wow, i find your videos sooo helpful! I'm only in asl 112 but watching you is helping me build my asl skills and teaching me a lot. Of what i can understand from this video i totally agree with you.. i think your videos are great! Thanks a bunch!
Go for it, Barb. You did the right thing. I'm behind you. Why can't NAD do something about it, and make it legal that all Grad Ss ought to recieve ASL interpreter certification first before enrolling Deaf Education. Hearing just don't realize that they are damaging deaf children with thier self-esteem and are not promoting their language skill and education. Where is the passion for them? It's a shame that they can be real idiotic. Keep it up. Contact NAD for a rally and make it difference.
I agree with you 100% Allow both Oral/SEE... But also notify those hearing parents with Deaf children, etc. that there is ASL and its true that it can help Deaf with their read/and writing. I agree with you- when people enter for grad programs they should learn ASL before entering You are not the only who thinks this. I do agree.
Hello Barb! I wanted to say you are awesome! I watch all these videos on youtube... And to be honest you are one of the top person I love to watch. I have watched a lot of your videos. I wish you could get all your videos on one page. I would love to watch them...
Barb, I agree and am with you 100%. Like the famous phrase, "They have to be deaf to understand." I understand that if the students are hard of hearing, they should learn to speak and identify sounds, but ASL and Bi-bi is very important and great tool to improve English. Learning ASL linguistic and culture are equally important! They should know their own self-identify so they would not feel alone.
I was a former student of Michigan School for the Deaf. In later life, I found out that my hearing loss is only 30%, that means I can hear 70%. I thanked MSD taught me to speak and learned to hear sounds and words. Then I moved to mainstream high school. There was no speech training in mainstream school....bummer! I am still struggle with my speech.
Barb, you are awesome! Keep up the good work! Bingo! The educators should learn ASL which is the easiest language of all languages, use it to teach deaf children to learn any subjects in school. Also, depending on deaf children's ability to hear. Then teach them how to speak well and to identify sounds, the sound of speech....learning to listen to words.
Barb, keep up a good work. For years, Hearing persons think they know what is the best for the Deaf. I am tired of this crap. I am not impressed with the program at USM at all. It is benefits the Hearing persons than it is for the Deaf childrens. Without the knowledges of Deaf culture and history, how can an educator became more effective teaching the Deaf children. It is time for the Deafies to get the points across and make the Hearing professionals listen to us. Keep up it, Barb.
i only clicked on this because this girl is very pretty, how old are you pretty woman ? i would hire this woman for a photo shoot.

I wish you had subtitled this for the hearing people.
