  • 10 years later and we are still bitching about that handball... and you know what, i <3 it

  • It was definitely handball

if a player obstructs a certain goal, with hand, the handballing player should get red card, and American team should get penalty kick

  • What always keeps the US from consistently beating quality teams is their finishing ability... Germany was so outstanding last world cup because they finished EVERYTHING, the US has never had that scary striker that, when given the opportunity, is a guarantee

  • THAT WAS GOAL!!!!!! FUCK THE REFEREE

  • FUCK GERMANY!

  • i miss Kahn :(

  • Fuck the reffree

  • we got cheated out with that handball

  • die deutschen nie die euro gwinnen, forza austria

  • Deutschland!!!!! Greeting from mexico Germans Hope you win Euro 2012.

  • Damn usa was AMAZING in this Match!!!! It was the German goal keeper that saved them...

Man Donovan is one of my fave players of all time! :)

  • that's what you filthy americans get for WWII

  • @jvboy88 wtf?

  • Our way, yes we can etc pp lol

  • FREAKIN STUPID ENGLISH REF, BUSY EATING CRUMPETS AND NOT CALLING THAT OBVIOUS HAND BALL, USA SHOULD HAVE ONE

  • @1MegaBalls Possibly, but it's not the Englishman's fault the yanks were busy stuffing their faces with hamburgers. Also, the word you intended to use was 'won'.

  • this was the world cup that we beat the mexicans jajajajajajaja mexico america's puta

  • @keepitkoolman faggot piece of shit. say that in juarez or some mexicans face.

  • Kahn...his the best. the Brasillians must be that lucky to get a goal to get the ball behind him.

  • Kahn truly deserved the Golden Ball, and Ballack aahhh he looked so young by then.

  • im just curious was Klose married around the time of this world cup cause he looks hot in this world cup.

  • As an American, I agonize over this match. But the match is over; so we must move forward. I hope the game grows domestically until we become perpetual competitors on a global scale. We can learn from Germany. Their tactics, player development, and consistency are sublime. With their mix of youth and experience, I expect them to win Euro 2012. I eagerly await my visit to Germany this summer. I am intrigued to watch the matches with great beer in a vibrant atmosphere. Go USA! Go Germany! Cheers!

  • Donavon knows now hes way better at assisting

  • The us won in my book

  • save by kahn! .. it definitely is

  • is that jack edwards with the play by play? any bruins fans?

  • FUCK AMERICA EURO IS KING IN FOOTBALL

  • USA I still love u

  • Goddam FIFA = you have cameras, fucking USE THEM

  • damnit kahn was just a brick wall man, it ain't fair i tell ya

  • they robed the usa

  • The American offense seems so...smooth.Why aren't they playing like that now?

  • @colin0622 donovan does too

  • jajaja tomen putos gringos jajajaja

  • Klose looks so young then~~~

  • Kahn was just too good!!!

  • jürgen and jogi should set up a new friendly game ,

i cant remember at the last game against US , to long ago

  • this is hilarious

  • This German team was awful. They only got to the final because they were playing sorry teams. I'm just surprised that everyone always talks about the handball of the German defender, but nobody ever talks about that handball in the USA vs Mexico game. That guy really punched it out of the box when the Mexican player was about to score.

  • @charlie65178 Well no shit if you go to Mexico vs USA the mexicans bring that up...point is USA should of tied this game and gone to extra time but ehh oh well nothing we can do now but bitch about the handball

  • The funny part is that during their match with Mexico a US defender blocked a possible goal with his forearm on purpose. The ref didn't call it.

    Maybe it was karma.

  • I bet if we had scored that goal in the 50th min, we might have won the game in overtime and advance to the semifinals against korea and possibly beat them since we tied to them in the group stages and advance to the finals

  • @MrHollywood121 we sure would have!

  • IM STILL PISSED OVER THIS GAME!

  • WE DESERVE THE WIN A MILLION TIMES MORE.... THE GERMANS EVEN CONFESSED THAT WE PLAYED BETTER THAN THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah that ball was in and it was a hand ball. Reminds me off when the ref said Hope Solo came off her line when she apparently didn't in the Brazil vs. US game for women. I can't wait till the 2014 world cup!

  • stupid germany they cheated stfu german fans

  • @USANUMBER1FAN jealous that we are much better as USA in all ways? ^^

  • When will they start calling it football.

  • @Cationification aussies call it soccer to bud... Soccer-roos?

  • @Cationification Perhaps it's a rebellious behavior towards the English who criticize their (former) colonies and commonwealth for referring association football as "soccer". USA, Canada, Australia/New Zealand and Ireland have their own sports they call "football".

In the USA and Canada's case, I don't see the point of calling the Gridiron "football" since it's more or less derived from rugby rather than the original form of football. Maybe the word sounds more attractive.

  • cmon really Deutschland is better then the states at football its basically man vs babies. Its like comparing Canada Vs some african ice hockey team.

  • @okpapereat germany is usually better...but on this night they werent. just like germany is usually better than england, but i recall michael owen getting a hat trick against them.

  • @okpapereat Dude, they won 1-0. It's not like they were creamed by 10 goals against nil. And even the Germans were surprised at the way the US played.

  • @okpapereat well yeah Germany is better...but in this game USA played up to the level of Germany...and Canada vs some african team would be like 38 to zero...Germany vs USA 1-0?

  • @okpapereat nowdays they are, but back in the day usa were a good team.

  • @JBlz124 There ok but still cant compare to the bigger teams such as argentina, brazil, england, germany, russia, ect i mean you look at all the super stars such as messi, kaka, klose, arshavin, rooney, lampard, ronaldo ect those countries are basically like a all star team.

  • @okpapereat in 2010-2011 theyve tied with aregentina and england, brazil beat them by one, and russia isnt even that big of a team... you are right there isnt really and super stars because most of them stay in mls but some go to small teams in europe

  • @okpapereat lol yes germany is a lot better than usa, but really? an african hockey team, ill say usa is like czech republic or like switzerland, not a cake walk but by no means expected to beat canada

  • @okpapereat Today, youre totally right but in 2002 the team of the usa was much better than the one of germany.

  • @okpapereat WOW really? they may be better now but in thi sgame USa were clearly the better side now stop bashing the US because they would hav won if not for your little baby cheater Frings' handball thers no way the germans would have made it to the final the US would be there instead so shut up

  • @TBIRD722000 Well they US did not make it to the finals, sports is a result oriented business, you loose or don't get to the final there is something wrong. When you a team who gets chance after chance and the goalie from the other side keeps stopping them it shows that the offense is not good enough or don't have a deep solid team, Let me use a example from another sport, lets say hockey since its much simpler to explain. If your team top line is not producing you look to the

  • @TBIRD722000 2nd line or 3rd and 4th line but loose by 1 goal most of the time you do not have a deep team. In this game against the states the players did not produce that is the bottom line. And that hand ball you need a bit of luck on your side. Good teams get the lucky bounces.

  • @okpapereat seriously?? the good teams get the lucky bounces this German team was mediocre at best the only reason they got to the final was because of Kahn and we did score but your little cheater handballed it

this is why soccer needs instant replay but that aside the US was clearly the better team Germany was lucky to have Kahn

  • @TBIRD722000 Totally agree with you on the instant replay yea it was a handball but i believe germany would of still came out on top. Why soccer don't have instant replay is beyond me.

  • @TBIRD722000 what??? im pretty sure korea would have eliminated usa in the semifinals

  • Deutschland!!! Deutschland!!! Deutschland!!!

    deutschland über alles =D

  • Germany did not deserve this victory, Germany has gone through because they are a big country in football, the U.S. could win but luck was not on their side, it's football, poorer nations always lose, but this time the U.S. was better

  • Kahn!

  • this was the best usa team we have ever seen by far , hopefully that wont be true for long...

  • Yes he has touched the ball but it was a natural move of his hand and his arm was on his body so he got no chance to dont touch it ! Thats the soccer rules ! But it was the best Tournament and game ive ever seen by the US team so far ! ;)

  • @Flohkopfchen actually he moved his arm out slightly to block the ball clear red card and penalty

  • @TBIRD722000 But the decision can not be undone. :/ Same by the worldcupfinal 1966 in England, the famous "Wenbly goal".Perhaps it would also come to another winner! Thats soccer unfortunatly ! :/

  • The best game by USA at world cups so far!!!

  • Comment removed

  • 4:02 the whole of the ball has crossed the line.

  • @G483F33LY Good point......................it seems like nobody else haven't seen it.

  • @G483F33LY and it's penalty, look at the hand of the german player

  • Ok i wanted USA to win and everything but that wasn't a handball that was a ballhand lol.

The German was just standing still and the ball hit him his hand lol

  • @dirtybunny987 that was definitely a handball. his hand shouldnt even be out that far to begin with.

  • @dirtybunny987 well yeah it hit his hand, as he pulled it back to his side to where the ball was heading. It really should've been a hand ball intentional or not

  • I think Donovan has psychic powers cause he always knows where to be and when to be at the perfect time!

Also It blows my mind how well USA played this day and how BAD Germany played this game. I mean anyone that knows football knows that Germany is one of the best teams in football but i dont know what happened with , Germany played really bad this game.

How can they play so well against Germany and then loose to Mexico last year?

  • @CashSmeller Handball is handball? What nonsense. Go look up law 12. Handball can only be penalised when it is 100% deliberate. A ref has to look at position of hands and ball unexpectiality. In this case the ball changed direction very close and the hand was by the side thus no violation occured. Its harsh but you have to referee to the rules rather than what you think is correct.

  • speechless ..one of the weakest german teams in last 100 years

  • this is the best game usa has ever played imo.

  • this was sad they stole from us! heck of a game I cryed but great work from our boys GO GO GO USA ALL THE WAY!!!

  • wie schlecht deutschland früher war heute würde man sie 3,4,5 oder 6 zu 0 wegfegen

  • @alesandrohino aber kahn <3

  • fuck US war crime country!

  • @SorrybutJebiga that's not what this is about, is it? it's about how usa was cheated out, and you bring something that's completely irrelevant up to make it seem better that germany won

  • Omg... I wonder if the US will every play like this again...

  • @milloselmejor

    both play better now

  • The Germans are always lucky. They were outplayed by the Koreans and Americans. They were also extremely lucky against England in 1970, 90 and 96.

  • @CunningStunt777777

Yes yes, always lucky. 3 Euro titles with the men, and 7 Euro titles with the women. Only luck. 2 World Cups with the women and 3 WC wins with the men, only luck. The men were in 12 Semifinals and 7 Finals in the WC and qualified for every tournament the were eligible. Only luck.

    .

So wheter 15 titles at major tournaments plus lots of medals for 2nd or 3rd place are just luck, or a sign for consistency of quality. Take your fanboy glasses off and face the truth, buddy.

  • @Jonathanizer no luck, skill

  • @J0EyeOfChtulhuJ0

That was kind of my point.

    @XLRAshon

    @Awakened260

    @CashSmeller

In fact it wasn't handball, even though the ball touched his hand (as paradox as it sounds). If the shot is from close distance it's only handball if the hand moves towards the ball (which wasn't the case) or if the hand is in an "unnatural position" - means above the shoulders or sprawled out away from the body (which also wasn't the case). So the ref called it right, the commentators need to learn the rules... -.-

  • @CunningStunt777777 no but the americans are bad in soccer ;D

  • @FunHeroOffical Really? This video and their tie against England shows otherwise.

  • @Hitmonchan107 germany won 4:1 and what about america?and then germany won 4:0 against argentinia only spain was a little bit better then germany ... but by the way which place was occupied by usa???i dont know ;D

  • @FunHeroOffical Germany won because the Brits were bummed out due to Lampard's goal being denied. And the Argies lost because let's face it they only had Messi, Aguero and Tevez while the rest of the team was shit.

  • @Hitmonchan107 1.revenge for wembley...2.usa had luck cause the keeper from england was bad.3.but they where the favourite with spain....

  • @FunHeroOffical Okay... I get the German revenge for losing at England '66 but the next one is plain stupid. Dempsey's shot was no luck, just the keeper's mistake for not catching or deflecting the ball well. The ball itself is not to blame though, just the makers and testers. It was too light for powerful kicks which turned opportunities into failure for most strikers. BBC made a joke that only the Germans knew how to maneuver it.

  • @Hitmonchan107 okay...i dont undestand your hole text ;) but it was luck that the keeper didnt catch the ball...

  • @FunHeroOffical You say it's luck because you didn't understand what I just posted.

There's no luck because luck does not exist.

  • @Hitmonchan107 i think you posted that it was the mistake of the keeper...but i think if a ball like this goes into the goal, its luck

  • @FunHeroOffical Ugh, don't be a dumbass. The Jabulani received complaints from goalkeepers because the shooters had more chances to score than the keepers to stop them. Green already knew how dodgy the ball was and yet he made the mistake of not deflecting the ball well. No luck, so stop lambasting me with this crap.

  • @Hitmonchan107 but neuer, casillas and any other keeper would catch the ball...and luck exist...

  • @FunHeroOffical So you're saying Argentina's offside goal was luck as well?

    Dumbass.

  • @Hitmonchan107 i never said that....but if a parachutist cant open his parachute and then he falls into bush and is still alive(true story :))is no luck?

  • @FunHeroOffical Apparently if luck exists then you don't have it with that God awful grammar of yours.

And people survive accidents that are almost always deadly. That doesn't mean they always survive the after effects.

  • @Hitmonchan107 okay...my grammar in english is awful...but i'm 14!!!!! but i think you re older so we can write in my language okay?okay....aber dieser fallschirmspringer hat es überlebt weil er in einen brombeerbusch gefallen ist ...ohne irgendwelche verletzungen...und ich denke das glück fängt damit an das man überhaupt geboren wird...obwohl man das von dir ja nicht grad sagen kann...

  • @FunHeroOffical I'm 15, so claiming to have bad grammar due to age is bullshit.

Oh, and here: Google Translation Englischen ins Deutsche: Er fiel auf eine Pflanze, nicht einen Betonboden. Das Glück war kein Faktor hier.

  • @Hitmonchan107 hahahahaha google translation ... i take this translation look:that was luck that would be the bush there stood because otherwise he indeed died:DDDDDDDDDDD...you are such an idiot ...do you know what you had written?

  • @FunHeroOffical Look Nazi boy, Google Translator is flawed and didn't properly translate what I actually typed. Hmm, let's see:

Google is flawed. You are stupid. Luck is nonexistent. German football team bad.

  • @Hitmonchan107 why did i know that you will call me nazi? first i am no nazi....twice,you are so typical american(think you are the best, invent everything...) and your forfathers killed a million of aboriginals because they want their own country...so lets see:luck exist.you a really really poor boy that you have to call me nazi.and the german soccer team got 3 titles...(what got america...oh ,nothing :DDD)

  • @FunHeroOffical My parents are from Spain. I was born in the United States. And Spain defeated Germany. Germany's best play for Spain's clubs like Ozil for Real Madrid. We are better than you.

  • @Hitmonchan107 spain is better than germany in the moment ...but i thought we talked about usa...spain got many god footballers and before germany plays against spain, germany really was better than spain because germany is good to play in the team...they havent got the best talents but they are good as a team...and spain is only good in the momment...but i think they will not win the euro cup and the world cup too.

  • @FunHeroOffical Germany WAS better before the reunification. West Germany had 3 titles.

  • @Hitmonchan107 2...1989:wall falls 1990:germany won the world cup with klinsmann and völler.and germany was from 1954-2008 better then spain...but i think spain will be not so good in the next time...germany will win the euro and the world cup ;)

  • @FunHeroOffical July 1990: West Germany wins.

October 1990: Germany reunites. You're from doucheland and don't even know your nation's history well. That is fuckin' funny.

  • the politics where reunited in 1990,but the country and the people in 1989...sorry i didnt think about that the football teams where reunited at the same date ...my mistake :D ..but germany is better than spain anyway...

  • @FunHeroOffical No, West Germany WAS, I repeat, WAS better than Spain. Germany beat England and Argentina by 4 goals each, but Spain beat you with only one goal and you people didn't score. LOL.

  • @Hitmonchan107 but spain beaten all the teams before germany with only one goal too and the enemys arent the best...and england and argentinia was with spain and germany the favourites in this world cup...

  • fucking MANO you freacking blind ref!!

  • That was one of the bades German teams I've ever seen. But in this time they had the best keeper I've ever seen since Toni Turek.

  • @DeporBayern Yeah, Khan was a ball magnet and a monster when it came to deflecting shots.

  • This reminds me of playing Football Manager.

You dominate possession and chances, however they

get like two chances and score.

Imagine if the penalty had been given, Donovan or Reyna

would score and USA would win the match.

Seriously, I can't watch this without feeling so fucking

sad for the americans. To hell with older Germany

    and their defensive, lucky football.

  • wow this is history. i was 7 years old i played as a goalkeeper in the local club. oliver kahn was just THE goalkeeper, everyones hero

  • oliver kahn vs. usa.....what an incredible performance by a great past keeper.....

  • German fan but yeah remember US kind of dominated that game apart from the goal & Kloses header against the post shortly after. US & Ireland were the only tough opposition Germany had up to the final, it all kind of opened up for them.

  • USA vs. Kahn 2002 World Cup Highlights

  • It's no shame to lose against Germany. In football Germany is a superpower.

  • @CossacksChampion Agreed. It sucks that we were eliminated in 2006 and 2010 by the SAME nation!

  • oh man, what a fantastic game. I wish the us had built on this performance, almost a decade gone and we have only shown this kind of fight in a few breif flashes. Of course the US was the better team on the day, but were quite unluckly here...I don't care what anyone says about ronaldo in the final, Kahn was the true WC MVP. In this game in particular, Kahn carried Germany to the final.

and Enteificationify is right, since the hand was unintentional it should have been a PK but not a red card

  • The game was awesome .....

  • Are you mad, americans?

    UHHH

  • fuck that german defender lameass

  • @killamob43 your mom sucks my dick fucking yank of shit

  • @banfieldCAMPEON100 i know u love sucking my dick u german piece of shit

  • @killamob43 jaja you hurt that said that it fucking your asshole mother and your jaja ,you do not have anything on the contrary your family still sicking my german sausage :) jaja german of shit in your country there is much stupid that is be neonazi already wanted to be German jajaja if you answer quere again to me to say that you are a son of bitch

  • @banfieldCAMPEON100 hahaha you fucking no life hahahaha you can't even spell hahahaha pinche pendejo maricon hahahahaha

  • At the very least the handball should of been a PK and a red card.

  • @syzygy502 thats the most, not the least. and he didn't move his hand to touch the ball, the ball moved to his hand, not a red card. learn a little bit about soccer before you comment on a super biased video

  • @Enteificationify So what you're saying is that they edited the video to make it look like he moved his hand?

  • @syzygy502 Nah, at most it should have been a free kick.

  • Donavan ist der beste!! !!DONAVAN!! XD

  • @GivenchyParisFr thank you, i would appreciate that

  • cooles spiel...

  • @GivenchyParisFr so what? we have one of the best teams in the world, way better than the usa, they played good in this one match.

my great grandfather was a soldier in WWII, but like 95% of the soldiers, he was forced to fight. he tried to escape, but the nazis found him and he was killed in the concentration camp in auschwitz. his son, my grandfather was chased by them as well, but luckily he could escape. now stop being immature and get over the past. this is football, not a history lesson

  • @GivenchyParisFr dont listen to this dumbfuck, all he wants is to anger you. we germans are not nazis. its the past, get back to school

  • he didn´t mean to touch the ball with the hand also the ball always is fast some times alot to react

  • @dolvanariasmorelo it was on the line.....any other game I can guarantee you that would've been given.

  • lol sanneh looks like rkelly

  • yay

  • wow.... sanneh...

  • This is a perfect example of why goal line replays are needed.

  • he had plenty of time to move his hand but he didnt. it was definitely intentional

  • @10YNWA10 Well as I said before: It is by no meaning or rule a "handball" - Only because referees normally are giving penalties for that doesn`t mean that it is lawful.

"Soccer" rules are no case law...

  • Comment removed

  • @GivenchyParisFr Go and fly some airplanes into buildings you fucking piece of scum...

  • Definitely no handball...

  • @SuperJuliusC shut up you don't know anything, people get booked all the time for unintentionally getting a hand ball, it was on the goal line no if and or buts, penalty kick and red card for the player. and don't start this crap that he didn't move his hand, you really don't know anything about soccer

  • @XLRAshon First of all: You seem to don`t know anything about "soccer" because otherwise you would know the rules of this game - Only because "all the time" players are getting red cards or teams getting penalties for those kind of incidents it doesn`t mean that it is "lawful".

And by the way: Nobody in the world with the exception of the US soccer fans or media said that this was a reason for a penalty.

  • Interesting to see this again. Technically the referee got it 100% right- the player doesn't move his hand to the ball which deflects to him from the keeper therefore it isn't deliberate and thus no handball has taken place. Fifa from memory confirmed this as the right decision a day or so after the game.
