Also I think there are many other books about whales have enough and clear description of their natural behavior, bones, organs and classified as mammals or possible the ancestor for dogs. They must collect hundreds so they get a wide field of variety and data and the waste material is sold to people as a profit and a way of paying for the project. @ThePrezerver all types of research is done on dead animals and life forms that can not be done while the animal is still alive. Researching the internal workings and systems of a whale can only be done on a deceased one. I never said they were doing simple blood work in fact they are obviously doing more than that since it does require the specimen to be captured,killed,and dissected. As far as what research they are doing well wait for their publishing of their studies.

Their are also non lethal means of gathering the same data. One does not need to attempt to slaughter a thousand whales a year to figure out they eat fish, we all know this. The small amounts of data they have collected are critisized as being of little use. To not see this operation as simple whaling is naive.

They could very well be doing testing on specific sample of the whales that is only attainable by killing the animal. Whales are not small creatures that can be handled easily or tested easily but once they are dead they can test what they need with out torturing the animals or risking the crews lives. The brain sample,organ tissues, immune system and how it works for whale could lead to advancements in cancer and aid research in other mammals such as humans. There is much research to be done on whales that go's deeper than the skin.

Also I think there are many other books about whales have enough and clear description of their natural behavior, bones, organs and classified as mammals or possible the ancestor for dogs. The Japs are not only hunting a couple, they are hunting over hundreds every year. Sea shepherd only protect the lives of an endangered species.

They must collect hundreds so they get a wide field of variety and data and the waste material is sold to people as a profit and a way of paying for the project. There are many sources on anatomy of sea life but updated material with newer tests is always good to have. Outdated information is bad information.

Researching the internal workings and systems of a whale can only be done on a deceased one. I never said they were doing simple blood work in fact they are obviously doing more than that since it does require the specimen to be captured,killed,and dissected. Their are also non lethal means of gathering the same data. One does not need to attempt to slaughter a thousand whales a year to figure out they eat fish, we all know this. The small amounts of data they have collected are critisized as being of little use. To not see this operation as simple whaling is naive.

They could very well be doing testing on specific sample of the whales that is only attainable by killing the animal. Whales are not small creatures that can be handled easily or tested easily but once they are dead they can test what they need with out torturing the animals or risking the crews lives. Out of respect of what has happened in Japan I no longer comment on them on them in a negative way even though I do not support whaling unless its for subsistence survival for the native peoples and thats all I will say about it. I feel terrible for the good people of Japan right now, I send them by donations and prayers, peace.

@ViktorD09 - Well to bring some actual facts into this, some whale species in the southern are endangered becuase of large scale whaling from ports in Aus & NZ at about 1850. During the so called 'scientific research' whale number have acutally increased substantially (This is due to the IWC ban on large scale whaling), and the Andy Gil sinking was reveal by the Peter Bethune to be a media stunt, in which Peter called Paul Watson compleltly morally bankrupt. these activists have no respect for human life, at sea nationalism doesnt exsist at all cost must protect human life. And about the big fish, everything out of the sea is permitted to eat and the japanese live on an island in the middle of it and they can eat with a lot of people from it. instead of the polluting and energy and food consuming pork the west worships this is a way better way to get your food.
Or shall we wait till the whale dies a natural death and throw some flowers in the sea?

To the guy who's name starts with i: the whales that those guys are hunting are endangered. This means that there are only a few left in existence. If the whalers keep killing them, there will be no more. And the Japanese can just as easily eat cow or something else that isn't endangered. Got it?

The Japanese kill about 600 Minky whales and there are now about 300 thousand of them. As long as they only take this small sustanable amount whale numbers will continue to increase. The Sea Sheperd doesn't seem to want to let people know this as we are supposed to believe "they r eco warriors and the only thing stopping extinction" LOL

@finntroool @finntroool What better way? Capt. Paul Watson worked with Greenpeace for years, and Greenpeace is entirely passive. What animal activists/conversationists are starting to realize is being passive isnt contributing to any change. Getting out there with direct action IS! Whether people agree with them or not, people are still talking about Sea Shepherd, and the more they are talked about the more support they will get. The support will soon outweigh the amount of people who insult.

i got a response a while a go and i seriously can find the response so heres my reply; it is not sustainable when you are killing whales at more then 100 a year and they only reproduce one offspring (if any) every 2 years...so number are deminishing and plus its just cruel to think of them only as animal numbers. if somone walked into a shop and shot a father and mother it would be horrible. this is the same situation no matter how much you try to manipulate it. it is the same.
