  • I know theburn247 likes the "thong" technique enough to comment on a 45 second clip, but I do not agree with him/her. We use to call it strapping about ten years ago and we like the guy in the video have found that it is not necessary nor does it work with all SCBA types and body types. It is of course an option. An option that when it can work has its pros and cons. It is neat to see that we are all doing similar stuff even here on the main land.

  • @n2fire1 Not to sound like a know it all, if you dont "strap" said firefighter, and they are in fact unresponsive the can and will slip out of the pack. Smaller FF,s can also controll a larger one if they are higher up on the waist and if you notice in the video, the downed FF Slides down in his straps. A second rescuer only aids in the downed FF sliding out of the pack by pulling the FF away from the anchored pack... I will post a video and link.... Sorry to sound like I know It all.

  • If you dont thong him /her they can slide out of the pack.

  • Make sure that there are a few things you do before you connect your waist harness to the victims pack. 1. Thong the downed firfighter. 2. sit him up loosen his chest straps and if its an msa undo the chest buckle. 3. undo and zero out your waist straps, then connect your waist buckle. 4 Snug down downed firefighters chest straps to secure the thong and secure him in pack so he/she dont fall out. 5. Squat down and sinch up your waist straps you are now secured. Questions firepilot59@hotmail.com
